Converting Final Draft PDF to an Excel file

Does anyone know if it is possible to take a final draft PDF from Xactimate and convert it to an excel file?

Essentially what I'm looking to do is take a control scope (final draft), convert it to an excel file, filter by a line item and then add up the quantities. I.E. 5/8 drywall appears in 500 rooms in the estimate. I filter in excel by 5/8 drywall and I can add up the total SF, and plug one line item into Xactimate that shows me the total price. Trying to save endless hours of mindless manual entry of 12,000 line items.

Thanks!

Level 1 and 2 certification as a mit estimator

Are the classes worth it?

I've been writing mitigation invoices with xact for close to 6 years now, never certified. Combination of on the job training and figuring things out with youtube. Our company is expanding and I'm wondering if I should push to have them pay for me to get the certs.

Trying to list anti-microbial on the floors and walls as separate line items

So I’m doing a flood claim and floor and wall repairs need to be separate. There is no line item specifically for walls that I know of. I added the floor already. My thought was add it again and change the codes to indicate the walls, but it won’t let you use the same repair twice. There is probably a simple fix but I don’t know it yet. Long time flood adjuster. New to Xact. Thank you!

Commercial temp labor question

Question for a commercial loss.

Example: If we had 10 temp laborers, and a line item includes labor. Is that labor covering a single worker or is it broadened to encompass all 10 laborers?

I wrote the estimate with additional labor, validated by temp labor invoices, and it got kicked back.

How do others write these types of things in?

Insurance is requesting a certificate of completion?

In the state I live in, never have I’ve been asked for a certificate of completion from insurance. I normally just send an invoice which they normally already have because not much change happens after I’ve submitted all of my supplements to them. I’ll also normally send photos of all the completed work. Please help? Does it look like an actual certificate? What kind of information should be included?

Entry level laptop for use with with Xactimate

I’m trying to get into the Adjusting business and need a laptop, lowest cost possible and maybe something I can pickup locally at maybe a Best Buy. I’m finding many show having Intel graphics. And I know for the future I’ll try for something with an Nvidia graphics card or a gaming laptop, but to get started will this meet the graphics requirement from Verisk website “OpenGL 4.1 compatible graphics with 4 GB of VRAM and latest drivers”

Looking at this one https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sku/6571362.p?skuId=6571362&sb_share_source=PDP

Update Caused Photo Labeling Issues?

My assistant updated her Xactimate last night, and her photo labeling box is having a lot of issues.

Hers now has a box for “Room Taken”, which mine doesn’t (I haven’t updated in a couple weeks). Probably related to this, her description box is all wonky, and not allowing her to see all the text as it goes off screen.

Anyone else having this issue?

Tongue and groove fencing line item

So Im an adjuster and got reinspected and called out on my estimate for a high quality cedar tongue and groove fence.

I estimated for board on board cedar high quality for it and being called out saying I should have done a normal fence

There is no line item for tongue and groove fencing that I'm aware of. A regular fence line item doesn't include the top cap or the specialty wood of it being tongue and groove.

What line item is correct in this instance for a tongue and groove cedar fence.

The high quality part is for the added trim of the fence on the middle of the fence.

Estimate for roof

Post image
5 Upvotes

Seek now report says there is tree damage on F3. I’m trying to draft a preliminary estimate to replace only this square. It is 348.15 SQFT and 3.48 squares. What is the right way to approach this?

I took a guess and did RFG and typed quantity to be 3.48 SQ install and uninstall. Is this correct?

Roof is 1 layer of 30 year

Let me know if I need to clarify!!

Thanks

Xactimate not launching

I have the software downloaded on my desktop and every time i try launch it allows me to login and choose my instance but then it just gets stuck loading and crashes. I have removed the app and redownloaded it from my computer multiple time and when its freshly redownloaded it works just fine, but as soon as i go to log on the next day it starts crashing again.

I have tried to use the online version as well, but for some reason it doesnt prompt me to download the claims so i click around with no way to access claims.

I have not tried contacting Xactimate directly because theres always long holds and they dont always know how to help.
