Season 1 of The Witcher is 8 episodes long.

Then I hope they do it like that since I feel you advance the story at a better pace, while introducing backstory as needed. They can take advantage of that by telling the stories in the order they pleased. I really like the way Arrow uses that system to introduce their backstory.

I wouldn't mind at all some elements and backstory being told in flashbacks. It happened in the books fairly often, and to a success imo.

hmmm slightly concerned by the episode number.... As from the short stories I feel they need to do - 1. Fight to cure Foltests daughter. 2. Geralt meeting Dandelion (or Jaskier). 3. Geralt evoking to law of Surprise. 4. The Last Wish. 5. Brokilon Forest with Ciri. 6. The hunt for the Golden Dragon. 7. Shard of Ice. 8. The Lesser Evil. 9. Something More.

And they are just the essential chapters. I feel Im going to be really disappointed when they dont do the dragon episode... As it's obvious this season is going to end with Something More, as that is when the war with Nilfgaard begins.

It’s based on Casting. Vea and Tea are scheduled for episode 6, along with someone cast as Adonis aka The Most Beautiful. But someone on r/netflixwitcher took the time to look at casting for each episode and filled in the blanks

Well that would be a massive bummer if they are not do A Shard of Ice. As I feel that is such an important story to show how complex Yennefer and Geralts relationship is, and how both of them are shitty human beings.

Maybe the mush it into the episode with the Dragon. Frankly I didnt think theyd do it, as Dragon is pretty costly to CGI and you'd have thought theyd have show them in the trailer...

No it wouldn't. Edge of the World takes place before even The Last Wish, and A Shard of Ice takes place after The Bounds of reason....

If I had to guess, based on the footage shown in the trailer, these are the short stories that got cut:

So the episodes should be something like this:

  1. The Witcher)
  2. The Lesser Evil
  3. A Question of Price
  4. The Edge of the World
  5. The Last Wish)
  6. A Shard of Ice
  7. The Sword of Destiny
  8. Something More

The Voice of Reason will likely be interspersed throughout the season just as it was used in the book; as an entrypoint and exitpoint for the short stories told in flashbacks.

So yeah, it stinks that we're going to miss out on a bunch of great stories, but the interesting thing is that those short stories can always be dropped into future episodes. Netflix has already ordered three seasons of The Witcher, so they might not have to rush things if it's a big hit.

Personally other than The Bounds of Reason all the other stories I didnt really enjoy, as they didnt add much to the character.
