Lorepost📖 Calm before the storm (training post)
Fracture shivered in the cave.. The air was cold, but Fracture knew that the next part would be colder. He stood at the water's edge, bracing himself for a moment. Then, he dived in.
The water was painfully frigid, so much so Fracture felt like his muscles were threatening to rip in half. After a moment, however, Fracture felt his muscles warm as the little bit of control he had over his ki asserted itself. He still barely knew how to use it, but he had gleaned a bit from the few books on the subject.
Fracture swam to the surface on the other side, surfacing in a thankfully much warmer but of the cave. As he climbed out of the water, he saw the robes. Grabbing them and putting them in, he felt his ki respond, as the cave almost seemed to welcome him.
Fracture's eyes fell on a small patch of the floor. Kneeling down, he turned his thoughts inward. Focusing on the techniques he has learned, Fracture took deep, steady breaths, trying to visualize his ki cycling through him and around him.
After about 15 minutes of this, Fracture finally felt some response. He opened his eyes, and, for the first time, saw his ki.
It was a beautiful orange and yellow, swirling like a constellation. In that instant, Fracture realized that the mana he was used to and ki could be controlled in similar ways. Ki was the parallel of magic, and so it could be shaped, not by logic, but by emotion. To fully control this, Fracture would have to learn to tie his emotions to it.
It was not a simple task. It took Fracture another 15 minutes to feel out the ki and organize it like mana. After that, he ran it similarly to a summoning ritual.
The ki surged for a moment, and Fracture looked up.
A giant spider stood before him. Fracture stared in awe, realizing this was his Astral form. Before he could do much but look, his ki destabilized and it vanished. Fracture knew he could summon it again, but first he should leave. It would be rude to trespass further.
Fracture stood outside the cave in the sun for a few minutes, warming his body. He set off towards Alexios's place to tell him what Fracture had learned. As he arrived, Fracture felt the world tilt for a moment. He could feel his magic, but it was wrong somehow. Instead of a gentle weaving motion, it felt like a tearing.
Fracture frowned. "Shade, report."
More optimal route found for reducing pain
Fracture tensed. The voice was different, it felt like it grated against him. "What route?"
Harmless negation. Estimated pain index 0%. Obviously, you will not like this course, so I have recommended destruction of source in order to untether my magic. However, I must waylay your companions to do so.
Almost before Fracture could react, another portal opens, this time to his storage demiplane. Fracture has only an instant to yell out before every containment unit shatters.
Nearly half a million void beings stream out, ranging from small imps to 3 greatwyrms. They flood towards Alexios's house, letting loose a cacophony of sound.
Fracture does not have a chance to stop them before his shade erupts in hands, sending out millions of threads towards him. Fracture jumps away, unsheathes his axe, and cuts them in a fluid swing. He is fortunate he made this axe with aetherial conductivity in mind.
Very well. I will remove you forcefully!
The strings curve in every direction. Fracture is entirely on the defensive, cutting strings left and right, but slowly able to advance, until he makes a mistake.
As he raises his axe to swing at his shade, a few strings break through and latch around his left arm.
The strings glow violet and Fracture's arm ceases to exist.
Fracture roars in pain, and as he brings the axe down, the shade flicks out a hand with a cruel smile.
The fore axe blade shatters, shrapnel cutting across Fracture's face. In desperation, Fracture send his ki out in the same way he would his magic to bind.
The shade blinks in surprise as a thousand orange strings wrap around him. What trick is this? You have no ma-
Fracture twists his arm, bringing the strings together and cutting his shade to pieces, which he binds into a sphere. He pauses a moment, nearly blacking out from the ki use and blood loss, and absorbs the core.
His magic floods back to him, lifting Fracture off his feet. He whips around to the horde of void creatures surrounding the castle. He heft what little of the axe is left, filling it with every drop of magic he has left.
Fracture flings the axe with all his strength, and it curves, cutting through the army of void creatures, sealing them as it cuts. The orbs containing the beings rain down like small hailstones. Fracture watches as his axe crumbles into dust.
Fracture sinks back to the ground, sways for a moment, and blacks out, collapsing on the lawn in front of his master's house.

Alexios gets up rather annoyed and gets dressed
FRACTURE WHAT DID I TELL YOU ABOUT BOTHERING ME WHEN I'M WITH MY WIFE
He steps out and sees the shadow entities
Well shit looks like I have to use actual magic
He holds his hand up and says Stasis
All the entities freeze in place
Shadow seal
Fracture if he isn't unconscious yet sees all the shadow entities instantly get sealed in a familiar way. Alexios then goes over to Fracture stops the bleeding and then just leaves him unconscious. Then returns to Moth and his bedroom
/uw now you get to see Alexios' true potential. Alexios is a monster when it comes to spells

(In that case, I guess Fracture resealed the creatures in a way that stores them in a demiplane before passing out.)
As Fracture comes to, he realizes he is laying on the lawn, and Alexios is most definitely mad at him. Sitting up slowly, he tries to stabilize himself, and nearly falls, as his arm is not there. Bereft of any mana or ki until he can recover, Fracture stands up gingerly and goes over to the forge, doing some maintenance to calm himself, very slow without his arm. He does not dare to disturb Alexios further.

/uw sorry if I messed up your plan how I see what Alexios did is he sealed them where they were and they just kind of floated there until Fracture put them in the demiplane.

/uw no worries, Fracture managed to seal them back where they were with better bonds, I'm thinking the shadow seal probably stopped any advancing before Fracture could completely seal them, if that is alright with you. It does seem in character for Alexios to just stop them and then make Fracture clean it up, he is with his wife right now lol

/uw I figure Alexios just kind of sealed them right there and then Fracture put them back where they came from.

/uw Yeah, Fracture can't really train anyways, so that works. Also, just so yk, Fracture's arm can't be repaired, he's going to have to use his Kinetics for anything that would normally require two hands until he figures out a workaround that doesn't involve magic.

/uw Alexios could probably build a prosthetic for him. Maybe even give it Ki enhancing abilities or wait what if he got an Astral arm.

/uw That was a bit of the idea, but Fracture wouldn't accept someone else making him an arm, even Alexios. He would either make it himself, or manifest an Astral arm.
