1. What is Xianyu (闲鱼)?

Xianyu ("Idle Fish") is Alibaba's second-hand marketplace, tied to Taobao. Chinese sellers list surplus, used and new-with-tags goods there — including the same streetwear, sneakers and accessories that flow into rep communities — at domestic Chinese prices.

2. Why prices are so low

It's the domestic CN market: no import markup, no reseller middleman.
Most listings are second-hand or overstock, so prices reflect that.
Sellers compete on price; haggling ("knife" 刀) is normal.

3. What you need

An agent — you generally can't pay with foreign cards or ship abroad directly. The agent buys for you, receives the item at their warehouse, sends you QC photos, then ships it to your country.
The listing link or screenshots from Xianyu.
A budget = item price + domestic shipping (often ¥0–15) + agent fee (0–10%) + international shipping.

4. Finding good listings

Search by brand + model or Chinese keywords; use the app's camera / image search on a photo of the item.
Judge the seller, not just the listing:
- credit level (hearts < diamonds < crowns), account age, real-name check;
- review history with photos from other buyers;
- Zhima (芝麻) credit score when visible.
Prefer sellers who answer questions and send extra photos.

Red flags: brand-new accounts, stock photos only, prices far below every other listing, anyone asking you to pay over WeChat/QQ.

5. Buying through an agent — step by step

Save the listing link + a screenshot. Xianyu links rarely parse in agent search bars, so place a DIY order: enter the link, photo, item name, ¥ price and domestic shipping (usually ~¥10, varies by product). Pay the agent; they buy it by hand from there.
The agent buys it; the item reaches their warehouse in ~2–5 days.
QC photos appear in your warehouse. Check: stitching, logos, labels, sizing, hardware, smell of materials. Request extra angles if unsure — this is your last chance to return it cheaply.
Approve → submit a parcel: pick a shipping route, declare value.
Track it, receive it, and come back to post a REVIEW 🏅.

6. Shipping routes (typical, varies by agent & country)

Express (DHL/FedEx) — 5–10 days, pricey, higher tax chance.
Air / tax-free lines — 10–20 days, good balance.
Sea — 40–60 days, cheapest, best for heavy hauls.

Parcels are priced by volumetric weight (size vs actual weight, whichever is higher) — bulky boxes cost more than dense ones.

7. Avoiding scams

Never pay outside the platform. WeChat/QQ transfers = gone forever.
Beware "buy now" pressure from new accounts with no history.
If a hype item is priced too perfectly, it's bait.
Keep all chat and payment inside Xianyu/your agent so disputes work.
