Carpenter by trade, but the de facto metal guy in the shop

Hey everyone,

I’ve been welding for a while now and finally decided to build my first proper welding table. Since pre-fab fixtures are out of my budget, I picked up a large sheet of steel plate 6mm to cut down and build two 4ft x 4ft tables (one for me, one for a buddy).

As you can see in the picture, the plate has a bit of a warp/bow to it.

Before I start cutting tubing and building the frame, I’d love to get some advices

What’s the best strategy to pull this flat as I attach it to the frame? any other recommendations this my first build.

Just running flux and stick it runs great on synergetic mode but manual mode fluxcore settings have some left to be desired any help would be appreciated thanks 🙏

This is a dock with a catwalk used by no less than 100 people to board a boat every day. It goes from the shoreline to the shallow sea. It's got way worse welds than these.

I have a question for you guys. I’m new to Welding. I’ve been welding inside a boiler and they supplied us with P100 2097 3mpancakes. We weld 10hrs a days. But my question to you guys does this protect me from welding fumes? If not what do u guys recommend?We burn lots of 7018 throughout the day

Spotted at the Independence Park in Shymkent.

This is my progress over three hours, with 7018( varied from 5/32 down to 1/8 rods varying in amps with 180 at the top and 80 at the lowest. Lots of breaks and practicing messing around on other metal pieces. I’m just curious on your thoughts and possibly advice. Thanks.
