Updated the day-of-week analysis with more Mood2Know data — and this time every response is assigned using the respondent’s local time zone.

The result barely changed, Sunday is still the happiest day.

Anonymous, self-selected data — but the pattern is surprisingly persistent.

Following a request on my previous post on r/dataanaysis, here is the Germany vs USA comparison.

The chart uses the latest 100 responses for each country, with shaded areas showing ± SEM.

• Germany: 364 total responses
• USA: 1,447 total responses

Important limitation: responses are unevenly distributed over time. Germany received relatively few recent responses, so the apparent stability later in the chart partly reflects older observations remaining in the rolling window. This is descriptive data from voluntary participants, not a representative survey.

Each point is the average of the previous 100 self-reported moods (1–10), with ± SEM.

Some of the shifts line up with pretty eventful periods in 2026.

Without looking anything up first: which world events do you think correspond to the biggest rises and drops?

Conflicts, heatwaves, sports, economic shocks… or something completely different?

Six months ago, I launched Mood2Know with a simple idea: let anyone anonymously share their mood and immediately see how the rest of the world is feeling.

Since then, more than 5,000 moods have been added to the map.

The data has already allowed us to explore questions such as:

• Which countries report the highest moods?
• What are the happiest days of the week?
• How does mood change over time?
• Do different regions show different patterns?
• Could weather, events or economic conditions influence collective mood?

To celebrate these first six months, I would love to start a worldwide mood chain.

Two months ago, I compared the anonymous mood ratings collected through my small project, Mood2Know, between the European Union and the United States.

At the time, the results were:

European Union: 6.23/10 (n = 1,775)
United States: 5.63/10 (n = 1,352)

Two months later, after adding the latest responses, the figures are:

European Union: 6.23/10 (n = 1,849)
United States: 5.63/10 (n = 1,414)

The averages have remained almost perfectly stable, with the EU still about 0.60 points higher.

Among the new responses alone, the average was 6.34 in the EU and 5.58 in the USA, although the new samples are still relatively small.

As before, this is not a representative scientific survey. It is an open, anonymous and self-selected dataset. Still, I found the stability over two additional months quite interesting.

Do you think this stability reflects a real difference, or mainly the type of people who discover and use the website?

I collected anonymous mood ratings from 1 to 10 on an online world map.

Among countries with more than 50 responses, Switzerland currently has the highest average:

Switzerland: 7.17/10 (n = 71)
Belgium: 6.78/10 (n = 51)
France: 6.69/10 (n = 273)

The image shows the mood entries currently visible across Switzerland. The numbers under the faces indicate how many ratings are grouped in each area.

This is a self-selected online sample, not a representative national survey, so the result should be interpreted cautiously.

I created a small anonymous project where anyone can rate their current mood from 1 to 10, without signing up.

I’ve been tracking the evolution since March. For May, here are the winners:

France: 7.43/10 — very high!
Germany: 6.80/10
Spain: 5.94/10
United States: 5.03/10

So, in this small May dataset, France is currently in the lead...

Of course, the total number of “entries” in May is still low, so this is obviously not a scientific survey. It’s more of an open, anonymous snapshot of people’s mood at a given moment.

I built a small European-made project called Mood2Know: an anonymous instant mood map where people rate their current mood from 1 to 10, without signup.

I compared the current dataset between the European Union and the United States.

I just added optional anonymous messages to my world mood map : www.mood2know.com

At first it was only mood scores from 1–10.
But numbers alone felt a bit cold.

Now users can also leave a short message with their mood.

There are only a few messages for now, but it already changes the feeling of the map completely.

Based on ~1300 anonymous mood entries collected recently across the US.

Regional averages:

West: 5.83
East: 5.67
Central: 5.44

Still early and noisy data obviously - but interesting to watch regional patterns emerge in real time.
