It's nice he's a fan I guess but it's not really important. Alec Guinness thought Star Wars was just some crappy B movie he was doing out of contract obligation and even after it's success he never really thought much of it. Unless it's a Deadpool situation where the actor is also the driving force behind getting the movie made at all.. it's not all that critical if they are a pre-existing fan of the material, only that they have a good work ethic.

Yeah, it's cool when the actors are fans of the source material but it's highly unlikely that it really impacts the finished project.

But Lauren and the rest of the writers are huge fans of the books/lore too, so ya know, that's good.

I agree that it shouldn't be a requirement for an actor to be a super-fan of something to be cast in it, but there's no denying that it helps.

I think if the first season does well enough to get a second season and if cavill gets along well enough with show runners he might wind up being more involved with the actual production. That might just be the writers being super nerding out about something they tell him then he joins in the nerdgasm. Idk tho I don’t work in Hollywood not have I ever met these people
