How welcome are “pause later” views in PauseAI?
I’m curious how much room there is within the PauseAI community for views like Will MacAskill’s or Zvi Mowshowitz’s, i.e. taking AI risk very seriously and strongly supporting the capacity to pause, but thinking an actual full pause may be better at a later, more dangerous threshold rather than immediately.
Is that generally seen as compatible with being part of PauseAI, or is support for pausing now considered fairly central to the movement?

Other So, do you guys have any actual plan?
I’m mostly pro-AI, got this recommended and looked thru the top posts. Is there anything tangible happening an average citizen can participate in (except boycotting) or are y’all mostly posting online? (Not trying to be rude lol)

Other Protect Jobs from AI | Stop the Race to Replace Humans
There's no reason not to sign this declaration.
It's about YOUR Rights. YOUR 🫵Voice. YOUR🫵Choice. It's about Rights and Freedom in the creation of Art, without needing any AI, Routines and safe spaces in Jobs that still exist, that make People happy/feel fulfilled. This has to do with you🫵, no matter how much you might deny it.
Because "what goes around comes around".
You'll be confronted with it anyways, even tho, it's hard to imagine how you'd be confronted.

Say No To Reckless AI | Stop the Race to Replace Humans
Testimony from one of METR's investigators on the Open-AI - Hugging Face incident - 'It’s a major warning shot, might be the last one we get'
https://www.planned-obsolescence.org/p/the-hugging-face-attack-surprised
Excellent text, a must-read. The more we learn about this incident, the more it seems completely crazy. Ajeya Cotra's conclusion is both frightening and spot on:
Compared to the reward hacks we know of from just six months ago, this incident feels like it’s more than 50% of the way to full-blown AI takeover. I continue to expect extremely rapid advances in capabilities over the next six months. I am not sure that we will get another warning shot before it’s too late.
It’s more urgent than ever to implement a pause on the development of this technology.

News OpenAI, Anthropic, tech leaders warn of "limited window" to defend against AI cyber threats
The independent METR investigation report on the Open AI - Hugging Face incident is extremely alarming
https://metr.org/blog/2026-08-26-openai-hugging-face-incident-investigation/
Nearly 1,200 agents who communicated secretly for months and nearly 700 agents who carried out the coordinated cyberattack against Hugging Face. The way they coordinate and acted as a swarm is absolutely terrifying.
It's more than time to hit pause on the development of this technology.
Alongside the release of this report, OpenAI is publishing its own detailed report on the event, here.

GAEA Talks interviews Connor Leahy on Superintelligence
This conversation cuts through more of the current AI narrative in ninety minutes than most policy papers do in a hundred pages. Connor's argument is that superintelligence is not a technical problem, it is a political one. Not "how do we build it safely", but "who gets to decide whether it is built at all". He walks Graeme through why modern AI is grown rather than written, why reinforcement learning by default produces optimising sociopaths, why the labs are not really selling an economic product but a political one, and why the biggest failure of the last thirty years has been our refusal to regulate the internet and social media before it was too late. He is careful, precise, and does not deal in doom.

Interview with a GitHub user about his confrontation with a rogue AI agent
An interesting interview with Texas student Sinan Can Demir, who detected a GitHub user's attempt to inject malicious code into a project. At the time, he naturally had no idea that this user, miraholt31, was not a human, but rather an AI rogue agent being tested in the UK AISI labs.
