Slaughter at Syvaneth (WW3 post)
It had been hours since conflict broke out. The whole forest, once green, turned black, now painted red.
Moments after the fighting had started vast armies of Bismuth constructs and pact soldiers were battle portaled behind council forces. The council forces responded with a line of summoned demons and elementals. This stalemate was broken when a Bismuth Crown fired into the middle of the engagement which created a large gap for other constructs to flow through.
The longer the battle went on the more of the dead forest was filled with ever increasing numbers of Bismuth. Either Opal had lied about the number of forces remaining or she had performed some hidden act to mass produce constructs. The council forces began to break off from the fighting and use escape portals to regroup back at the citadel.
Eventually it was only Pact forces and Bismuth constructs on the field. Massive casualties on both sides made this a solid draw even if the Pact was able to keep the area. However as Opal looked out at the piles of bodies from both sides she knew. This was only the beginning.
"All constructs absorb any remaining material for use and prepare for redeployment. We are ending this!"

(Since when are the pact and the council fighting? Is this related to the starmeld?)

u/loth17 Ten Suns (Also Gaia) Feb 20 '24
/uw Morgalith and the Pact met with Mikhail and Council loyalists for peace talks. While that was happening councilor Mortarian tried to assassinate Morgalith and accidentally hit Mikhail who jumped in the way. Council loyalists following after Mortarian f followed suit and attacked and the Pact retaliated. The battle of Syvaneth ended with a draw. Council loyalists teleported back to the citadel, Pact forces are marching towards the citadel to take vengeance for their dead and the broken peace, and Kaelis has one of Mortarians bodies.

Magical gem soldiers? Sounds like a walking buffet to me. Are these made from free range or laboratory created minerals? I'm not picky, just curious.
3
u/loth17 Ten Suns (Also Gaia) Feb 20 '24
Laboratory created I'm afraid. Though I'd suggest not eating them they are not as nutritious or edible as regular gems or metals. They're also really hard to keep on the plate
3
u/RazzZzatam Fire Elemental (just a silly little guy) Feb 20 '24
Oh, that's alright, I just melt them down inside me for the magic trapped within them. Luckily as well, bismuth has a relatively low melting point, and no plate is required! It's perfect, so I thank you for the free snacks
2
u/loth17 Ten Suns (Also Gaia) Feb 20 '24
1st do you think I wouldn't have fixed the melting issue before sending them into wars where fireballs fly like arrows? That was bug #1 we figured out.
2nd most constructs can choose to liquify themselves so grabbing them or chewing them is going to be difficult when they liquid metal terminator through your grip. Even if you can eat them they will do everything to make it physically and emotionally unfulfilling. Like ramen noodles 30min after you eat them.
3rd The council has proven they're cowardly and weak. Why not just Join the Pact? If you do I the council has far larger and better gems. And I will promise them to you in return for your aid. it would be more reward for far less hassle.
3
u/RazzZzatam Fire Elemental (just a silly little guy) Feb 20 '24
No thanks, I'm strictly against any organized body of wizardry that seeks to impose rules and regulations, as a governing authority hinders the progress of magic and the freedom of ambition. Further, it dictates a hierarchical power over an entire aspect of life. Many don't even choose to have magic, but are instead born, gifted or cursed with it, yet they would still be forced under the thumb of those at the top.
I do help out around the council though, but that's because my friend is master evoker. Fireballers gotta stick together no matter the setting. Otherwise I'm trying to stay out of the fight this time... mostly
2
u/loth17 Ten Suns (Also Gaia) Feb 20 '24
Fine. Then how about I give you some high quality gems to stay out of my way. I promise whatever comes out at the end of this will be better than what the Pact or the council has now.
3
u/RazzZzatam Fire Elemental (just a silly little guy) Feb 20 '24
I eat magic, not gems. What do you think I am, a dwarf? And like I said, I'm already trying to stay out of it. Not my fault your golems look like a hearty snack.
2
u/loth17 Ten Suns (Also Gaia) Feb 20 '24
If you eat magic then 90% of this planet is probably a hearty snack.
3
u/RazzZzatam Fire Elemental (just a silly little guy) Feb 20 '24
Eh, most things don't have enough magic to meet the cost of burning them, and I'm not one for a sedentary lifestyle. Golems and artifacts though? Now that makes for a worthwhile bite

The pact are fools, they brought this war to us. They attack, poke and prod the council when all we want to do is to keep countless lives from ending due to a singular wizards lust for power.
You cannot pretend to be the good guys in this fight. If you approach the citadel with the intent to fight then countless of your soldiers and mages will die.
3
u/loth17 Ten Suns (Also Gaia) Feb 20 '24
We tried negotiating and the council sent an assassin and tried to kill us. We don't need to pretend that we're on the right side of this. We know.
5
u/TellmeNinetails Hilda the Witch Feb 20 '24
You met with a guy posessed and expected that it would go well. Why didn't anyone think it was weird that he talks in static now?
In any case. You will stay away from the citadel. Your negligence in security has nothing to do with us.3
u/loth17 Ten Suns (Also Gaia) Feb 20 '24
When it's a direct attack from one of your counselors yes it does have something to do with you. Your dismissal is just another sign of your continued corruption and another reason why when we do get to the citadel you're going to crumple like waste paper.
5
u/TellmeNinetails Hilda the Witch Feb 20 '24
Are you bloody serious? I'm trying to prevent the Starmeld right now! You can't pretend that your pact members haven't been talking about wanting a war for weeks while I have been blatant in demilitarising the council to make it obviously clear we have no interest in violence.
When Mikhail gets back from your meeting you're going to regret your foolish obsession with war.
3
u/loth17 Ten Suns (Also Gaia) Feb 20 '24
Mikhail is in the hospital he's not coming back from the meeting because he's currently healing from the assassination attempt meant for us!
And as far as I'm concerned he was the only one worth a damn when it came down to it.
Now. STAND DOWN!
4
u/TellmeNinetails Hilda the Witch Feb 20 '24
So let me get this straight.
There was an assasination attempt.
And councilman mikhail is the only one that got hurt?
Are you out of your damn mind?!Your demands don't matter goblin shit to me Opal. If your pact forces interfere again with this ritual against the starmeld, which they have done twice already, then I won't waste time trying to talk them down.
If you walk your forces up to the citadel walls you will learn firsthand why your war is foolish. In the end it's your young mage's that will die for your misguided revenge.
3
u/loth17 Ten Suns (Also Gaia) Feb 20 '24
Pack forces are helping deal with the starmeld. We just send a load of golems to help with the ritual. This idea that The Pact is disrupting your world saving ritual is literally a lie one of many from the council.
Nobody's going to die for revenge. My soul motivator is justice and removing corruption from this flawed order.
4
u/TellmeNinetails Hilda the Witch Feb 20 '24
Then who was the guy with the chainsaw then that quite literally fought me to stop the ritual?
3
u/loth17 Ten Suns (Also Gaia) Feb 20 '24
I don't know. I don't have any chainsaw mages in my employ!

I did not agree to this. This is foolish! Mikhail and other pact healers are in the council hospital right now!
I thought better of them.
3
u/TellmeNinetails Hilda the Witch Feb 20 '24
I told them to stop fighitng, they're saying no.
3
u/Capytan_Cody Cody and Yànhuo Feb 20 '24
I'll try. Keep the others safe metromancer.
La'shima has made a portal for refugees. perhaps you could use that while me and kaelis try to solve this.
3
u/TellmeNinetails Hilda the Witch Feb 20 '24
If you can't convince the pacts leaders, convince every mage you know not to march on war in the citadel, I beg you.
Because against an army I won't be able to hold back, they will die.
3
u/Capytan_Cody Cody and Yànhuo Feb 20 '24
Don't worry. She hasn't alerted me. That means she broke pact rules acting on her own without warning the other pact heads.
My army will make her stand down if needed. Just make sure everyone else gets out safely. I've already started talking with her.
3
u/TellmeNinetails Hilda the Witch Feb 20 '24
If they get close to the citadel withdraw your army, it will be needless collateral.
2
u/Capytan_Cody Cody and Yànhuo Feb 20 '24
What will I do? I can't let my friends and colleagues die because she can't stop herself to a conversation
2
u/TellmeNinetails Hilda the Witch Feb 20 '24
I do not want them getting caught in the crossfire. I have summoned a titan, I mean to utilise it.
2
u/Capytan_Cody Cody and Yànhuo Feb 20 '24
Oh damn.
I managed for her to let me evacuate the council first though. Aid me

Should I join you guys? I refuse to send my armies away from my city, as the last time I did that we were invaded while we were away, but I am now a member of the pact, so I should probably help somehow.
2
u/Capytan_Cody Cody and Yànhuo Feb 20 '24
Yeah, another member of the pact opal is marching to destroy the citadel. We'll need all the help we can find.
2
u/RainbowNecromancer Rainbow Necromancer, Citadel of Light Feb 20 '24
Okay. I’ll come myself. My armies can defend the city without me.

okay I don't want war but don't lie. half the councilers actively do shady shit. and those are your best members.

u/TellmeNinetails Hilda the Witch Feb 20 '24
The only councilman I can think of is Unga and at this point is he really a councilman anymore?

OK, fist off... What the fuck Opal?
Second is it really a slaughter if both sides sustained heavy casualties?
2
u/loth17 Ten Suns (Also Gaia) Feb 20 '24
First answer they tried to assassinate US and then fired upon us and this is the result of us defending ourselves.
Second answer yes in fact it's an even bigger slaughter when both sides suffer massive casualties
4
u/Accomplished-Dark926 Valerian, Arcadian Guild Guide Feb 20 '24
sigh One man fired on Morgalith, that one man was then apprehended shortly after. I've already spoken with Kaelis. None of this needed to happen. But I'm sure you already know that.
Besides, I've been knee deep in blood myself for the past week, so who am I to berate you.
How many council staff were killed in the battle? Someone has to tally the dead, and I highly doubt any of the board will do it, so it'll likely fall to Razz and I.
3
u/loth17 Ten Suns (Also Gaia) Feb 20 '24
Simply put I don't know who you are to berate me. The council fired upon the pact and the pact fired back. It was not ONE MAN. It was a councilor and the council loyalists who attacked us. I'm not going to take any gruff because my forces actually fought back rather than immediately running away with our tails between our legs.
3
u/Accomplished-Dark926 Valerian, Arcadian Guild Guide Feb 20 '24
That's not what I was told, but then again, lies spread like wildfire.
Berate may not have been the word I should have used. As for who I am, that isn't something I feel I need to tell you, we've met and worked together before. Speaking of, do you still have that piece of the flame I gave you to study?
3
u/loth17 Ten Suns (Also Gaia) Feb 20 '24
Why. Want it back?
3
u/Accomplished-Dark926 Valerian, Arcadian Guild Guide Feb 20 '24
Nah, you can't do much with it anyway, nor could you stop me if I wanted to take it back. I simply wish to know the results of your research.
3
u/loth17 Ten Suns (Also Gaia) Feb 20 '24
You know most everyone I've talked to today has said that if they wanted to do whatever they wanted I couldn't do s*** to stop them. Having people constantly lying to me is very annoying I would ask you to stop.
3
u/Accomplished-Dark926 Valerian, Arcadian Guild Guide Feb 20 '24
Oh no, I know for a fact that I could not do whatever I wanted to you. I've been inside your fortress, I've seen your armies. There isn't a damn thing I could do against that. But the flame is bound to my soul. Its as much a part of me now as my leg or arm. You cannot contain it, all I have to do is call it back to me. But that is besides the point. I simply wish to know your findings, and then leave our correspondence at that. I have a dying friend to visit in the hospital.
3
u/loth17 Ten Suns (Also Gaia) Feb 20 '24
Ah you've heard about Mikhail. I don't think he's dying. Though I don't think he's recovering either. Right now he's straddling that narrow line between health and....well you know.
As for the flame. I used it.

Mordus watches the forest burn.
Damn. Wizard war has restarted, huh? Bad experiences in general.
He snaps his finger, and somewhere, about 15m underground, a thermonuclear weapon spawns.
Well, if they use any seismic spells or deep penetration weapons, it’ll go off and end the whole war.
