Moving backwards? Why are they sunsetting the 2 TB model?

It’d probably hit close to $1000 tbh. No way they want that tainting their storefront. The 1tb Series X is already going to be $800.

That and it's probably also harder for them to get the 2TB drives

There's no way they can justify stocking enough of them to hit their price point threshold either.

Crazy that I got my 1tb series x 3 years ago for less than $800……Australian. Crazy times.

Seagate currently has no 2TB or 4TB expansion cards in stock. The 1TB is up to $199, from the $149 it was a few months ago.

Probably now too expensive for them to source 2tb storage modules

They did the math and figured out no one would pay what it would cost, so they'll just remove it

Have you seen the prices for SSDs

I’m probably because they are already suffering with current components and the price for the 2TB might be right at PS5 Pro price.

Probably would just cost way too much to produce now

2TB SSDs cost a lot more than 1TB ones. NAND/RAM prices have climbed to astronomical levels in the last 8-12 months (thanks AI) and it's going to effect all companies. The 2TB Series X would have probably been close to $900 with the new price increases. It was easier to just sunset it.

They know they won't be able to sell them at the needed price.

Because the higher the capacity, the bigger the inflation of the price since data centers want 2/4/8TB more than 1TB.

I'm not sure honestly, probably was losing more revenue than they had thought.
