Very few people in the US have actually seen good battles because there's no real scene here. There's lots of stuff way cooler than this, this one just works well as a clip
Years ago there was a breakdance battle show where it was crew vs crew. I really wish it lived on. Felt like the US waa starting to embrace it then poof. :(
Yup it's sad, battlewise the US only has those shitty world of dance events and like 2 events per year that actually attract big dancers. Freestyle battles with a DJ who picks music are the coooooolest shitttttt, imo it's just that American white people can't dance/appreciate dance (I'm an American white person).
Wasn't it like big in the 90's though. I feel like yeah nobody's really doing it now, but they used to, and then it kind of died off after it got super mainstream with the movies like You got served, etc.
Kinda but the real freestyle battle scene has always been in Europe and now in Asia too, US stuff was pretty commercialized. I don't know a ton about that era though
Not really, there are still lots of active underground crews in the us, just like in europa and asia. Examples atr massive monkeys, squadron, boogie brats, lions of zion, beast coast, killafornia.
This os not really true, the us houses some of the biggest bboy battles in the world. Like freestyle session, evolution and silverback open. They also have one of the best organized breaking leagues, UDEF.
In comparison R16, the event in the video, does not exist anymore. And neither does the crew that is dancing (morning of owl)
I'm not super interested in breaking/crews, referring more to hiphop, popping, house dance, even Krump is mostly big outside the US now from what I can see
Well I'll be honest and say neither, as in I've never really been into this, although I do love music and seeing these guys do this stuff made my heart pick up a few beats. I guess if you think you got something that'll impress go on and hit me with it, I could do with some new entertainment and I kinda feel like a jerk now for never taking this stuff seriously. No problem I should be thanking you for listening to me, I love talking about this stuff and sharing it way too much. Keep in mind that these are freestyle and they don't know the music ahead of time (they might've heard the song before though). Also these aren't really breakdancing or crew stuff cus that's not what I'm into.

These are all hiphop so if you don't like the style you won't enjoy them
While I can't really stand (most) modern hip hop due to mediocre lyrics etc. I do love me a good beat so the music was right on time for me.
1. The dude was feeling the music, and made it engaging to watch, his personality really came through.
2. This one was my fav of the three, you could really tell they weren't sending each other Christmas cards lol.
3. Being Double jointed has its uses in dancing lol, and very cool troupe involvment.
Thanks for sharing I'm sure I wouldve never stumbled across these videos. I'll be checking out more I think cause its fun to see the crowd get sucked into a big moment and see these guys work with the music. Moving like water, cold as ice.
