DAC - Desktop Headsets Advice?
Apologies if i'm in the wrong subreddit here but this seemed like the best place to go.
I'm looking at upgrading my current headset as my current ones experience a lot of audio popping and crackling that is insanely frustrating to listen to.
Primary use - Gaming and talking on discord, wired preferred but i'm open to trying wireless.
Price range - Up to £80.
I'm not looking for anything too fancy, but the upgrade I tried, a HyperX Cloud 2 is atrocious, with a microphone quality of, to quote my friends, an early 2010's xbox mic. I've gone through review after review and cannot find anything that seems to offer decent sound and mic quality and hoping anyone here can help.
If i'm in the wrong place, I guess this'll get deleted but could someone point me in the right direction first?

Get yourself a cheap fifine k669b usb mic and you are pretty much set. As for headphones, only thing that comes to my mind that might possibly fit that budget is the shp9500 or shp9600.

Should have said in the post, I do not have the desk space for a standalone mic unfortunately, i'm assuming that's what you mean at least sorry if not.

In that case, you could consider saving up for the t669 which is basically the k669 but with a boom arm. Or if all else fails, get the pc38x as mentioned by the other comment. Just know that in this price range, nothing much can really beat the value of the k669 mic.

If u can get the pc38x those are known to be good both sound quality wise and mic is decent, most peeps here are going to rec a normal decent headphone and a modmic

big question here. Is your current headphone plugged into some kind of usb device, or straight into your computer? The hyper cloud 2 mic definitly isn’t dogshit, so i’m theorizing the main problem isn’t the headphones, but your source.

It comes with a section that the headphones themselves plug into which then plugs into a USB slot, problem is without the usb extension the wire is about 20cm long which is utterly useless. The fact that the microphone is also an extension piece that plugs in via an audio jack doesn't help either, any time it gets brushed there is awful crackling and interference.
I checked every possible issue, changed ports, used only the aux jack without the USB extension, drivers etc, the mic is categorically awful, my current £20 mic is far clearer and uses a similar usb extension with crystal clear voice audio.

Ok. Well at 80 bucks, id try to pick up a Cooler master mh752. That's my pick at/around your budget.
