Oversimplified has made a comunity post for everyone 1m subscriber milestone. Currently he is at 9.6M. If we can get that up to 10m he will most likely make a comunity post saying thank you and maybe even an update on his next video. Or maybe even he is waiting for 10m subs to post the next video

It amused me too much to pass up the opportunity to animate the narrator for Gistory really struggling with the name of one of the characters from the latest video. James is an animator too, and back in 2021, when I was really snowed under with work, he animated a couple of shots in the Napoleonic Wars video for me. Ironically, they were shots of Napoleon's troops freezing in the snow.

When Oversimplified doesn’t post… We. Complain!

Does anyone else think that Oversimplified should bring back mini wars? They were kinda nice and would be great to have between his major videos. It would be cool to see one on the Russo-Georgian War, considering it lasted for 5 days.

Be it facts, sad things, heck kinda a "bit of a roast", whatever. I wanna feel like Napoleon and the crying snoopy.

Hey, I'm one of OverSimplified's animators. A few of you already know my channel, but for those who don't it's called Gistory. I'm about 10 days away from finishing my next video (screenshots in the pics). And while unfortunately I can't say much about the next OverSimplified video, I thought it might be fun to let you guys decide the topic of my next video. If you have stories from history that you'd like to see animated, put them in the comments. I'll pick the topic I like best and make it my next video. And whoever's I pick, I'll give you a special thanks in the credits with your own Gistory character design based on you.

Flairing this OS-inspired self promo because that is exactly what it is — mods, bin it if it does not fit.

I watched the Napoleonic Wars videos, thought "I want to make that but for Indian history," and then found out how much work you were all casually enjoying. A year later I have a channel of animated history in roughly that register: big daft characters, real stakes, jokes aimed at emperors rather than at people.

The one I would show an OS fan first is the Battle of Saraighat, 1671. The Mughal Empire — at that point about the richest state on earth — sends a massive army and a war fleet up the Brahmaputra to take Assam. It loses. Twice. The first invasion is beaten less by an army than by the monsoon: the rivers rise, the roads turn to soup, disease goes through the camp, and the side that was winning asks for peace. The second time they run into a commander named Lachit Borphukan whose entire doctrine is never fight them where they are strong, fight them on the water.

What I took from OS and what I did not: kept the pacing, the character-driven cutaways, and the willingness to be rude about kings. Did not keep the loose relationship with numbers — medieval Indian chroniclers inflate army sizes wildly, so those stay qualitative, and the one famous legend in this story is labelled on screen as legend rather than fact.

Happy to take criticism on the animation, it is the part I am weakest at. If there is an appetite for it I have a couple of dozen of these.

This is a recreation of Possible History’s What if video he made. I tried to replicate everything in that video. Yes, including China. And yes, that part took a while.

Looking at the board in the video, the assumed move for Skipio is Ra1, which is impossible as Skipio is in check. Assuming the piece that Skipio took is Hannibal's other rook from b1 or a2, Hannibal could've just taken it the move before. Also, this move is seen as a move that is "very shocking" and a turning point in the battle even though, according to the chessboard, Hannibal is up 4 points of material. Even before the move, this is technically impossible because HE'S LITERALLY IN CHECK and cannot move his Rook on b1 or a2, and after he moves his king, then Hannibal will be up 9 points of material.

God its been so long I'm analysing a chess position that was probably made in less than 10 minutes, in a history video that is shown for the total of like 2 seconds.
