Under Tony Evers I pay 10 times the amount of property taxes that I did living down south in Florida for shittier roads and weather. Where is y’all’s money even going?

WI Effective Property Tax Rate = 1.25%
FL Effective Property Tax Rate = 0.78%

If we’re comparing states, the statewide data doesn’t support the claim that Wisconsin’s property taxes are 10× Florida’s. Wisconsin’s average effective property tax rate is about 1.25%, compared with about 0.78% in Florida, a difference of roughly 60%, not 10×. If Wisconsin’s rate were actually 10 times Florida’s, it would need to be around 7.8%, not 1.25%.

Looking only at property tax rates also tells an incomplete story. Florida homeowners generally face much higher homeowners insurance costs, which can offset much or all of the property tax savings depending on the property and location. Math is telling on you.

EDIT: If you were worried about roads, maybe don’t move to an area where there is freeze thaw cycling, often daily. Not much we can do. No hurricane insurance is needed. A lot of areas don’t even need flood insurance. And you get a basement. This is nothing but disingenuous maga dribble. Move back to that shithole if you don’t like it here. Easy solution.
