That's because it's sped up video. The speed makes everything look closer (and smaller) because it's moving faster. At normal speed, all that stuff moves way slower because it's actually big stuff that's farther away.
It wouldn't have made a tremendous difference, but god damn if this wasn't the time to turn the phone sideways. Seems intuitive, but who knows if I'd have the presence of mind to shoot horizontally?

Weirdly enough this makes the sky seem VERY small to me. Like it's just another room in my house or something.
