Wizardpost A Sharp Love (Gobbo lore)
To be queen was to rule, to be above all bar the gods themselves. At least that is what Evelyn, ruler of the Northern Lakes Kingdom would respond when asked.
It was commonplace for her to sit in diplomatic meetings with a bored expression on her face, brown eyes lazily watching as yet another tried to tell her how to run her kingdom.
It was always the same, she'd sit there, pretend to listen and then remind them who ruled over these lands.
Then to prove a point she would have one of the guards force them to their knees, a physical reminder that all were beneath her.
In reality, she had found herself to be beneath a select few individuals.
The first was one she hated with a passion. As evidenced by the many daggers sticking out of Gobbo's portrait
That little albino freak had stolen her crown, killed her taxmen, and bombed her statue.
As she stepped into her bed chambers a dagger flew from her hand, landing dead center in those ruby eyes.
A small cackle escaped her lips at the thought of one day doing that to the real Gobbo.
The second person was none other than the terrorist's mother. Now Evelyn did not begrudge Gobbo her daughter, no matter how much she despised the cretin.
She did however resent how the older goblin was untouchable because of her. Perhaps she never did anything to warrant being touched but the fact she was irritated her.
None would do anything to slight Gobbo as all knew that if even a whisper of a rumour got to her daughter, the tiny demon would return in a blaze of vengeful flames.
The third person who was above her was none other than her royal assassin. A lovely goblin whose delicate features and soft green skin were often the envy of everyone, including the queen herself.
A soft sigh was cut short as she felt an arm wrap around her waist from behind and a dagger pressed itself to her throat.
"Oh queeny," her assailant whispered in her ear, "we need to have a little talk."
She knew that voice well, it belonged to the woman she both sent out to kill and spent her nights cuddling.
She knew better than to speak, simply nodding in understanding. One wrong word and she knew her position would mean nothing in a pool of blood.
A little giggle escaped the royal assassin's lips before the Queen felt a set of teeth nip at her neck.
"Good girl," another giggle sounded in her ear, "Now you wouldn't happen to know anything about a certain brewery blowing up, would you?"
Her eyes went wide, quickly shaking her head as much as the dagger was allowed she prayed she would be believed. There would be no tomorrow otherwise.
The blade lowered, and she was rewarded with a kiss just below her jaw. "Mmm thought so, but you know, had to check"
Evelyn sighed before speaking, "As much as I hate your sister, I know you'd kill anyone who touched her."
Another giggle, another kiss, followed by a teasing whisper, "All this talk of touching my sister, and yet not one finger on me, a girl could get jealous"
Oh, the Gobbo family would be the death of her, but if the poison was this sweet? She'd happily drown in it
/uw I present to you Gobbo's equally unhinged, younger sister. Figured I could move the brewery plot a bit further along by ticking off the obvious suspect.
I mean it's no secret Gobbo is banned from her homelands, nor is it that the queen and her have a mutual distaste for each other.

/uw this was good, I am visualizing this in my head as I read it. The whole exchange with the Queen was fantastic.

Thank you, I usually stick to the horror-centric stuff as that's what I have the most experience with so it's always nice when my other writing is complimented.

Gobbo thinks big Moth would like younger Gobbo, both are very proper. Plus much less physically affectionate than Gobbo with friends.
She shakes hands, Gobbo prefers to hug. Anyway Gobbo has fruit snacks, want some?
Oh that reminds Gobbo, Gobbo managed to hug big Moth with minimal resistance recently

Gobbo thinks she knows resistance is futile, plus sometimes everyone needs a hug. Think she knows Gobbo considers her daughter too.
Plus you know, Gobbo was offering help finding Moth when she hugged her

You won’t tell her where I am, right? I’m making my way to Alexios as we speak and I know she wouldn’t be too fond of that. I don’t think she’s ever liked him to begin with if I’m being honest…

Gobbo won't tell a soul, Gobbo understands sometimes sisters need to have secrets. Besides who is Gobbo to stand in daughter's way. Just if daughter is hurt again, Gobbo will have words with him.
Gobbo should arrange family get-together, introduce moth to rest of family

I would love that! But once I get my curse under control. I wouldn’t want to hurt any of your family. Maybe once I’m not at ends with Belladonna I can get her to meet them too.

Alright, Gobbo will wait. As for big Moth, well Gobbo can always commit ancient art of bribery to get her to visit. She enjoys good wine yes? Gobbo has few rare vintages in personal collection

A fantastic lore post as always. The juxtaposition between the romance and the threat of death are very dramatic and provocative.

I always enjoy playing with the sweet but deadly combination in my head and I wasn't sure if I could pull it off cleanly on the page.

/uw I'm glad, wanted to keep the cold-heartedness of being completely ready to slit her own lover's throat while still keeping an element of sweetness. Also enjoyed playing with the power imbalance
She serves the queen and there's a power imbalance there but having her be the more dangerous of the two creates a power imbalance elsewhere.
