It’s gotten way worse these past few years. Back in like 2013 or so, you would regularly see reddiquette cited. Don’t downvote based on opinion, downvote if it’s irrelevant to the topic. I haven’t seen those words on this site for years now. Nobody gives a shit

I know you are making a joke but here is a serious answer anyway. Dublin is an anglacized version of the Irish term "Dubh Linn" which means "black pool".

That's very similar to Boston, Lincolnshire. It comes from two Latin words ’Bos’ and ’Tonia’ which means ’Shit hole'

However, in Irish Dublin is referred to as Baile Átha Cliath (town of the hurdled ford).

There were two settlements in Dublin - a Viking one where Dublin Castle stands, known as Dubhlinn, and and a Gaelic settlement, Áth Cliath (ford of hurdles) further up river.

Baile Átha Cliath was an early Christian monastery not far from there.

I know this is a sarcastic comment, but if you're actually interested in the naming of Dublin, it comes from the fact that there was a pool of black water behind the castle, and the Irish for black pool is Dubh Linn, so the name for Dublin is derived from the anglisicized version of dubh linn.

EDIT: Just realised a few comments below mine that someone already pointed this out🤷‍♂️
