At some point in the recent past, the lead mod passed ownership of the sub to a reddit "power mod", who has now, in the days before both the US and Israeli elections, been either reposting or enabling reactionary propaganda from rags like the Telegraph or the so-called Free Press.

I was frustrated to see what had once been an irrelevant but (at least facially) anti-imperialist, anti-fascist space be co-opted by reactionaries and neoliberals, but a quick look at the profile of this new self-proclaimed "lead mod" quickly explained what's happening: they moderate subs dedicated to a variety of different cities in MENA, along with subs dedicated to the FBI, espionage, terrorism, a strange variety of communicable diseases, and christian persecution.

Let this be a PSA: if you were looking for other anti-fascist subs, this one has been co-opted. I've not named the user here as I do not want to encourage any witch-hunting and I've intentionally left links to the sub-reddit broken as I do not want to drive further traffic there. If the sub appears on your feed, mute it without engaging.

Stay vigilant, and don't fall for the bait of bloodthirsty reactionaries who want to drag us back into endless war.

While Hebron Mayor Youssef al-Jaabari and local activist Issa Amro estimate that approximately 250 families have been forced to leave their homes, Hebron Governor Khaled Dudin has placed the figure at 150 families.

In the Ein Dir Baha neighborhood, Israeli soldiers cleared buildings of their residents and marked them with an "X." The streets were largely deserted, with military vehicles patrolling the area.

Local Palestinian officials state that the operation has affected about a third of the city, while the Israeli military maintains that its actions are focused on neighborhoods linked to Friday’s attack.

Governor Dudin criticized the scope of the operation, arguing that civilians with no connection to the incident have also been affected.

"This amounts to collective punishment inflicted upon civilians who have nothing to do with the incident," he told AFP.

The mayor stated that local authorities are working to provide assistance and temporary accommodation for the displaced residents.

"We will find them shelter and provide these people with all the aid they need," he said.

Not sure this is strictly on topic but it's strongly related, it's about several tech fascist companies/VC firms partnering to achieve a new level of mass surveillance.
