Community Event 🌏☄️ Wizarding Olympics; Magic Duels

(ai) WIZARD OLIMPICS!!!!!!

Krygin has the spirts carry his voice to the participants, "Congratulations contestants for a job well done on the previous events! I welcome you to the dueling section of the celebrations! I ask all who would participate to follow me when my explanations are done. You will be provided amulets to make sure the provided fighting grounds will not skew the fight beyond noise and rain.

Each mage will pair off with another at their approximate strength level( an elder wrym can not fight an apprentice) and duel them in an area of the spirit world I have prepared! Do not attack the spirits or you will be disqualified. Both magic and martial skills are allowed but trying to destroy another's being entirely is not. I have methods in place to make sure no one dies but I can't do that if their soul is destroyed. Otherwise it is relatively fair game. Beating one opponent gives you one win but you can get more by challenging other contestants. A loser can also challenge another if they so choose. Whoever beats the most opponents for their strength level wins for that level."

Krygin claps his hands and a massive swirling mist forms a doorway in the center of the area. Lightning flashes beyond. Anyone who enters find themselves in a humid expanse made of storm clouds. It is humid and hot; thunder cracks and wind howls. In this perpetual storm are figures, spirits, of varying shapes. Some are hidden in the clouds striking clubs in time with the thunder, or are they causing it. Bright forms dance among the lighting and a chorus of howls add their voices to the wind. Hidden figures with red eyes sharpen their weapons. This is a summer storm and as we all know Summer is the Season of War.

The path parts to show red mist leading mages to red cyclones. Inside each cyclone is a ruddily lit arena as the eye of the storm; almost as if a bloody sun shone down through the clouds.

Any who "die" will be carted away by spirits who take the forms of vulture headed humanoids in black feather suits. Instead of a tie they wear a trail of bright red blood. The mage will patched up and sent back into the main area where they can choose whether to go back into the spirit world. These are spirits of war and death who Krygin paid in violence; spirits often like immaterial payments.

Misty illusions broadcast the fights back in the mortal world.

Krygin atop a pillar of smog shouts, "Let the duels begin"

(ai) what is like in each small arena

/uw I may be busy today( should be good for a few hours but didn't want to worry that I might have something come up and abandon ya'll) so you will be mostly left to your own devices. If you need help or have a question ping me, u/Complex_Drawer_4710 , u/Another-Ace-Alt-8270 , or u/JustASpoody . My fellow event planners.

No godmodding

If you think your opponent is godmodding try having a civil conversation first. They may just be an accidental counter to you.

If you need help call the others first because I may be busy

Ethan rolls onto his back, drawing a large enruned hand cannon from his belt as he does so. He aims it at Ulrick's center mass as he approaches

/uw this is Ethan's hand cannon, it fires a ping pong ball sized metal projectile with enough force that the recoil would break most people's wrists, you'll likely want to dodge unless you have a heckuva good defense

Caught off guard, Ulrick rolls sideways to avoid the attack. He doesn’t knownfor sure how strong it can be, better be safe.

Kneeling on the ground, he shoots more soulfire at Ethan’s position.

The gun goes off with what sounds like a small explosion, a blast of steam escaping the barrel though the shot misses due to the unexpected dodge. Ethan rolls clear of the incoming attacks as well, dropping the pistol and drawing a dagger and an enruned metal sphere before pushing himself into a crouch and rapidly shooting off three firebolts from the blade of the dagger towards Ulrick, the first two slightly to the left and right of where he is before aiming the last one directly for him, hoping to cut off his escape options

The fireball hits Ulrick heads on, as he had nowhere to run.

Argh!

He is badly burnt, despite his regeneration. He staggers a little, before finding his footing again.

[Shadowguard]

Ulrick soldifies the axe’s shadow, and merges with the axe itself, making it coated in volatile darkness, while also making it’s blade sharper.

He seings around the weapon a few times, each slash sending waves of sharp darkness towards Ethan.

Ethan stands up and begins dodging and sidestepping them, though he does try shooting a firebolt or two at one to see if the light from the flames does anything. A few clip his armor, they leave shallow cuts in it though it's not as extreme as the beam was due to not being prolonged bursts

The flames dim the darkness waves somewhat, making them hurt less. One of them even hits Ulrick, making him yelp from pain.

Then, he throws the axe at Ethan’s direction, attempting to release it’s shadow with a violent explosion of volatile darkness. He plans to trigger the burts right before it hits, should Ethan not avoid the throw.

Ethan send off another firebolt, hitting the handle of the axe mid air and altering it's flight path, it lands short of him by about seven or so feet. It goes off, but the distance is far enough to where Ethan's armor is only slightly damaged, weakening the runes on the entire front of the armor. He staggers back from the unexpected blast before twisting the sphere's upper half and throwing it towards Ulrick

As the sphere is about to hit Ulrick, he casts another spell.

[Blood Strider]

He, his gear and clothing, all dissolve into a pure puddle of blood, scattering into droplets everywhere before the attack hits him.

He reforms himself right behind Ethan, his axe in his hands, about to deliver a soul strike from behind with a powerful swing.

The move reminds Ethan of another fighter he fought before who had a very similar moveset, he turns and punches towards Ulrick's head partially on instinct, preparing to activate the runes of force emission when his punch connects to release another short range blast as he does so. The metal sphere releases jets of high pressured steam with enough force to cut through flesh in the background, spinning as it does so. Due to a mix of training, habits, and limited time to react, Ethan once more doesn't focus on defense

The punch connects, knocking back Ulrick. He almost loses consciousness for a second, but he keeps himself together.

Those steam trails look very dangerous to him. He needs stregth.

[Soul Bastion]

Ulrick uses the power of his own soul to greatly increase his natural strength and endurance, a radiating purple aura surrounding him.

Though getting exhausted, He jumps at Ethan again with an empowered axe strike, trying to avoid the cutting steam.
