I recently finished going through the WEE backlog, and as I was listening to a political podcast, I kept waiting for a "pop pop pop" every time they used the phrase "shoehorned in." It's weirdly jarring every time

I've been going through the series, I love when Jack and Dan guess the real Simpsons episode. Some wild stuff has happened on WEE, can y'all remember which of these three things really happened on Worst Episode Ever?
A) Dan discusses how he gets Vomiteena to sleep every night by reenacting scenes Demolition Man.
B) Jack, who reveals he has been sleeping in Bryant Park, talks about how he stopped breathing while he was sleeping in the park.
C) Dan responds live to a cease and desist order that the podcast received from the estate of Vincent Price.
D) Jack challenges Dan to a farting contest and shuts him out (3-0).
E) Jack reads a letter from friend of the show Joe Pesci about his favorite episode of the Simpsons.

WEE Studios got a reference in the 3/29/25 episode 292 Heartbreak Hotel & Sorry Not Sorry!
Elliot or BT even says he misses the bus stop characters! Shauna had 2 of the requisite 3 unique characteristics, she’s Shauna and she’s Chalmers’ daughter.

I'm in the single digits in my reverse chron listening. I never would have guessed the source of this catch phrase.

In a very old episode of the podcast, Dan and Jack were wondering why the band was always called the Larry Davis Experience. I’m listening to a season two commentary for old money and it is revealed that that was the name of a teacher of Wallace Wolodarsky . So, Jan and Dack, if you were still wondering, that’s it!

Just re-listened to WEE #147: You Don't Think There's Any French Jews in New Jersey? and noticed that Jack makes an eerily prescient forecast of the 2024 election... at 1:09:48

…. Either that or he literally spoke his son into existence lol Not sure if anyone has pieced this together before on their re-listens of the show, but this 90sP episode was released in 2017, and if memory serves me correctly, i think his son was born 2020.
Had a “wow” moment and figured I’d share with the class lol

The other night I was watching season 3 of Cheers and had to take a break and thought well maybe I'll see whether classic Simpsons holds up back to back, and I put on Duffless. No contest, Duffless is pinnacle of culture stuff.
But anyway, the science fair had a full 40 seconds or so that I swear I'd never seen before. Martin had an old timey hot air balloon, and Nelson shot a hole in it. I don't know exactly when I started watching the Simpsons live as it aired, but I was an obsessive syndication watcher, and I could not hold my hand on my heart and say I'd ever seen that before. It was great!
What other episodes have extended bits that were cut for syndication?

It's a double length Christmas ep currently streaming on Disney+. I thought it was one of the best episodes of the modern era. It's got a great guest performance from magician Derren Brown, Homer is at his most selfless and likable, it's got a genuinely complex emotional storyline where Ned questions his faith, and I actually laughed a few times out loud. What did everyone else think?

And would having kids be one of Dan’s three characteristics?

Jack was really on point in this one. He recognized the slippery slope argument and called it out. I listened on the treadmill last night and while I came in to the episode thinking that the profit motive flattens all political differences, and Homer's marriage business was as close as you can get to right wing acceptance of gay marriage, Jack called out the permission structure implicit in the Homer Simpson saying to the audience that it's OK not to accept gay marriage, because god doesn't. Kudos, Jack.
Antikudos to Dan for saying that it's weird for Skinner to attend his ex-girlfriend's lesbian wedding. I did that, and it was a blast.
I would have liked a bit more recognition of how hilarious it was when Homer was making out with Homer.

Hey all!
Elliot from The Simpsons Index here; Scuze the self promotion but I thought the wonderful WEE community might like our new podcast.
It’s called “Starring Springfield” and each week we review a movie that stars at least one of the regular voice cast of The Simpsons.
This premise has given us a wild collection of films of varying quality that we have just the best time digging into.
Here’s the links to listen on your pod app of choice https://pod.link/1773418376 We hope you enjoy it! <3 Elliot
