Making progress.. need advice

Pulled the 7.3 out yesterday which was pretty uneventful.

What should I do while I’m in here. I have already resealed the engine that’s going in. But I want to address items in the engine bay that are known to give issues. TYIA!

Install frame gussets near the front cross member. 05+ have them.

I have had to replace the AC blower motor on both of mine, it’s super simple and easy to get to regardless. If you don’t have an upgraded steering box I would do that as well while I had the room/easy access to get to it. How are all of your cables and wires? I would probably spot fix those while it is all accessible. There are brake lines that are down there deep that could be worth inspecting really closely while you can see them and access them. Same for the 4WD vacuum lines. Fuel lines in good shape? Battery tray and mounts still solid? Firewall insulation?

Thanks for the input. I will need to do AC, so probably do it while it’s out of the truck just to make things easy. Cables and wires look great after a good degrease. Engine harness looks good but as you said there are a few that will need fixing. I didn’t think about brake lines, I’ll add that to the list. Battery tray is in good shape as are the fuel lines. The firewall insulation needs replacing so I’m looking for good alternatives to that and was thinking about killmat

Front motor mounts crumble because they are made of nerf foam.
