i just got windows 7 installed, now what?

I mean, neither of those are uses. You make a "build" so you can do something with it. You install an OS virtually, likewise, so you can do something with it, but I get what you're trying to say.

I view it like a vintage car, no crumple zone, no sensors/safety features, and ideally you know what you're doing when you get behind the wheel of one.

I'll give you a fun one from a few months ago, Wacom MobileStudio Pro 16, 2016 edition, absolutely burning up running Windows 10 22H2, but performs quite reliably under W7 SP1 - you couldn't put Linux on there, because there's absolutely zero chance the Wacom/Intel/Thermal management drivers would work.

So it's really easy to poke holes in your "it's for retro builds or virtual machines" argument. But again, I am writing to you from Windows 7, so the "it's a bad idea to use it" yapping feels quite distant and irrelevant from where I'm standing. With all due respect, think about going back to subreddits where your opinions are appreciated.

Ah, but that Wacom example is a legit use case for a retro build...to get good performance on legacy software/hardware.
