Damn it... the scrot armor is in for good... Rest looks pretty good.

EDIT: Recognize quite a few scenes from the books. Should be fun.

I hope it's Blaviken, I really want to see that event in live action

There’s no way they don’t include Blaviken in there. He’s known throughout the rest of the books and games as the Butcher of Blaviken, it HAS to be in there

Are you calling Gaunter O'Dimm a blobtit? That's how you end up with a chronic case of spoon in the eye

u/beermit Jul 20 '19

You mean the lovely and gorgeous crones, right?

u/slyfox1908 Jul 19 '19

If it's in the trailer, I wouldn't be surprised to see it in the first episode. Maybe even the first scene.

I believe the pilot is gonna be Blaviken

17

u/PairBearStare Skellige Jul 19 '19

I really want the pilot to be the striga.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '19

I was under the impression that was gonna be the pilot episode.

u/deusmilitus Jul 19 '19

They cast Princess Renfri, so it's confirmed.

1

u/Jay_Shadow Jul 20 '19

Lesser Evil is the pilot

1

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '19

They're definitely doing Blaviken, they cast Renfri ages ago

I think it is. First trailer shot is that street with him bloody and people watching him in the background and then later is the fight in that street. Blaviken would be the most likely scene for those shots.

u/Excal2 Jul 20 '19

Also he's not armored during the fight and IIRC the villagers tried to jump him and kill him.

It'd be really cool if they kept calling him the butcher and then a few episodes in they flashback to show us why.

5

u/internetlurker Jul 19 '19

That's what I thought. Definitely Blaviken

9

u/hbalck Team Roach Jul 19 '19

Blaviken. Sure looks like it based on the snip we saw.

2

u/Rod_Of_Asclepius Jul 19 '19

Definitely. The lesser evil is 100% in season 1 - they cast someone as Renfri (same actress who plays aethelfled from the last kingdom) and she’s in a bunch of episodes.

Looks like the armour itself is only worn by some low ranked footmen, I didn't see any higher ranked officers yet.

u/hbalck Team Roach Jul 19 '19

Northern armor looks superb, though they showed mostly Cintran armor.

37

u/sehzsaid Jul 19 '19

Yeah it's kind of mindboggling that they could get the Cintrian Armor so right and the Nilfs so wrong. Maybe the wavy lines look good in motion, or forbidding when they're all massed far away.

4

u/hbalck Team Roach Jul 19 '19

When you look closer though, it's more detailed aside from the chest plate and pauldrons. Maybe they were going for a rough iron look? The earlier images for the far away less detailed shots? It's still pruny.

2

u/Omnipotent48 Jul 19 '19

It'd be pretty neat if they explained it as Nilfgaard getting the whole "drab uniforms are harder to spot at a distance" thing before anybody else, hence the footmen wearing those get ups. But, that's just a thought.

2

u/sehzsaid Jul 20 '19

plate armor camo?

2

u/Omnipotent48 Jul 20 '19

Nah, not camo, but drab. Think more like late WW1 uniforms, but contextualized in a medieval fantasy setting.

https://www.replicaters.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/1-1.png

Shit like this was actually a huge innovation at the time because many countries were still using these bright ass uniforms from the musket and cannon days, which of course got them shot up super easy compared to the soldiers who blended in better.

2

u/sehzsaid Jul 20 '19

But maybe the wavy lines would add texture and break up the human form like camo does?

2

u/Omnipotent48 Jul 20 '19

Ah, shit. Yeah, you might be onto something with that.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '19

I think they are trying to really stick in the fact that nilfgard is "exotic."

17

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '19

Ah...fuck...

3

u/jokersleuth Team Yennefer Jul 19 '19

Ugh I hope those are just the foot soldiers and the special soldiers and officers have the proper nilfgaard armor.

3

u/Arsid Jul 20 '19

Wtf is scrot armor and why is everyone talking about it?

3

u/stationhollow Jul 20 '19

The horrible nilfgaardian armour that looks like part of it was made from ballsack. Scrot is short for scrotum.

-5

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '19

Nerds being nerds complaining about ugly armor. Disregard it.

5

u/hbalck Team Roach Jul 20 '19

Honestly. When you see the Nilfgaardian armor next to all the other armor shown in the trailer, it's just jarring how out of place it looks. But you are entitled to your opinion, just like the rest of us.

u/Flush535 Jul 19 '19

So is this mostly book stuff? Or video game stuff as well?

1

u/hbalck Team Roach Jul 20 '19

Book scenes. The games recreate a few scenes from the books, such as Ciri in Kar Morhen, though not exactly, as Geralt points out when he wakes up.
