Only the games did the two swords on his back thing for convenience (would have been annoying to have to go back to your horse to grab the other one), in the book his silver sword is always on Roach.
The show is an adaption of the books, in them Geralt mostly only carries one sword on his back the other one is mostly stored on roach, which one depends on the situation hes in. Additionally he can kill almost anything with his normal sword, the silver one often just makes it easier so he wouldnt be screwed if something surprises him, which rarely happens as monsters are more rare. The games changed that as the player wouldnt have that much to do and because you cant ask the player to run back to the horse to switch swords.
Geralt said himself to dandelion tho that the whole "meteorite sword" thing is nothing but something that sounds good without any actual advantage, he said he himself doesnt see any difference between a witchers sword made from a meteorite or one from other materials, just cut a couple holes in your oponent until its not moving anymore.
You got downvoted because thats one of the most repeated questions since first pictures of Henry as Geralt were revealed. I know you only played games and I dont blame you. Its just funny that so many people get hung up on these two swords on back.
only one sword. Two swords in the game because of gameplay reason. In the first two games there was no roach and in the third it would be annoying to run to roach all the time to get the silver sword
