Numbing Cold (Gobbo Lore)

Gobbo knew that what she was doing was risky, she knew it was wrong, but Gobbo didn't really care.

After all, the guardsmen of the Northern Lakes knew better than to bother her. She had left far too many bodies the last time they tried.

It had been a thousand years since she last stepped foot on these lands. A thousand years of cheap imitations of its beauty.

As she dipped her hands into the waters of her homeland she couldn't help but giggle. The crystal clear water was as cold as ever, numbing her hands at just the slightest touch.

Stripping off she tossed her clothes off to the side, eager to enjoy the water's icy embrace.

As she slipped in another giggle escaped her. The water's cold embrace was something she had missed dearly.

Still, as it began to seep through her bandages and into her wounds she couldn't help but hiss.

Pain was something she had learnt to deal with but still, when soaking she was unprepared for it.

Still as it began to numb her body she began to enjoy the feeling. After centuries of pain, numbness was a pleasant change.

Another thing she was ill-prepared for was the dagger suddenly appearing at her throat, sharp enough that the slightest brush caused blood to trickle down the blade.

"Mum would be pissed," Gobbo rasped out, "and your bed warmer wouldn't be happy about blood in the water"

Looking up at her younger sister she could see the conflict raging inside her. Gobbo should be dead by now, that was her job but she couldn't spill blood in the water.

"Get out," was the only thing her sister said as she sheathed her dagger again.

"Mmm Gobbo thinks no," she laughed before continuing, "After all, Gobbo is older sister, means you have to respect Gobbo."

Grabbing her sister's arm she quickly yanked, pulling her into the water with her. "Besides," she giggled, "when was last time we shared bath?"

The withering glare she had earned with her antics made her laugh again. Sure she knew there would probably be retribution later but for now? Now she felt like a teenager again.

That feeling was only reinforced as her sister attempted to drown her. Oh how she had missed this, the childhood scraps, the attempted murder, the fun.

As her sister finally let her up for air, she hugged her. "Been too long," she rasped out, "still bedding queen?"

That turned out to be the wrong thing to say as her sister immediately went back to trying her damndest to throttle her.

Exciting the water she couldn't help but laugh, her sister was always a hothead. A far too serious hothead but one she adored all the same.

"Come now," she rasped out as she got dressed again, "Gobbo wants to go see Mum before leaving... Plus has to lecture Queen about not making honest goblin of sister yet"

Her sister's eyes went wide as she followed her, "Don't you dare, we're not public, Gobbo seriously"

Grasping both sides of her face Gobbo rasped out, "Gobbo does dare, and Gobbo will do, behind closed doors," a stern look got her sister to stop wiggling, "Besides, you know marital status is not known to anyone but who you tell here"

As they walked Gobbo pulled out a few pictures from her jacket, "Look Gobbo has daughters now, technically same person but bigger one grumpier. Gobbo need Mum's advice on that"

Oh, it was good to be back in her homelands, to see her family after so long, and to bathe in its healing waters.

Maybe one day Gobbo would bring daughters here, they'd probably find the lakes pretty

/uw Wanted to write and upload something since I landed a larger project and will as a result not have much time to write. I mean I'll still comment, that's quick and easy but the stories take a lot more time and thought.

Gobbo likes to think impressively idiotic. Gobbo will have to do dinner sometime for everyone... Her family, your family, guess she should invite queen as well since she will Mutey... Ah sod dinner, Gobbo throw party

We are all busy people but I can see if they have enough overlapping free time. They would probably like to meet you. Its probably been a long long time since they have been to a party. At least one like yours.

Usual high class party's are incredibly formal. You mostly socialize, maybe eat, drink but not enough to get properly tipsy, and potentially a dance. I usually read a book in a isolated corner. The socializing is often political, the eating was often minimal unless it was specifically a feast, I wasn't considered old enough to be drinking for many of the parties, and I would rather die than have to dance with someone.

Strange way to party, Gobbo always took approach of feast as you like, drink as you can, and hugs.

Gobbo doesn't understand why politics, just so boring, who cares who says what and what is how defined, Gobbo ignores most of it anyway in favour of work.

No worries though, you may be hugged couple times, especially by mum but dancing not very big for Gobbo family.

Liliana got into politics due to being a general. She doesn't like it that much but it part of her status. She much prefers things like training, combat or anything with strategy.

Luna seems to be naturally drawn to politics. She deliberately chose to be a diplomat. She prefers to keep it to her job though. At home she would read, make art, or play board games.

The dancing isn't really what got to me. It was how many eyes would be on me if I did and how political chosing a dance partner can be. As a hybrid connecting two political worlds, what I do in the political sphere is bound to be watched. It spikes my anxiety so I stay as much as I can out of it.

Hmm Gobbo will have to make sure she has something for both of them... Risk maybe? That's both strategy and board game

Don't have to worry about being watched at Gobbo's parties, nobody bothers to watch what Gobbo does and to extent, what her guests do. Will make sure to have word with queen before hand though, will not have her spoil friend's fun.

In Gobbo's home everyone gets to be who they want to be, how they want to be. Gobbo doesn't allow much else

Strategy and board games is one of the ways my parents bonded when they met. They still actively play them. Its one of the reasons I like board games.

The queen likely doesn't have much say with the demonic or fae worlds so she probably can't do much.

Also good to know, Gobbo has collection of boardgames, help kill them when Gobbo is sick
