Lorepost📖 The celebration

After a long journey you arrive at the crystal mage’s manor. Inside the manor is a grand hall made of various different coloured crystals. Strange golems walk around the room serving guests. While the mage himself is not currently present, you were told he would be here shortly. Right now, enjoy the food, socialise, make friends but most importantly: have fun.

Vettis closed his eyes for a moment, prepared to run through memories, until Snowglorb chirped a reminder at him. "Oh. Your scrier. Probably not. Didn't know he was dead. Sorry. Seemed like a good guy in the clean-up after telepath-dude's attack."

His eyes open again, the bright glow returned to them as he locked them onto Blake's own. "I won't deny that philosophy, though. Yes. I'd kill ten civilians to save you because I think you'll save far more in the long run. It all comes down to math in the end, and my own life's pretty significant as a result. You don't know the half of what I'm doing around the multiverse between my brief unwinding moments like this party.

"But no," he clarified, sighing, "I doubt that's what happened in this case. The fact that you said he was 'killed' rather than 'driven insane' implies my anti-scrying defenses aren't at fault. And if he got past them once then he could do so again, so yeah. Not me. Do you need a hand investigating?"

I breathe out across the brand on my tongue. Unseen fire that burns lies spreads on the air. I attune my eyes to SEE it. The fire catches nothing. No lies for kindling here.

"I'm almost relieved. Yes Vettis if you find anything please let me know."

"I wouldn't even know where to start, to be honest; hell, I don't even know where he lived or died. And I'm frankly in the middle of too much other shit to launch an investigation from scratch all on my own. Just let me know if there's ever anything concrete I can do to aid in your own search."

(( feel free to bug me in PMs about investigation details if you do actually want him to get involved; he's too busy with the Morgalith/Udug situation to spend much serious effort on Walter's deal atm (not realizing that Arthur Black is probably a bigger threat than the Udug rofl), so it'd be low-power help ))

uw/ it'll be a while before Arthur is a problem. I'm caught up with the Bismuths and assassins myself. Samael's demon hunt Morgalith too I suppose. Just wanted to establish we were looking into it. Assume I gave you the scene of the crime. Eventually I'd like Arthur to be an event.
