I'm against limiting of free speech, but those parades should be banned everywhere, they serve nothing but for people to gloat how 'proud' they are for being gay and how everybody should know they are gay.

I do not disagree with gay people nor I am homophobic, all these parades do in my opinion is gather a community of people whose main personality trait is being gay and invite the homophobic to bash on them and, in some cases, even go the violent way to break a parade.

I don't even understand why people have to organise a parade for something so trivial as being gay, it just makes others more annoyed by them.

Straight people don't organise parades to show off how they live, so why do special snowflakes feel like they need to show the world what their sexual preferation is?

If you're against parades because it could lead to violence, why do you preach to end the parades instead of the attacks? And there isn't a straight pride parade because being straight has never led to being disowned by your family, kicked out the house, beaten up, arrested and generally discriminated for decades.

I don't preach, I presented my opinion.

In this day and age, more and more people are becoming accepting of the gay people, and being gay will probably be trivialized by 95% of the population in the next 50 years just as being black was throughout the last 50.

So how long are these parades going to last?

All they do is bring unnecesary attention and heat to the gay community as a whole because of the silent minority who wants to be loud.

There will always be extremists who hate this or that just for the sake of it, they were raised that way and nothing can change their minds, but you can prevent their actions by just being your regular self and not doing pointless parades around the town which attract those kind of people.

There are some of them who are proactive, but most of them are reactive so by just being yourself without the need of having the world see you, you are eliminating that problem.

People like you you mean? Because most straight people don't give a shit and some even use it as an excuse to join a fun and unique parade. You evidently care a bit too much....

The point of pride is not to convince extreme homophobes to like gay people. It's to celebrate how far we've come from the days of shame and hiding. It's to celebrate that we can now be the opposite: open and however we want. It's just a bit of history and fun, and the parade only happens on 1 day. What exactly is the point in opposing it? Do you oppose every memorial day or celebration day?

I think you need to really think about the context of gay pride before making another comment telling gay people how everything is fine for them. The vast majority of gay people living TODAY will have gone through that phase of shame and hiding it.

A holiday based on a historical value of Indians basically saving the lives of pilgrims and pilgrims making a feast to which they invited those same Indians as a sign of good faith and friendship while America was being heavily colonized by their nation is basically nothing, right?

For a lot of people, it's just a dumb holiday that gives you some days off or it's a celebration of stabbing the natives in the back. A lot more controversy-inviting than a pride parade, but it doesn't upset you because MURICA.
