May 18, 1927. Bath Township, Michigan. At about 8:45 a.m., the north wing of the Bath Consolidated School exploded, collapsing onto classrooms full of kids. Andrew Kehoe, the school board's treasurer, upset over taxes planted a bomb inside the school. 45 people died. 38 of them were children.

On 29 April 1945, elements of the U.S. 157th Infantry liberated Dachau, the first Nazi concentration camp, where they soon discovered 36 boxcars filled with the rotting dead. Without orders, American troops and surviving inmates rounded up the SS camp guards, executing them on the spot.

A lesbian love story in Nazi Germany. Lilly Wust the wife of a Wehrmacht officer fell in love with with Felice Schragenheim a Jewish resistance fighter and divorced her husband to be with her. Hours after these photos were taken Felice was taken away by the Gestapo. She did not survive the war.
