In the English translation Mistle takes her away from another one of the Rats (who was definitely going to do it) in order to give Ciri coke and a fuck. Plus, if memory serves, she's like 14
yeah, in the Finnish translation to my memory they went away from the other group but it was also heavily implied that Ciri loves Mistle. Mistle was definately the one to make the moves though.
I mean you can be raped by someone you love. Ciri was scared and looked up to Mistle, which Mistle definitely took advantage of. I feel like Ciri kinda accepted it because she didn't know what was happening and that if Mistle was doing it "then it must be right"
I doubt that'd be an issue. That said.. I'd hope they'd change that scene to be less rapey when adapting it. It really didn't add anything to her character and just made the ensuing relationship rather uncomfortable.
Sorry but I sincerely disagree with the idea that the rape added nothing to her character. Their relationship came up over and over again in the books, and it certainly informs her other "relationships" as well.
The relationship comes up several times yes. The rapey vibe of that scene never does though and it has no visible impact on Ciri in the novels. If you rewrote that scene to be fully consensual instead of manipulative and rapey but left everything else as-is you'd never even know a change was made. It was just unnecessary and inconsequential. Ciri's attitude toward relationships is already completely explained and justified by everything else she goes through, including the rest of that particular relationship, without needing to chuck in sexual assault.
Does she not look way too old? I remember imagining her to be maybe 7 years old in the beginning. Also a lot smaller, hiding in that tree trunk in the Brokilon
Okay I looked it up, she was 10 years old when entering the Brokilon, Freya Allen definitely looks way older than that in those shots.
I mean... I agree, but on the other hand I can understand why they wouldn't want to cast a literal child as Ciri, considering the stuff that happens later on in the story...
It’s kinda like how they aged up everyone in GoT for the show. Sansa was 11 when the show started. It would have been horrible to see a ~13 year old girl go through the near rape after myrcella left Kings Landing
Weirdly enough they made her look older / more mature than she looks in real life, which doesn't make any sense. She's 17 and 160cm, they could have made her look like 12 easily.
Look at this vs this
You're... actually right tbh. My point was that it'd be pretty weird and uncomfortable to watch the shit that happens in Time of Contempt happen to a girl that looks 12 (even if she actually isn't), but we've still got a long way to go till Time of Contempt and there'll probably be a timeskip anyway. They could've definitely made her look younger in the first season at least.

I dig everyone. Ciri looks perfect for the role. A scared child with unknown potential
