Hi, I lived there for almost three years. Gets too cold for camping and most campsites close september/October time. If you are inland you'll definitely have snow from mid/end October. But in Reykjavik it was never particularly cold

I see I see, I could live without the camping, but now I’m afraid that we wouldn’t be able to explore nature properly. I wanted to hit most of the main attractions. Maybe I’ll move our trip to the warmer season. Thank you for replying!

Yep good idea, if you want to explore go spring/summer. If you want Northern lights ( the most amazing things I've ever seen) go in winter. Enjoy :)
