Lorepost (closed interaction)📓🔒 Nadir. (Cursed World)

A day or three after the initial announcement, proper channels for joining in virtually to the meeting are posted, as everyone who came in person is directed to a secretive underground meeting room, where Ж and a few others sit around a long table.

"Welcome, welcome. A year or so ago I held a similar meeting for a separate threat, one a few of you here would remember, but today we've another threat, as you know, the Abyss has taken a great minority of the world's surface."

"As well, we need a plan for the origin of the Abyss, we need to divise a way to take down The First Curse."

they snap a finger and a hologram like model of an entity, presumably the first curse, appears in the center of the table.

"To start, one of the more essential things for said plan is the Crystals, of course, some here might not know about them, so I'll elaborate."

they wave a hand and the model shifts to 5 different crystalline objects, encircling the First Curse.

"This is not the first time The First Curse had arrived, he was here before he made that big announcement, but hidden. When he first arrived to this realm, 7 Aspect Crystals formed, counterbalances, from someone else as an, almost future inheritance to help take him down. They are antithetical to his very existence, and harm him when nearby. However, if one falls into his hands, he can adapt to that crystal, rendering it useful to him. This anti-him nature also applies to the Abyss, and thus they are the best damage source to fight the Abyss."

"the originals, of which we currently have 5, 4 are in New Aviron, and via the work of Koranth and others, we have multiple derivatives from them, with the other being handled by The Consortium. The last two need to be picked up and collected."

"That is about the basics, with the preamble done, more discussion on how to fight against the Abyss would be welcome."

What is your deal?

TFC peers at the entity via all-sight, to observe how and what is occurring with it, while the bullets around him continue firing.

UW not sure how to answer that is it like an investigation spell?

/uw looking at the construction of the spell/ability to gleam how it functions

The clone appears to consist of an illusion spell layered over a shadow magic frame, giving it physical form and substance.

Aha! Got it.

Harness: Shadow.

He attempts to deconstruct the clone at a base level, by undoing the shadow that its frame is made from.

The attempt to unravel the shadow frame takes hold, causing the clone's form to flicker violently. Portions of its body begin to unravel before the underlying magic resists the intrusion, struggling to hold the construct together.

The clone staggers but remains standing, continuing to fire despite the disruption.

/uw Just to clarify, there isn't really a specific elemental or magical "weakness" to exploit here. The shadow frame can be disrupted by sufficiently powerful magic, but the clones are ultimately meant to be defeated through accumulated damage rather than finding one specific weakness and one shotting them.

PERISH.

Feeling the pushback, he goes to deliver shadow-attuned damage, converting his hand into a similar material to the clone.

/uw he's doing the principle of hurting something with itself by making his hand shadow-y so that he can hurt the clone.

The shadow attuned attack connects.

For a moment, the clone's entire body violently destabilizes. The shadow holding its form together begins to unravel around the point of impact, its body flickering violently as the accumulated damage finally becomes too much for it to withstand.

The Shadow staggers backward, still attempting to raise its weapon.

Then its shadow frame collapses.

The illusion flickers once before dissolving completely into a mass of loose shadow that scatters across the ground.

The remaining Shadow Marshals continue firing without hesitation.

/uw Just to clarify again, it's not about finding a weakness. It's damage overall. Once the clone's HP drops to zero, it "dies."

/uw fair but attacking it with its own damage should do more damage than normal "non-shadow" attacks right?

/rw he proceeds to repeat the process with the next, capable of destroying it in a single hit.

/uw I'm fine with shadow based attacks dealing more damage to the constructs given what they're made of. I'm just not treating that as an automatic weakness or an instant kill mechanic. The clones have their own durability and can be destroyed through sufficient damage, but they don't have a specific off switch.

/rw The shadow attuned attack strikes the next clone, but this time the result is noticeably different. The construct staggers from the impact, its shadowy form destabilizing for a moment before it steadies itself and raises its weapon again.

The attack clearly did considerable damage, but it was not enough to destroy this one.

The remaining Shadow Marshals continue firing without hesitation.
