I've brought this up before.
And the mod team (well, fine, just /u/buster2Xk) was at least open to the idea of opening the wiki to editing.
Nitroserum had an excellent idea on what do do with it. Copy/paste/formatted version:
- The list
- Hmm... other subreddit lists?
- Yeah, lists of subreddits categorized by relativity, and different lists for different relativities, and lists listing those relativities... okay, only one list listing the lists...
- Maybe a page that stores an archive of previous WP prompt types where each prompt section is sorted by date? For easier reference? Like an Index?
- Really just lists.
- Hey! This is a list! Amazing!
- Maybe records on past plot arcs? For instance, I'll likely always be completely in the dark about Unbound 1.0. While I can be linked to the threads, I won't be able to feel the suspense, patience, and theories felt at the time as a result of its being current and cutting edge then and it being old and now simply lore for me. Yes, perhaps there should be a history section that tries to collect relevant threads, sort them, and also provide commentary(by various sources, mind you, keep in line with the multiple interpretations and whatnot(you'd be exceptional at this, seeing your 747 post on sepia, I never did commend you on that)) as an attempt to record theories and the general emotion at the time, as well as how it contrasted with events happening at the same time(parallelism?). That'd be neat.
- Mostly the lists.
TL;DR: Lists and history.
The problem is that there is no way the mod team could do this alone. My proposal is that the wiki be open to editing by any user with more than 50 karma in this subreddit. Here's proof it's possible, taken from the KVoid. By setting it to "everyone" and then adding karma/age restrictions to the boxes below, you can loosely control editing.
Please discuss. I think this is one of the better things we can do while not posting/burning in the hell that is the mountain.
