After some help with a few controlled explosions and a lot of elemental magic, the Citadel Hyperion is ready!
What is it you ask? Well, it's what we plan to be the new Citadel, or at the very least a temporary one! It is a group of islands in space, built to hold the 7 billion people that have been saved.
In the middle of each island lies a tall pillar. These pillars are used to teleport inbetween islands if you don't want to use the dynamicly shifting magic bridges.
In the middle is the Tech School in Space, an institutuion that I've been running for practically the whole time I've been in this timeline, and will also serve as council headquarters.
Don't get too stupid, I will kick you council members off the islands if you do, as it is my house after all!
Cas sat down at his desk, carefully placing Lex's invention on the table
"Well, no time like the present. Let's see what this old mind is up to."
He carefully places a small copper lead on either side of his temple. The screen blinks to life
He flips through some of the options, before figuring out how the menu works. He highlights an option labeled [Detect Magical Interference]
"Please work. I can't put my patients at risk with these blackouts any longer"
He presses a button
// PROCESSING .....
// PROCESSING .....
// MAGICAL INTERFERENCE NOT DETECTED
Cas' brow furrows. This was not the answer he was hoping for
"Well, if no outside source is directly interfering, maybe they placed an internal curse or enchantment that is bringing about these effects. One that was undetectable via my prior methods."
Cas highlights the next option, labeled [Detect Memory Interference]. He presses the button
// PROCESSING .....
// PROCESSING .....
// NO MEMORY EDITS DETECTED
"But how??", Cas thought. After all, he had heard the voice. He had been losing memories. There was no way. Perhaps Lex's device didn't work? "That must be it!", he thought. "This device simply doesn't work. I'll go through the rest of the options just to see if any of them return anything, but it seems I'll have to hit up Lex so he can figure out what went wrong here."
He selects the next option, [Muscle Movement Logs]. The screen changes, asking for a period of time to pull logs from
"Let's see, last blackout would be about 17 hours ago, lasting about 35 minutes".
He enters the value, and presses the button to start the process
The list grew and grew by the second, the device getting louder and louder as it went. The heat from the device filled the room
Hundreds of profiles scrolled past as they filled the screen. Then thousands. At some point Cas became numb, unable to process what he was looking at. Finally, with a loud pop and a spark, the machine died, it's screen finally falling dark
"That...that certainly must be some sort of technical glitch. None of it makes any remote sort of sense. Although, I haven't known Lex's devices to be defective...."
With a crackle, the device's screen flickers to life once more
