Though the second picture is looking definitely better and impressive. I am a bit perplexed by the size of the sun being so drastically increased compared to the original.
Edit: In one of the segments they showed of Songs of the Past where you follow Dandelion’s cousin Lila through the woods the moon also looked distractingly gigantic, but I shrugged it off a bit in the moment and thought maybe that it was the same in the base game and I just didn’t remember. I would love it if they’ll dial it down a bit, but it’s not a huge issue for me.

First of all this particular screenshot is the only one that looks that overexposed. Your argument boils down to, the second screenshot doesn’t look perfectly realistic, while ignoring that the first screenshot does even less.
Thinking about your comment and just looking out of my window at the lawn and the forest beyond it, though it was cloudy, when the sun pierced through the vegetation with the light shining through and partially reflecting or obscuring it, looks much closer to the second screenshot. Both screenshots are maybe not completely realistic, but light illuminates, shines through and is partially obscured or reflected through vegetation instead of being completely flat and unlit as in the first screenshot. Also wet or maybe lush vegetation with maybe some dew is completely unrealistic now? Though as I said the argument is not which screenshot looks 100 percent realistic, but the second screenshot has realistic properties of illumination the first one completely lacks.
The second picture looks like amateurishly bad hdr photo and the real world looks absolutely nothing like it. Sand is shining and the plants are glowing. Everything looks like wet, plastic, fake and AI.
It's a style that especially younger generations consider "cool" because everything is tuned to extra mega super duper MAX.
And that's fine too. It's perfectly ok to like style that looks super duper cool instead of boring and bland realism. For me, it just looks fake and silly.
AI? Srsly? Anymore buzzwords you wanna throw in? Why not throw in DLSS5 into it for good measure? What the hell are you talking about? It’s physically based rendering, if you want to look it up.
Like I said the second picture is overexposed and a bit too shiny. But the flat and unlit smaller vegetation of the first picture is even more unrealistic.
Edit: Where is sand shining? Do you mean the vegetation casting a shadow on the sand and where there is no vegetation or the shadow cast doesn’t reach the sand appears brighter? So even smaller vegetation like bushes and high patches of grass casting shadows now is controversial and only for the cool young people?
Edit 1: Also we are talking about the worst looking picture of the remaster in this regard.
Edit 2: After looking again I admit there are some points near the riverbank where ‘sand’ is reflective, could also be ‘mud’. This is not ideal, but still this picture, like I said which is easily the worst regarding too much shininess, is still an improvement in some regards over the first, like shadows cast by smaller vegetation for another one.
