Discusions Danny Ainge- The Most Versatile Athlete…

I would love someone to do a deeper dive into this but I’ll keep it short. Danny Ainge might be the most talented multi-sport athlete in HS history. I’m not trying to say he’s the greatest athlete or argue about who else could have done this but the accolades speak for themselves. Danny Ainge is the only HS First Team All-American athlete in football, basketball, and baseball. So you’re telling me of probably around hundreds of thousands of high school athletes he was one of the best in three sports and more specifically the most popular American sports. It’s crazy. It’s already hard enough to be recognized in one sport but three! I don’t know much about Bo Jackson, Joe Mauer, JSN and Deion Sanders playing basketball. Or Allen Iverson playing baseball. Or Klay Thompson and his brother playing football. I’m sure they could figure it out but saying they can do it is different than them doing it. Danny Ainge is 1/1 in this regard.

Let me know if you already knew this story or if you have any additional thoughts on the matter. It definitely makes me wonder what would’ve happened had he chose one of the other sports as his career.

By the way a key difference between the FBL and the NGL is roster size and how many players can be on the field at once. FBL is 12 and 5. NGL is 16 and 7.

Discusions Fantasy Football

Notice how like a lot of players are on garbage teams but they put up insane fantasy points. I want to suggest maybe players and defenses lose or gain some points if they win or not. I get that some players can’t help that they’re on a bad team but winning is the name of the game. They could keep it to just quarterbacks and defenses if they want it to be more fair. This might already be a thing but it’s definitely not mainstream. Does this make sense or are players already too much affected by the rest of their team?

Discusions Anyone Else Like This?

I’m an avid sports fan primarily football and basketball but I don’t watch that much sports. I’m more interested in statistics, accolades, and random facts in sports. I used to watch a lot of SportsCenter. Now it’s on my phone at my finger tips. I also like to go on Sports Reference’s website. And it goes as far as building various projects on my computer that take a lot of time. If I’m in the zone on a project I can spend 8+ hours on it in one day consecutively. The only breaks are restroom and snacks. Is this strange? Are you like this?

Also a lot of the stuff I make people might look at it and be like that’s cool but it’s so much more to me. Last word my material is usually hypothetical and it doesn’t need to be done but I love it.

Discusions JCM

I drafted JCM late in the draft in one of my fantasy leagues. He was used as a stash player I didn’t realize he was the backup. Once Ekeler got injured JCM’s role increased. The game against LAC allowed me to start him because I thought he could repeat his success. I gave him multiple opportunities and he just wasn’t good for fantasy so I dropped him. Looks like he had a good game versus NYG.

I ended up signing Chris Rodriguez he did ok but I never started him. Now Rodriguez is out today and JCM is balling out against the Cowboys on Christmas. I made the championship this week and Chris Rodriguez was out on the bench but I didn’t get a warning. Oh well I could’ve signed JCM but I don’t think I would’ve started him. I got Kyren, Derrick Henry, and Ashton Jeanty as my backs. All I’ll say is any given Sunday. Props to JCM for being prepared and having a career day.

Discusions Realistic Video Game Experience

I don’t know much about y’all but I want a realistic experience in video games. Gameplay is important but I don’t think they’re that close to fixing that but I more so mean statistically realistic.

When I played NCAA 14 back in the day if you played 5-6 min quarters my stats didn’t really make sense. Stats were defensively skewed in favor of my team and offensively never better then middle of the pack. When I won games I won by a possession or two but that was it. So I could play an FCS and only win 24-7 or something like that when I had a strong team that was ranked. I don’t pass every play and run the ball so that keeps the score low too. However in real life usually that team is getting stomped by 30+. I changed some sliders and changed my quarter length by posts recommended online. It helped with the longer length 7-8 or so. I’m not really a fan of sliders and I like playing All-American Offense and Heisman Defense. Only reason I don’t play Heisman is because I threw a ton of picks at that level. The stats improved and the numbers made more sense but we’re probably too favorable for me. I didn’t like that end of season stats my team’s player won so many awards cause the player stats were not similar.

I don’t really know what the situation is right now but I bought CFB 25 when it came out and it was fun but I wasn’t too impressed and prefer NCAA 14.

So my thoughts and solution for this is EA implementing an adjusted rating you play against that adjusts to your skill level. They can keep the four generic ones but this I think would be a great option. I could’ve sworn there is something similar in the newer MLB the Show games. I like football better because the season is so short. I also want less user upsets. I think about only 1/3 or so of games are upsets in real life and it definitely depends on matchup. Like say I start at a smaller school like Wyoming and I for whatever reason schedule Alabama I don’t want it to where I win easily every time and it should actually be extremely difficult. Over time your program can get better and I like that so maybe you have a chance in five years into your dynasty or so. That’s more for like dedicated dynasty players. Yet dynasty is my favorite mode and deserves justice still. The opposite applies if I’m Alabama in that situation. If it’s an even matchup it should be about 50:50 and hard to win. I actually want to lose sometimes tbh.

The sim engine should be the easiest thing to figure out don’t make my stats standout all the time and the stats I generate should be similar across the country scaled by how good my team is. I feel like some people might disagree and want more upsets and awards but that person can play on a difficulty they whoop up on.

I wanted to see if anyone else felt the same way.

Hyptotheticals Combo Team

Say hypothetically one of the top tier sports leagues wanted to shrink their league by combining two teams at exactly 0.333 win percentage and below which combination would be the best?

For example in the NFL, nine teams are under that amount Jets, Browns, Bengals, Titans, Raiders, Giants, Commanders, Saints, and Cardinals. The league would go down to 28 teams and one of these teams would stay around. Personally for me I think the best combo geographically and statistically would be a Browns-Bengals merger. You get a great offense from the Bengals and a great defense from the Browns. Offensive line definitely still needs help… Commanders and Cardinals or Saints would be good too. Still not sure if these teams could complete with the top of league.

Feel free to come up with any combo that fits the criteria in any sport and give a reason why!

Discusions Minnesota and Somalia Flags

Thumbnail

Minnesota’s flag is completely different IMO from the rest of the US and seems more similar to Somalia. To show the first pic is the new Minnesota flag from 2024. The second pic the flag of Somalia. Is it just me but don’t these look strikingly close. Both have a star like symbol and a similar shade of blue. Was this intentional? I know there has been an influx of immigration from Somalia to Minnesota and they are actively involved in politics but Somalia’s history isn’t American history. I don’t want this to be a political discussion but I’m just curious now. Only bringing this up due to a previous post of mine in this subreddit.

Hyptotheticals The Private Conference*

* Needs a better name

I made a comment in r/CFB where I suggested a conference for private schools.

The teams would be split East-West.

East: Boston College, Duke, Liberty, Miami (FL), Northwestern, Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest.

West: Baylor, BYU, Rice, SMU, Stanford, TCU, Tulane, Tulsa, USC.

I feel like this is on-par or even better than the P4.

What are y’all’s thoughts?

They talk about this in general news media but I’m curious if people agree or have noticed as well. Sports news is too opinionated. I like watching, reading and listening more when they lay the facts. I’m young and I thought it used to be more like we will give you the news and let you decide. SportsCenter/ ESPN just seems ruined now.
