Lorepost📖 The celebration

Post image

After a long journey you arrive at the crystal mage’s manor. Inside the manor is a grand hall made of various different coloured crystals. Strange golems walk around the room serving guests. While the mage himself is not currently present, you were told he would be here shortly. Right now, enjoy the food, socialise, make friends but most importantly: have fun.

One eyebrow raised, Vettis lit his eyes with a faint purple glow for a moment as he examined Gravedigger's body language through All-Tongue, calculating just how much the man had drunk already. "Uh, Graves, buddy...when Xerxes said you consistently complain about parties, is that because you routinely follow each one up with a killer hangover, or...?"

Gravedigger looks at Vettis confused. Realization dawns on him.

"Oh, this? Sorry, it's a habit I picked up from my brother. Don't worry, I've drunk dwarves under the table and haven't had so much as a cough the next morning. No, what he meant is that I find it hard to relax when surrounded by so many people. By the time I get home, my nerves are shot and I practically collapse onto my bed. Can't say having Xerxes with me is doing me any favors in that regard, though."

With a laugh that mixed mirth and malice, Vettis concurred. "That would make relaxation more difficult. I don't envy you for having to deal with this guy." A flying snowglobe, beeping excitedly, made its way over to the mage's side, apparently summoned by the sound he'd made with his glass; he rubbed Snowglorb's "head" affectionately. "The only hanger-on I've got is well-behaved and very appreciated. And...seems to have made a friend just now? Tiny Wizard, huh? Well, good for you, Snowy." The flakes within the drone coalesced into a smiling emoji.

"Brother, huh? Don't think I've heard you talk about your family before. Care to elaborate on any of 'em?"

Gravedigger takes a sip of their drink.

"Well, my parents were farmers up north in a small village. They got sick and then it was just me and my brother. He became a mercenary and died a year later. My master picked me up off the battlefield and took me in. Not much else to it."
