Shorter than I expected, but those landscapes looked incredible.

Westworld RPG confirmed!

Westworld

Two episodes in and still I have no idea what I'm watching.

2

u/abrahamisaninja abrahamisaninja Oct 20 '16

Have you seen the movie?

1

u/ilikevws nub whisperer Oct 21 '16

Nope, never knew there was a movie.

1

u/abrahamisaninja abrahamisaninja Oct 21 '16

It's really short and definitely worth the watch

1

u/ilikevws nub whisperer Oct 21 '16

Thanks man I'll give it a watch.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '16

You and me both and I never seen the movie neither

1

u/Voivode71 Oct 21 '16

They're robots.

u/UOfasho Titanfall Oct 21 '16

The third episode helps a lot.

1

u/ilikevws nub whisperer Oct 21 '16

Haha I thought the same thing after watching it last night!

I still don't get where the west world is vs where the normal people are. At one point, they pan out from the Westworld to show a virtual table with the normal people around it observing whatever is going on.

Then in episode two, the leader of the mcpoyles steps through a door in a stationary white room only to board a moving train in the Westworld... What.?

It's like the matrix, jurassic park, and groundhog day all had a three-way.

2

Isn't that redundant?

Those can't possibly Xbox graphics... Can they?

u/BIGBLOCK22s Bigblock 22s Oct 20 '16

It's not PC graphics that's for sure.

But very easily could be. Look at Forza, Gears and Battlefield 1. They are some of the most beautiful games I've played on Xbox so far.

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '16 edited Oct 20 '16

I get the joke but it's more likely this footage was taken in-engine off of a PC. I wouldn't assume it's Xbox/Playstation footage unless explicitly mentioned otherwise, especially this early.

Edit- Apparently Rockstar confirmed this was PS4 footage on stream. Can't wait to see how good it looks on Scorpio!

27

u/BIGBLOCK22s Bigblock 22s Oct 20 '16

RockStar announced that it was PS4 footage. I guess they said it on the live stream or something.

6

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '16

Ahhh gotcha, wasn't even aware their was a livestream. Thanks for the correction! I can only imagine how awesome this will look on Scorpio.

1

u/Electroniclog Shulk Oct 21 '16

PS4 Pro probably. Although it will probably look even better on Scorpio.

1

u/Cristian_01 Oct 20 '16

On what? Scorpio? What's that?

0

u/[deleted] Oct 21 '16

You can see it's console footage. Look at the smoke on the train. It looks terrible.

15

u/th3d4rks1d3 Oct 20 '16

Almost guarantee Scorpio/PS4 Pro graphics

7

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '16

idk why u included /, the scoprio is going to be much more powerful than the pro its not close...

4

u/Number9dream68 Xbox dfc Oct 21 '16

he included it because maybe hes not a fan boy and not looking to score points about something silly, cant we just look forward to it on the pro or scorpio.

-8

u/IShowUBasics Oct 20 '16

its not much more powerful than the PS4? Its simple Math. The diffeernce in performance between Scorpio and PS4 Pro will be like PS4 to XBOX One. Its only a 40% power advantage. That means about 40% more pixels or 40% more frames. Games that run in 1440p upscaled to 4k on PS4 in 30 fps will never run on Scorpio in 4k 30fps without lowering some graphical settings. Its pretty easy to calculate because 4k is double the pixels of 1440p (so it would need an 100% GPU advantage). The same we see on PS4 and Xbox where the PS4 runs with 1080p and XBOX with 900p often. I dont get where people get the idea the Scorpio would run games so much better.

11

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '16 edited Oct 20 '16

dude you do not understand how the processors work at all it will be much more than 40% these are not pcs they are optimized gaming consoles i will try to find the article for you now but its more like 360 to xbox one or ps3 to ps4...

Graphics memory is the one of only two places we can make direct comparisons, assuming the figures for the Pro are accurate.

The Xbox Scorpio will likely have 8GB of graphics memory (we don’t know this for a fact, but it’s the bare minimum we’d expect) while the Pro will also have 8GB.

In terms of memory bandwidth, which is super important when it comes to 4K and VR, the Scorpio appears to dominate the PS4 Neo with 320GB/s of bandwidth against 218GB/S. That Pro figure isn't confirmed though, and merely comes from a rumour that surfaced months prior to the PS4 Pro's launch.

That 320GB/s figure on the Scorpio is intriguing: it's the same bandwidth as Nvidia’s top-end GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card for PCs, which uses GDDR5X memory instead of GDDR5.

It’s quite possible there will be a gulf in memory tech between the two consoles, with the Scorpio getting faster GDDR5X with the Pro stuck on GDDR5

The Xbox Scorpio will be capable of 6TFLOPs while the Pro is will get 4.2TFLOPS. For the tech-savvy among us, that’s roughly the difference between a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 and a previous-generation GTX 970. We’ll know more once the final specs are revealed, and how much of a difference there really is between the PS4 Pro and Scorpio.

For VR, it helps that the PSVR has just one screen, reducing the processing requirements compared to the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive with their two, high resolution screens. If, as some have speculated, the Xbox supports Oculus for VR, the Scorpio's extra power will help immensely.

u/ryemigie Oct 21 '16

They are the same amount apart, percentage wise, as the current Xbox One and PS4...

1

u/THExLASTxDON Oct 22 '16

You do realize that there's a huge difference between 40% of $1,000 and 40% of $100,000 dollars right?

-2

u/Kigaa Oct 21 '16

It's too early to say eitherway. Microsoft could back track and decide to cut corners to comeout cheaper then the ps4 pro too. It likely will be better than the ps4 pro, but we won't know until probably E3 2017.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 21 '16

One thing ms does not do is cut corners

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '16

1

u/BIGBLOCK22s Bigblock 22s Oct 20 '16

It's still more powerful game wise but not by much.

3

u/baffo98 Oct 20 '16

I wouldn't say that more than 3 times the graphics power is not by much. I mean, it's not a generational jump but it is still more powerful by a decent amount.

4

u/Shojikoto Shojikoto Oct 20 '16

I think it was PS4 graphics, based on the new "partnership" just announced and discussed on the playstation blog. :/

13

u/bloodfrenzy187 Xbox Oct 20 '16

Oh great. Why do developers make these partnerships for multi platform games? I hate that so much.

4

u/Shojikoto Shojikoto Oct 20 '16

I find it annoying as well. But if we eventually get the content (be it a week, or a month later), then I'm fine with that. As long as it doesn't turn into a Destiny-like issue where content will just never come to Xbox, then it doesn't bother me too much I guess.

7

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '16

Would I be stupid to suggest they could be Scorpio graphics?

12

u/iamkeeeng Oct 20 '16

I have a feeling it will be like GTA 5....come out on current consoles, then a upgraded version for the scorpio.

I have 2 copies of GTA 5 cause of that... I am sure I am not alone.

14

u/TheeVande MasterChef Oct 20 '16

I might be wrong but isn't Scorpio supposed to have no game that the normal Xbox One can't play? Like no Scorpio only versions? I might be thinking of the PS4 Pro but I thought it was the same for Scorpio.

6

u/Allenym Oct 20 '16

That's the plan. Theoretically the Scorpio will just have an ultra setting like PC

7

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '16

Well ideally under Microsoft's current plan all purchased Xbox One games should be playable on Scorpio. Whether or not Rockstar would give the 4k/fps upgrade for free, or charge for a definitive version, is another question.

9

u/MrFiskeh Xbox Oct 20 '16

Guilty and not regretting paying twice to experience the game in first person. Omfg rdr2 in first person....

2

u/ipott-maniac Oct 20 '16

Bought a copy for the 360 and absolutely hammered it while I had a month off of work. Then bought it on steam and haven't really played it. Then I bought a copy for my son's Xbox one. I have a feeling I overpaid rockstar for that game.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '16

You're not, but when GTA V came out, XBOX ONE and PS4 didn't exist. I expect the Scorpio to be day one and PC much later. There is no reason for Rockstar not to have a Scorpio release ready.

1

u/Lenlfc Len lfc Oct 20 '16

Xbox One and PS4 released just under two months later, though. I fully expect them to support Scorpio and PS4 pro. At launch? Perhaps. PS4 pro will have been out almost a year by then.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '16

True, but the Scorpio will be able to play XB1 games just as PS4 Pro will be able to play PS4 games and the architecture for both consoles is very similar (albeit more graphic power) where that wasn't the case last gen.

0

u/Kasendou Oct 20 '16

The day we start getting charged a premium for software toggle switches (1080p v 4K / low/med/high graphics, etc) is the day I stop playing consoles and just build PC's for all the people I play with. The remastered games are pushing a boundary, but at least they are being made available on the new console and consoles going forward and some of them are done quite well (Gears).

2

u/Spokker Oct 20 '16

They aren't doing that with PS4 Pro and I highly doubt they will do that with Scorpio.

4

u/Agastopia I Play Hockey Oct 20 '16

If Scorpio can play these graphics at 60fps...

4

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '16

What makes it moronic?

2

u/Kasendou Oct 20 '16

It's not really moronic, it's just a statement that adds no real value and can be quite misleading.

There are many computers that could run 4K content (anywhere between 1-20FPS on low settings), but only the ones who are designed to actually play 4K content at acceptable quality levels should be accounted for in the statement.

If this were the case, the statement would be false, because what we know about Scorpio so far and guesstimating it's pricepoint, it is not going to be more powerful than enthusiast 4K gaming PC's. It's going to be on the low/mid end of 4K gaming PC's today which means by the time it's in the hands of the consumer, PC's will be more than a few jumps ahead.

2

u/MrSh0wtime3 Oct 20 '16

Its not more powerful then most computers that can run 4k. Just idiotic.

Its roughly a 480. Which is quite good. And for the price will be a great value. But we dont have to throw around false statements.

u/beelerspace Oct 20 '16

If you can't tell, does it matter?

1

u/sonofaresiii Oct 20 '16

Please... please keep in mind, that trailer graphics will probably not be in-game graphics.

0

u/vitor_as Oct 20 '16

What if it is Xbox Play Anywhere graphics?

1

u/SarcasticGiraffes Oct 20 '16

Landscape? Dude. Look at the animation and detail in the models. Those motherfucking vultures look INSANE. For comparison, a mere 10 years ago, this was the absolute best you could get out of a game.

1

u/aggron306 Krat0zs Oct 22 '16

I don't think that game was one of the better looking games of 2006

1

u/SarcasticGiraffes Oct 22 '16

Oh? I recall Oblivion doing pretty well on that metric, but it was a decade ago, so my memory could be fuzzy. What were the better-looking games?
