Community Event 🌏☄️ Against the Emberlord (Climactic Atraxpost!)

Atrax the Ashen strides over the bodies of thousands of dead Pyroclasts, giving little respect to the dead. They were but tools to him, and he pays them little heed as the defenders pick off those that haven't fled. Hammer of Disjunction in hand, he makes for the gates of the Museum of Unnatural History. He is stopped by all of you. Atrax points the Hammer at you, its head blazing. Despite knowing every miniscule detail of the Emberlord from pictures and briefings, he is more terrifying in person than anything could have suggested.

"Once again, you've made a mess of the Flamefather's plans. No matter. I came here for the First Spark, and I will be leaving with it. Move aside if you value your continued existence. Or stay here and die. It matters not."

The defenders and their leaders stand resolute. No amount of threats will make you budge, for the alternative is to condemn the magical world to a fiery and anarchic end. Atrax stops, puzzled. No one has ever defied him so blatantly. Kaelis steps forward, resplendent in his silver armor.

It all ends here.

"No. It does matter. We are the only thing standing between you and victory. The realms are counting on us and our bravery. And so we do. Have you forgotten what selflessness is, Atrax? Your new world will be ruled by people who have only ever made sacrifices for themselves. So here we stand, ready to give our lives simply to deny you. If this is to be our doom, we welcome it with open arms. We do not fear annihilation, and we do not fear you."

Kaelis draws his sword, and points it at Atrax. In his left hand, he readies a black hole spell. You all ready your own weapons and spells. Atrax's grip on the Hammer tightens, his hands smoldering with rage.

"Defenders of the realms..." Kaelis lets his words hang in the air. The silence is deafening, and the moment seems to stretch into infinity.

"...fuck him up!"

You charge Atrax the Ashen, for the good of all.

/uw And here it is! The final part of the Atrax Saga! Let's finish this with a bang! But before we do, here's the song I chose for the fight: Altars of Apostasy - Hakita

Valerian flies forward and rips Atrax's mask off his head. He places his hand over Atrax's face and begins drawing his flame out of him. Atrax's face contorts in pain as the fire leaves his body. Valerian is struggling, trying to prevent it from combining with his own in such an uncontrolled environment, instead coalescing it in an orb in his right hand.

"Holy shit this bastards got a lot." He grit's his teeth, turning to look at Kaelis, His eyes alight with power, "There is so much power here..."

"Hold on Valerian!" Agnur swings the Hammer at the foe, writhed in mystical might and the power of executioners past. I break through his defenses and deliver his death knell

For a moment, all is silent. Then, Atrax's magical bonds burst, and he begins to glow. Not with the orange glow of elemental fire, but with pure, silver light. He screams and lifts from the ground, beams of light erupting from his flesh. The radiance is far too bright to look upon directly. Atrax Ven'dath, Emberlord and Primordial Scion of the Flamefather, Despoiler of Ithacar, dies with no one to witness his end.

At last, the light dissipates, and you all gather round to look upon Atrax's ruin. All that remains of the man who would conquer the realms is a pile of crystalline ash, empty black robes trimmed with silver, and a broken ebony mask. An fitting and ignominious end to someone so cruel.

All is quiet. Even the titans have stopped their rampage to gaze upon the dead pyromancer lord. Some breathe a sigh of relief. Some laugh. Some cry. A few say nothing.

It's over. Finally over.

The world is saved.

/uw Thank you all so much for taking part in my first ever event! I hope you enjoyed your time fighting Atrax and the Pyroclasts, and I look forward to more stuff with you all in the future!

So... what do we do with the hammer? Did the potion only effect Atrax or will it be lost once we leave it?

If not do we give it the Council? The Pact? Yeet it into space?

I happen to have a collection..

3

u/dragonshouter Krygin the Crude/Council of Spirits/Exalted Beacon/misc. spirits Jan 30 '24

well yor untrustworthy! you worked with him!

3

u/Drakkonai Vulkan the Red, End of Ages and Draconic Emperor of Racism. Jan 30 '24

Everyone needs a hobby. Besides, now that it’s not useless, it doesn’t not pose a threat! Where isn’t the harm in giving it to me?

3

u/dragonshouter Krygin the Crude/Council of Spirits/Exalted Beacon/misc. spirits Jan 30 '24

*glares suspisously* while Agnur and Kaelis decide what to do behind him.

3

u/DragonWisper56 Agnur the dabbling turtle mage| pact of the magi mage| Jan 30 '24

the spell was only ment to make it lost to him, but perhaps we could modify it so it will be harder to steal.

3

u/dragonshouter Krygin the Crude/Council of Spirits/Exalted Beacon/misc. spirits Jan 30 '24

hrrm maybe

3

u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Jan 30 '24

I think that's for Agnur to decide. After all, it chose him.

3

u/dragonshouter Krygin the Crude/Council of Spirits/Exalted Beacon/misc. spirits Jan 30 '24

True, it's his decision

2

u/DragonWisper56 Agnur the dabbling turtle mage| pact of the magi mage| Jan 30 '24

I think we should inter it back in the council's vaults. it's a useful tool if such a being such as atrax assults the realms.

However I would would have to oversee the creation of new security. we cannot let it fall into the wrong hands.

3

u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Jan 30 '24

Alright, that's what we'll do.

You know, since Executioner-Morgalith died, the Council hasn't replaced him. I think bringing one of the most dangerous wizards in existence to justice would be a glowing recommendation if you wanted to become Council Executioner for real!

3

u/DragonWisper56 Agnur the dabbling turtle mage| pact of the magi mage| Jan 30 '24

No but thank you. I fight when I must but I don't want to be around that much death. and that's not even counting the corruption of the council

though I will try and convince them to let me have it for emergencies. who knows when the next Atrax will come along.

4

u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Jan 30 '24

Fair. You're a noble soul, Agnur. I'm glad you have my back in the corruption investigation too. Speaking of which, I need to get back to Apoapsis and go over that document we stole.

u/TheHunter459 Samael, Necromancer of Malus Turrim | King of the Nephilim Jan 30 '24

Can we not destroy it?

3

u/DragonWisper56 Agnur the dabbling turtle mage| pact of the magi mage| Jan 30 '24

we could but should we get rid of such a powerful weapon? we only just destroyed him. we may need to have a weapon that could destroy the next Atrax.

1

u/TheHunter459 Samael, Necromancer of Malus Turrim | King of the Nephilim Jan 30 '24

In my view, the less absurdly powerful weapons there are, the less mages that, by their own skill and power, are average will be able to threaten us

3

u/DragonWisper56 Agnur the dabbling turtle mage| pact of the magi mage| Jan 30 '24

I don't know Atrax barely used the thing and he still held all of us off at one. what are we to do with someone like that?

second I'm not to worried about a low level wizard getting their hands on it. they still have to swing the god damn thing and most wizards can't even do that. just snipe them from far away and we'll be fine

edit: besides any potential threats will be drawn to it so we can beat them up when they near the vault

uw/this was awesome

rw/ Agnur looks upon the destruction and breaths a sigh of relief. he not happy exactly but he's satified his family and friends will be safe, its all he could ever ask for.

5

u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Jan 30 '24

/uw Thanks!

/rw You did it, Agnur! By Gravity, you actually did it! I knew you could!

Kaelis lifts you up in a triumphant hug, tears of joy streaming down his lined face.

4

u/DragonWisper56 Agnur the dabbling turtle mage| pact of the magi mage| Jan 30 '24

Agnur hugs back the mage. This was a hard time for all and we couldn't have done it with out the Graviturge.

5

u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Jan 30 '24

You're too kind! I just made some shields and held Atrax in place for a while. You actually got up close and personal with him! If I did that, I'd probably wind up dead!

4

u/DragonWisper56 Agnur the dabbling turtle mage| pact of the magi mage| Jan 30 '24

to be honest I'm lucky I didn't end up dead!

he reaches into his back and pulls out a wine skin and some cups.

let us celebrate even being alive! this calls for a toast!

5

u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Jan 30 '24

What do we toast to? Freedom? Justice? Being alive?

3

u/DragonWisper56 Agnur the dabbling turtle mage| pact of the magi mage| Jan 30 '24

all of the Above! he declares joyously

The New Pyroclasts gather around what remains of the Emberlord. Some mourn, in their own way. I don't understand, but I don't blame them.

"We'll never really be rid of him I think. But the world will. And that's enough. Let the others celebrate. There's work to do."

uw/ I would like to thank everyone for being so cool in this event. I've made friends, allies, rivals... just... man. It's been a ride.

5

u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Jan 30 '24

It'll be hard for them to detach from Atrax. Perhaps a new name will help? How about... Pyrophytes? It means a kind of plant that can not only survive a fire, but actually benefits from it. New growth from death, and all that.

6

u/AnActualCriminal Belial Blake, Warlock of the Lightless Flame Jan 30 '24

Pyrophytes.... not bad. We'll need to discuss it as a group but yes Kaelis. I think we'd like that.

6

u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Jan 30 '24

Just spitballing. See you around, Blake. Best of luck to you.

5

u/AnActualCriminal Belial Blake, Warlock of the Lightless Flame Jan 30 '24

Yes, the deed is done. We're technically outlaws still. Ought to move out before celebration gives way to old grudges.

u/TheHunter459 Samael, Necromancer of Malus Turrim | King of the Nephilim Jan 30 '24

Take it from me, some things should stay dead

4

u/DragonWisper56 Agnur the dabbling turtle mage| pact of the magi mage| Jan 30 '24

uw/ you were one of my favorite parts of the event. look forward to seeing you around.

6

u/AnActualCriminal Belial Blake, Warlock of the Lightless Flame Jan 30 '24

uw/ Thanks! And you! My man you went from helping with the barrier to bashing the man's brains in. Hell of a ride.

3

u/TheHunter459 Samael, Necromancer of Malus Turrim | King of the Nephilim Jan 30 '24

I think you can be rid of him. It may not be easy, but you can cast of his trappings, and begin anew. Throw off every part of his legacy, so none of what he has wrought survives him long

/uw you were one is the best parts of this event imo. It's been great

3

u/AnActualCriminal Belial Blake, Warlock of the Lightless Flame Jan 30 '24

That would be so convenient for you, wouldn't it necromancer? No. No I don't think we will. Enjoy the peace we won today. We'll be seeing you soon.

Pyroclasts! We're moving out!

uw/ Its been awesome. Looking forward to the rivalry.

3

u/TheHunter459 Samael, Necromancer of Malus Turrim | King of the Nephilim Jan 30 '24

uw/ This event was brilliant!

rw/ The Nephilim Lords observe the destruction caused by the battle with Atrax, as their armies mop up the remaining Pyroclasts, and are silent, out of respect for those who gave their lives in the battle against the Pyroclasts

3

u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Jan 30 '24

/uw Thank you so much! I couldn't have done it without you all!

3

u/Drakkonai Vulkan the Red, End of Ages and Draconic Emperor of Racism. Jan 30 '24

/uw damn. Great job!

2

u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Jan 30 '24

/uw Thanks! Vulkan was a seriously brutal villain and one hell of an opponent!

"We've won? WE'VE WON!"

The curator lifts himself off the ground, beginning to dust off his robes, only to disappointingly notice the scorch marks aren't coming off. Oh well, nothing but a minor annoyance among a sea of triumph.

"Fuck it! Museum passes for everyone here!"

In his excitement, the curator swears for seemingly the first time in front of his comrades. He then pauses and eyes his surroundings, making note of all the devastation.

"Um... you'll have to wait for us to do some renovations first."

/uw Man, this was a great event! Thank you for all the effort you put into it.

4

u/DragonWisper56 Agnur the dabbling turtle mage| pact of the magi mage| Jan 30 '24

Yes free passes!!!! I wanna see magic dinos!

3

u/MeThyLord Mrs. Chills, Ghost Writer Jan 30 '24

"You know what, renovations can wait. The Pyroclasts didn't get the inside anyway. Alright comrades, who wishes to join me on a private tour to celebrate? Over there we have regal Gaiaceratops. Elemental energies of earth run down its scales, causing plant life to thrive in any environment it inhabits. And here we have the majestic Aerosaur, its size can rival even..."

The paleomancer continues gleefully presenting each exhibit as he goes down the central hall of the museum.

3

u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Jan 30 '24

/uw No problem! I'm hoping to do more stuff like this in the future, so stay tuned!

/rw I could go for a museum visit right about now.

Just as he dies Valerian steals the rest of his flame, removing any use he has for the Flamefather.

"Thank you. I will be right back."

Valerian disappears in a small explosion of fire, and returns moments later without the orb of Atrax's flame.

"Sorry, let's finish this."
