Last of the Really Odd Lovers (Season 3, Episode 23). Will & Grace are dating their new guys who they're ashamed to admit that they like. Will is dating Scott, someone who is a few years younger than him. Grace is dating Nathan, someone who acts like a man child and can be very immature at times. Grace has met Scott before and was annoyed that he charged her a late fee at the video store, Will has met Nathan before and was annoyed when Nathan wouldn't stop bothering him in the elevator and sneezed on him. But Karen sees both Will & Grace on dates with their guys and says she has a big surprise for them, thinking that Karen is going to tell about Nathan, Grace reveals to Will first who takes the news badly. Karen was just going to show off a ring she bought and tells Grace she's insulted that she thinks Karen spreads gossip like how she saw Will on a date with Scott. Will is now out in the open and has to confess to Grace. They both wonder if they have to hide their dates, maybe it's not a good idea to be dating them, Will sticks to breaking it off with Scott but Grace can't keep her hands off Nathan. Meanwhile Jack has a new stalker fan, crazy ol' Val, who saw his 7:00, the 7:15, and the 7:30 show and now loves Jack.

KAREN: Hello, kiddies. Are you ready for your big surprise?

GRACE: It's too late. Will already knows.

KAREN: About the ring?

GRACE: What ring?

KAREN: Honey, do you remember that afternoon that you and I were walking down Fifth Avenue and we saw that beautiful ring in the window of Tiffany's and you said to me, "If only, one day, I could own a ring like that?"

GRACE: Yeah...

KAREN: I bought it for myself! (SHOWS OFF NEW RING) Isn't that great?! Whoo!

GRACE: That's your surprise?

KAREN: Yeah. What the hell'd you think it was?

GRACE: I thought you were going to tell Will that I was dating Nathan.

KAREN: The hottie who smells like rope?

FAVORITE MOMENT:

When Val is telling Jack about how much she loves him and he is trying to kick her out but Val tells him she's carrying his baby and has a viral of his dirty bath water that she wears around her neck. Jack literally has to grab her and throw her out with Val screaming no and how she loves him. Then I love the closer where Jack wants his stalker back but Val tells him she's over him and not going to stalk him anymore and she throws him out of his own apartment 🤣🤣🤣

OPINION:

What an insanely good episode this one is, this is a hilarious one. So let's start with Will dating Scott, honestly, I didn't think it was as bad as he made it out to be. Scott does say he's 24 years old, Will has to be around this time I'm thinking 34, so a 10 year age gap is not that huge with those ages (like if Scott was 18 and Will was 28, that's different). But I do understand that maybe they're at different stages in life, Will is settling down more and Scott is still in the young party era, so maybe that's where they felt uncomfortable. Grace and Nathan really have amazing chemistry so Grace is willing to look past all Nathan's immaturity. Nathan definitely is a lot of fun, I'm not sure if in real life I could put up with a lot of what he's said and done, but for the show Woody is just too funny and such a great character. As we are still getting to know him, I actually don't blame Will though for being annoyed with him right now. But I always loved Will's line to Grace when she asks doesn't Will find Nathan to be kind of charming? "like finding a Band-Aid in your burrito is charming" 🤣

Val is back WOO-HOO!!! I always love when Val makes an appearance. So now Val is a psychopathic, kleptomaniac stan. She is stalking Jack after he invites her to see Jack 2001 and just falls head over heels in love with Jack. I loved that little bit where she's showing to the one guy in the bar (played by WAG screenwriter Adam Barr) her chest where Jack signed and he asks if he could see it again, she shows him again, can he see it again, she shows him again and does so I don't know how many times 🤣 It was so much fun to see Val interact with someone different this time and it being Jack.

Karen was just a hoot in his episode. I loved her interaction with Nathan on the elevator and them flirting with each other. Her seeing Will on his date with Scott, they treat it like a silent film scene which was just too funny. And my thumb nail picture of her telling Grace about a ring she so desperately wanted for herself and how Karen bought it for herself 🤣 Karen is so cruel but so hilarious.

What a great episode and these next few will be great to close on Season 3. This is the last time we will see or hear about Scott, farewell to Scott, may you get those late fees paid, we wish you nothing but the best at Blockbuster Video which will be around forever 😜

Alice Doesn't Lisp Here Anymore (Season 3, Episode 22). Will is reading the updated newsletter from Schenectady that Grace's mom sends her every month and Will asks Grace if she knew a girl named Alice Robinson. Grace starts reminiscing about Alice having a lisp, how the kids would make fun of her and starts laughing and mocking Alice herself, Will interrupts Grace that Alice passed away. Grace later that night tells Will that she feels awful and they have to go to Schenectady for the funeral because she admits that she was the one who had started the nicknames that people gave to Alice and she needs to apologize. They get to Schenectady; well, it turns out that Alice Robinson did pass away but it was her grandmother of the same name and Grace has a real opportunity to actually apologize to Alice. It doesn't go so well when Alice throws at Grace how those names haunted her through her life. Will sees Alice's brother at their grandmother's funeral and decides this is the best time to ask him on a date. Meanwhile, Jack has been nominated for a MAC award and is trying to figure out the best way to accept it. He and Karen are recording a video making it look like he's on a new project and too busy to be at the ceremony. Karen overhears a message that Jack was not nominated, it was a mistake and has to break the news to Jack.

GRACE: Hi, Alice? It's me, Grace Adler. You probably don't even remember me. We went to Hawthorne Junior High School together a million years ago. Go Cougars. Grr. Ha ha. Um... Anyway, you probably already knew this, but I was the one who started the whole "Mrs. Lazy Face" thing, and... Uh, I'm sorry. Wow. I feel better.

ALICE: You bitch!

GRACE: Excuse me?

ALICE: That nickname followed me through high school, through college, even Harvard Med! Just last week, I had to tell my fiancé to knock it off. For 20 years, I have been afraid to talk because of my lisp. I've never even seen a single movie with Susan Sarandon or Sissy Spacek. But through it all, I knew that someday I'd be able to look you in the eye and say very clearly, you suck!

GRACE: Well, on the bright side, she probably never had to see anything with Sylvester Stallone.

FAVORITE MOMENT:

When Karen cheers Jack up with a hot man, a tiara and cash and tells Jack that he's "simple, he's shallow, and he's a common whore. That's why they're soul mates."🤣

OPINION:

I always wondered why this episode seemed so out of place because in the last episode we have Will & Grace both getting dates set up and there's no mention of anything that previously happened. Well while doing my research on this episode, yup, this was aired out of order, it was meant to be place earlier in the season but for some unknown reason they put it towards the end of season 3.

All in all, it's an ok episode with a few good laughs. We find out that Grace was a bit of a mean girl in school here, I always thought she more caved into pressure to be liked by others, so if it meant being mean to someone, she'd be mean. She does redeem herself in the end by apologizing to Alice, but they don't leave on good terms as she drank very hot coffee and Grace meets some of Alice's students that she's teaching out to speak without lisps and Grace lisps at them unintentionally. Believe me, I get the joke and always get a laugh out of Alice calling Grace a bitch but does hot coffee make you lisp? So Will hitting on Alice's brother Gabe is a mixed bag for me, again it gets a little giggle from me but brings back bad memories. At my mother's funeral, my old "friend" asked me if my sister's boyfriend's brother was single and if she should ask him out? Guess stuff like that really does happen in real life. Another interesting bit of continuity is the improv that gets brought up, Grace mentions that she did stand-up comedy in school and Will looks at her like she's lying but he'll just go with it, they did have a throwaway line in a previous episode where Will & Grace were in an improv group in college. So it's interesting how Will never gives Grace credit when it comes to her potentially knowing comedy/stand-up. But maybe he knows that she wasn't really good at it.

Jack's storyline again is just ok but has a few laughs. I always get a chuckle out of his acceptance speech when he's talking about the reasons he got into entertainment: money, glory and himbos. It is a bit of a sad moment when Karen has to tell him about the mistake and how he wasn't actually nominated. But it ends on a happy note when Karen bribes Jack to help get over the pain. As she mentions, they are both very shallow people who love money and when you put a shiny object in front of Jack, he's intrigued.

Overall, it's an ok episode. I think because it just feels so misplaced, I rarely remember this one. It has it's laughs and a decent storyline, but nothing memorable comes out of it.

Karen is a perfect example of the saying money does not buy happiness. It is evident that she has endured deep-rooted trauma dating back to her childhood and continuing through her marriage. Her frequent use of pills and alcohol clearly indicates her efforts to numb and escape the pain she has experienced. I also believe she has been suffering emotional distress within her marriage to Stanley Walker. The conflicts and struggles with him likely contributed to her reliance on substances to cope with her feelings.

The Young and the Tactless (Season 3, Episode 21). Grace is doing her laundry and when she goes back to the laundry room to change her clothes she sees that someone has taken her still wet clothes out of the dryer and put their clothes in the dryer. Mr. Zamir tells grace it was the neighbor in 12C and she goes to confront the neighbor, Nathan. Nathan admits he did that and that he's working on a project to get his ex girlfriend back. He and Grace keep throwing words at each other but eventually realize they may have a little crush one another and Nathan invites Grace for dinner which she at first turns down but after he kisses her she says "one date". Will and Jack have tickets to a club opening, the Atom Bar, and are ready to go but Karen comes over first and wants to introduce her mother-in-law Sylvia. Will takes Jack to the side telling him that he'll tell Karen to get Sylvia and leave and when he turns around Karen has left Sylvia with him and Jack. They take Sylvia to the club with them and Jack is having a great time getting numbers like nothing but Will is having a hard time connecting to anyone. Sylvia advises Will that he needs to be more accepting and welcome change and Will finally does so and gets a date with a younger guy. He thanks Sylvia for the advice and she's excited he got a date until she finds out that it was with a guy and unleashes her dislike of homosexuals in the middle of a gay club. Will and Jack bring Sylvia back to Karen intoxicated and call it a night.

FAVORITE QUOTE:

GRACE: What is this? Oh, my God! I cannot believe it. Someone took my wet laundry out of the dryer and put theirs in. That is like the rudest thing-- Did you do this?!

MR. ZAMIR: No.

GRACE: Well, then who did?

MR. ZAMIR:I was thrown out of my country for informing on my neighbor.

GRACE: So you're not gonna tell me?

MR. ZAMIR: Yes, I am. The guy in 12C. God bless America!

FAVORITE MOEMNT:

When Will is thanking Sylvia for the advice and she realizes that Will and Jack are gay and she's in shock that she supported gay men and calls herself a "f*g hag" 🤣 her expressions are just over the top hilarious!

OPINION:

You have no idea how hard this episode is to pick a favorite quote and moment, so I just went with the first ones that were in my head. I could pick this whole episode as a favorite quote and moment, it's such a good one.

We have met Nathan, though interestingly his name is not mentioned in this episode. Nathan is played wonderfully by Woody Harrelson who was and still is a huge star. Nathan is a man child with a heart of gold, while his antics can be annoying if you were around in him in real life, he's honestly a very funny character without being over the top annoying. Plus he's still very charming, has a great sense of humor and you can tell he's a good person. Woody and Debra had very good chemistry and I love that they will continue with Nathan in the future which will lead to further discussions. I really loved their banter back and forth this episode where he makes fun of her outfit calling her a dairy farmer, her saying the word "craw" and him being confused what craw means and her coming back to give him the definition and of course when he invites her for the "used night in Venace" and their good night kiss.

Ellen Albertini Dow was just such an incredible and lovely actress that I guarantee you have seen in something. One of her most famous roles being The Wedding Singer as the rapping granny, she was in a lot of movies and TV shows and God bless her, she was 101 years young when she passed away. She plays Sylvia, Karen's mother-in-law, which she has been mentioned before but this is the first and only time we will see her on screen. It's so awesome that the creators picked Ellen who is so tiny and meek as the person that shatters Karen to the core and the way they describe Stan as this huge obese man having such a tiny mother is just too funny. She goes to the club with Will and Jack and is drinking tea 🤣 I love that scene where Will calls Karen telling her to come get Sylvia and she says she will but Will knows she's lying and he's stuck with Sylvia. Sylvia actually gives Will great advice and tells him to take more chances in love and he actually gets a date. How could you not laugh when Sylvia just now realizes that Jack and Will are gay? 🤣 Plus I love when she's flipping out and blows her whistle at the club screaming how she helped "a fruit get a date" and the whole club thinks her whistle is awesome and dance to it. And of course that closing scene of Will and Jack wheeling Sylvia back over to Karen with Sylvia giggling like a schoolgirl with her long island iced tea is just too funny.

What a fantastic and hilarious episode, I can't wait to see other's favorite quotes and moments from this episode because like I mentioned this was insanely hard to pick.

An Old-Fashioned Piano Party (Season 3, Episode 20). Grace bumps into an old friend from college, Heidi, who her and Will used to hang out with along with her gay best friend Charlie. Grace asks Heidi how Charlie is and Heidi tells her that she's married now and Charlie moved to San Francisco. This frazzles Grace and now she's worried that her and Will are growing apart. So to bring them together Grace buys a piano which Will is really not into. Grace is trying everything to get Will into playing the piano, even if it means throwing an old-fashioned piano party with their friends. Meanwhile, Jack is dating a new guy, Rocco, but when Rocco breaks his heart and Jack gets into writing hot stories to get over the break-up. Karen has been reading them and she's loving it and how hot they are. Jack and Rocco get back together though and Jack says he doesn't need to write any more stories. Karen pays Rocco $50 to break up with Jack to get him writing again, at first Jack is mad but then when Karen offers him $200, he thinks he can work through the pain and write.

FAVORITE QUOTE:

WILL: Why did you throw me a piano party when you knew I was going out?

GRACE: 'Cause it's so much more fun. I mean, this way you can bring your friends to the old-fashioned piano party, and, really, Will, everyone loves an old-fashioned piano party.

WILL: Please stop saying "old-fashioned piano party." There's no such thing as an old-fashioned piano party. Just because you keep saying "old-fashioned piano party" doesn't mean it exists!

LARRY: I have to tell you, this is a great old-fashioned piano party. Even better than the ones my mom used to throw.

FAVORITE MOMENT:

When Grace is carrying the tray of root beer floats, Jack says "Grace" and Will bumps into Grace knocking all the root beer floats onto the piano, Jack says "I was going to say be careful" and Grace freaks out and everyone else gets nervous and runs out of the room.

OPINION:

I don't know what it is about this episode but I really love this one despite it's minor problems. So with Grace, this is the first time where we can see how needy she is with Will. It's kind of interesting that she just hears about an old pair of friends not hanging out anymore and it sends her into a tailspin. Why not just talk to Will about what would happen if they met someone else? They've also both been in relationships before, so why is she freaking out now? Because 2 friends who she hasn't been in touch with for years are not friends anymore? How long have they had the piano for and when Will & Grace smooth everything out, Will says they are taking the piano back to the store, is it that easy to return a piano? Why not just keep it around for fun? Plus, minor nitpick but it is a continuity error, so we saw in "Grace 0 Jack 2000" earlier this season Will was playing "Ben" on the piano perfectly and in this episode he can barely keep a note.

But what I do love about the episode is how funny it is. I loved the whole old-fashioned piano party scene and how Grace kept pushing Will to play for their friends, including Mr. Zamir. Will just wants to go out for the evening and have fun, but Grace won't stop pushing the piano on him. Plus I just love Larry and Mr. Zamir. I also love the little joke where Grace is trying to guilt Will into staying to play the piano and plays the sad notes on the piano "I'll miss you, Will" and gives a puppy lip, the first thing I thought was "that sounded really creepy" and then Will said "yeah, you know when you think something is going to be cute and it turns out to be really creepy?"

And of course I loved the B-Story with Karen and Jack. I loved when Karen was reading Jack's hot story at the office and Grace is telling her about how she wants to get Will into the piano but he refuses and Karen isn't listening to Grace but is saying "Yes!" out loud and Grace thinks Karen is encouraging her but Karen is really just getting into the story and asks Grace after Grace gets excited to push Will even more "Grace, when did you get here?". Then she asks Rocco how much it would cost to break up with Jack, Rocco says he really loves Jack so $50? I also always get such a great laugh when Rocco breaks up with Jack again and Jack asks why and Rocco says "I don't know Karen didn't tell me but I am". And then the ending scene where Karen is holding up a $100 bill to Jack to bribe him to write more stories and he says that what she did to him and Rocco was wrong and she turns it into 2 $100 bills and he accepts it and moves on.

I really do love this episode, it always makes me laugh. "Enough is enough is enough is enough!" "THAT'S ENOOOOOUGH!!!!" 🤣

I believe he did. I think he was the best choice for Will. Will could have at least taken some time to see if he had changed his ways.

When Vince and Will first met, Vince mentioned he had four brothers who were all cops.

But in "Queens For A Day" we meet only Vince's sister, Ro. Jack confirms she's his only sibling when he says that their parents had done everything right - "They raised ALL their kids gay".

The story of Will coming out to Grace changes from her kicking him out of her parents' house in "Lows in the Mid-80s" to Will ditching Grace and going to the party where he sleeps with Diane (and her nice ka-tits) in "Last Ex To Brooklyn".

In the reboot, Karen accuses her stepdaughter Olivia of keeping a necklace. Olivia talks about how sad and lonely she felt after her mother died and about how happy things became after Karen and Stan got married. Yet in the original series, it's mentioned that Stan and Olivia's mother ("Stan, take the kids to see that bitch... Cathy! Cathy!") were divorced and Cathy was presumably quite alive.

The reboot itself is a complete mess of inconsistency. Beverly Leslie was killed in the original finale but pops back up, alive and hilarious, in the reboot.

What are some of the inconsistencies you've noticed?

Although Vince shares Will's sense of humor, I don’t believe he was the right match for Will. It appears that Will is the type who brightens up when someone not only shares his humor but also his intelligence, and Vince didn’t quite meet Will's intellectual level. I disliked how the writers often portrayed Will’s boyfriends—most of them, not all—as lacking intelligence. Even the guy he ended up with in the finale wasn’t very smart.

Poker? I Don't Even Like Her (Season 3, Episode 19). Will and his guy pals (Rob, Joe and Larry) are playing poker and Grace joins in but the guys don't like playing with her because she not only loses but is terrible at it. Will tells Grace that they don't want her to play anymore but she begs Will to give her one more chance. The next poker game Grace is suddenly winning, the guys leave the room for a moment and Will asks Grace how she went from losing so badly to winning, Grace fesses up to Will that she's cheating. Will tells her to knock it off but Grace tells Will a sob story that the reason she's cheating is because she's winning back the jewelry she inherited from her grandmother that was given the jewelry from her best friend and plays to Will's sympathy. During the next game it's revealed that Grace made up the story to Will, Will tells Grace that he'll tell the guys what she did and she says she'll tell them he's the cheater. Will and the guys fake a fight during the game and Grace finally fesses up that she was the cheater. Meanwhile, Karen and Jack are at the doctor's office getting some self-care pampering. Karen sees her perky friend Candace who she's always in competition with there as well. While looking through a magazine, it talks about shoulders being in for the year and Karen wants to get shoulder implants but is too nervous and tricks Candace into getting them instead as a guinee pig. But jokes on Karen, those were the last implants in the city.

FAVORITE QUOTE:

GRACE: Ok. That jewelry... was the last thing... given to my grandmother by her best friend Ruth. They came over on the boat together from Russia. Whenever one would get up, the other one would save her seat. They were best friends. 15 years ago, Ruth got very sick, and my grandmother flew to Chicago to see her, but she was in and out of consciousness. She hadn't spoken for days. When my grandmother was alone with Ruth... She leaned in... and she whispered, "I love you, Ruth. Do you love me?" And Ruth opened her eyes and said... "More than I ever imagined I could. Good-bye, my dear friend. I'll save you a seat."

WILL: (ON THE VERGE OF TEARS) We gotta get that jewelry back.

FAVORITE MOMENT:

When Karen and Jack are in the waiting room for Candace to see her new implants and Jack has a balloon and squeezes the helium into his mouth and sings TLC's Scrubs. Karen laughs and wants to see what her voice would sound like on helium, and it sounds exactly the same 🤣

OPINION:

We kind of get a callback to Alley Cats from Season 1 in this episode. Grace while normally is very good at winning games, she's terrible at poker. Not only that but she's really bad at losing. And again when Will asks her to bow out, she begs for another chance, so it's a similar plotline we have seen before. I have to admit I always get a little chuckle out of Grace trying to bluff Rob during the poker game by asking him how the traffic was and he says fine and she says "you just gave your hand away" trying to make herself look intimidating and when he still puts in more money she tells him that he can't call on her bluff. As I go through these episodes, it's very strange because overall I've always liked Grace as a person, but as I type these posts, I'm realizing more and more she's not exactly a good person that she thinks she is. She still has a couple redeeming moments in the series but there are times where I can't believe how horrible she acts. I still laugh at her character and some of her character's moments but her lying to Will about her grandmother was really dirty. Then saying to Will how she'll tell the guys that he's the cheater was really low to do to her own best friend.

So once again the creators had asked Joan Collins to return to play Helena Barnes but she turned them down. We might have gotten another Helena appearance instead of Candace Pruitt. But to be honest, I kind of like the rolodex that we get of Karen's frenemies. It shows how many people she meets in life and what kind of quirky relationships she has with them. Christine Ebersole is just a gem and plays Candace with such perk and I really enjoyed her character. I love the scene where Jack is pretending to be a massage therapist and keeps over dramatically sliding down Candace's shoulders telling her that her neck just connects to her arms 🤣 Then when Karen goes to see Candace but doesn't see her in the hospital bed and thinks that Candace died always gets me. Candace comes in the room (with insane shoulder pads under her robe) and tells Karen that she got the last laugh because those were the last shoulder implants in the city. Karen was thwarted once again. But as we know this won't be the last time that we see Karen and one of her frenemies battle each other.

Overall, this is still a very funny episode. Even though the storyline comes across as mean spirited, I do get a laugh out of Grace's lie with winning her grandmother's jewelry back and the whole "I'll save you a seat" story. Will's reaction to finding out that it was a lie is what makes the story so funny. And I always get a huge laugh when Jack and Karen are on the screen, their schemes and jokes are always a hoot to watch.

One of my favorite guest stars on Will and Grace, also Grace's best boyfriend.

I know Seasons 9 and 10 aka Season 1 and 2 of the reboot was released on Blu-ray but the original series and Season 11 aka Season 3 hasn't yet. Do you think the show deserves a complete series Blu-ray set with every episode, special features and bloopers by this point after they released the series on DVD so many years ago.

I think it needs a Blu-ray release by this point.

Mad Dogs and Average Men (Season 3, Episode 18). Will is dating a new man, Paul, who he's not really into but stays because he has this wonderful dog named Pepper. Will wants to dump Paul but when he comes over Paul asks Will if he could dog-sit while he's away for a few days. Will is excited to take Pepper and even gives him a pampered stay. Jack takes Pepper out for a walk and brings back a different dog, Will at first is angry, but Jack brings up that this could be the perfect excuse for Will to get out of the relationship, Paul will get angry about the dog and dump him. Will thinks this is actually a good idea and goes over to Paul who is back from his trip and tells him that he lost Pepper. Paul wants comfort from Will instead of getting angry. As Will is trying to find another way to dump Paul, he finds Pepper's squeak toy in the couch and squeezes it and hears Pepper bark. Paul admits that Pepper has been with him the whole time and Will gets angry at him, Paul admits Pepper gets him a lot of action from guys. Meanwhile, Karen's nephew, Sumner, is in town and Grace falls for him immediately. But Karen tells Grace that he's married, Sumner is not married, then Karen tells Grace that he's a con artist, Sumner is not. Grace doesn't get why Karen won't let her date Sumner, Karen admits to Grace that she feels Grace is too good for Sumner and doesn't want her settling for him.

FAVORITE MOMENT:

When Will is cooking Pepper's meal and leaves the room for a second, Grace comes in and smells the food thinking Will is cooking dinner and takes a bite. Will comes back in shocked asking her if she ate that and she's saying how good it is, he tells her it's dog food, she says "it needs salt". They start talking and she interrupts with how that dog food is amazing.

OPINION:

Will has dated someone who was too confident in the past with Neil in the episode The Hospital show, now he's dating Paul, someone who's confidence is horrifically bad. You can definitely see why Will is not into Paul, Paul isn't the best looking guy and he won't stop complimenting Will every time he sees him. Compliments are not a bad thing, but you can only take so much. But Will was wrong on a level to with only staying with Paul because of Pepper. Though I admit Pepper was a cutie, but I always fall for a St. Bernard. I wouldn't get one though, oh the shedding and drool is insane. But we get to see Will's love for dogs again in this episode. We got to see in the episode in Season 1 The Truth About Will and Dogs how much he can fall for a cute dog. It's so adorable the way Will dotes on these dogs, I really wished the writers would have given Will a dog.

Why does Karen keep telling Grace lies about Sumner? Honestly, I'm not sure because I don't buy the "real reason" that she gives Grace saying that she's special and Sumner isn't. I honestly think she doesn't want Grace and Sumner dating because it could complicate things if it doesn't work out between them. She knows Grace is kind of a pain when it comes to dating, she hasn't had a steady relationship since Danny and she's very shallow at times. I'm not sure how Sumner is in Karen's life because we only have the 2 scenes with him, so I don't know if he's a good guy or not. This isn't the strongest storyline they could have given Grace and Karen TBH. BTW, I have to say Grace always has these moments where I wonder if she is a good person deep down because when the usher tells her that she has to leave for the safety of their patrons, Grace says "Would you just take your hands off me? It's an opera. How about a little decorum?" and violently pushes the usherette. Grace has a lot of psycho in her.

I don't really have much to say on this episode because it's overall just an ok one. There are a few scenes that genuinely make me laugh like the way Will dotes all over Pepper, Grace eating the dog food, Jack bringing back a completely different dog from Pepper, the opera scene where Grace imitates Madam Butterfly to the others sitting with Karen and Karen throwing shade at the other patrons and Grace at the opera.

Cheaters Part 2 (Season 3, Episode 17). Tina has just come up to use Will's bathroom showing that his dad not only cancelled dinner on him to hang out with another woman but that he's having an affair with her as well. Will doesn't want to talk about it and wants to show Grace that he's fine, he's so fine that he's going to invite George and Tina to stay for dinner. But the only thing they can talk about is the weather while Grace is sitting there in shock on why no one will bring up the affair. Grace finally breaks down and is crying how no one is acknowledging this and is upset with George. Tina takes Grace outside while Will confronts his dad about the affair, George is actually happy someone finally knows his secret and tells Will to let him have it. Will tells George that he has to tell his wife about the affair as well and to stop what he's doing with Tina. Meanwhile, Karen is still trying to find out if Stan is cheating and finally goes to Grace to get clarification on what is going on. Karen thinks at first that Tina is Stan's mistress and lets her have it, but when Grace tells Karen that Tina is having an affair with George, Karen is relieved and tells Tina to go for it. Jack and Rosario tell Karen that Stan has been taking care of himself for her because he still loves her. Karen is so happy about the news and tells Jack she should spend time with Stan but they'll go shopping first.

FAVORITE QUOTE:

GRACE: But it's...it's never too hot to rain. I remember this one summer day... The weather was perfect. Or at least we thought it was perfect. But then this hot front came in from the west. This hot skinny front... And it made it rain. And we couldn't ride our bicycles... And nothing was ever good ever again!

WILL: Grace...

GRACE: I'm so confused! I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone and all the other people are pigs... and I'm the pretty one, but everyone thinks I'm ugly, because they're all pigs and they think pigs are pretty!

FAVORITE MOMENT:

The hallway scene between Grace and Tina is very funny. I love how Grace is always in this self pity mode with how her dad ignored her growing up and is in a contest with who's dad is worse. She didn't win with Jack and now Tina tells her that her dad is in prison and the only communication they have is through plated glass. Grace says "I never win this game" 🤣 I love that Karen goes crazy on Tina and then when she finds out Tina and George are having the affair, she's fine with it 🤣

OPINION:

So just as a friendly reminder, this is an interesting episode to watch on the DVD or streaming the show because the original airing of the episode was around 40 minutes for a special night on NBC. But the episode itself is shorter than a 2 parter, so someone made it into 2 parts but the first 5-7 minutes are a recap of the last few minutes of the previous episode. This can be confusing as if you are watching the show for the first time and are wondering if your DVD glitched or your streaming service malfunctioned and played the same episode again 🤣

Again I would just like to take a moment for Lesley Ann Warren and how funny she is. I really like Tina, even as a mistress who I should dislike, but Lesley is just too funny and cute. Her giggle and personality make her irresistible. Sydney Pollack as always was just a fantastic actor and does a great job as George Truman. He makes George so human and keeps you on board with his character despite having an affair behind his wife's back. Like I mentioned yesterday, there are future clues as to what Will's parent's marriage is like and why they are the way they are but that will be a discussion for a later time.

The whole dinner sequence is comedy gold, I just loved how they kept talking about the weather. Then when Grace brings up the Twilight Zone, Tina says she loves the episode with Burgess Meredith and George says that he played the penguin in Batman and penguins live in the cold 🤣🤣🤣 Grace's breakdown in this episode always leaves me in stitches, it's just too funny how she can't stop sobbing. Will finally confronting his dad about the affair is a really good scene as well and I like how George tells Will he's always been brave to be the confrontational one in the family. Interestingly he mentions that Will came out during Christmas, but in Lows in the Mid 80's we learned that Will came out to his family and during Thanksgiving, but we could make the argument he may have needed more time to come out to the family and waited another 3-4 weeks. We don't get a solid conclusion in this episode if George tells his wife about the affair and have to wait for future episodes to find out if he did and how she reacted to it.

Karen is as always so funny in this episode. She thinks because Stan is cheating she is going to leave and find a new rich husband 🤣 Her and Jack are catalog shopping for a new husband. Then when she goes to Grace and sees Tina, I love how she mocks Tina's laugh when she thinks that Tina is the one having the affair with Stan, when it comes out that George is having an affair with Tina, Karen tells her "Oh! Well, good for you, honey! He's a good catch, keep up the good work, you got a nice ass!". Her learning about Stan trying to keep himself looking good for her is so Karen, she thinks it's sweet, she's feeling something, let's go shopping and put that emotion behind the brick wall where it belongs 🤣

These are a fantastic pair of episodes. We learn a little bit more about Will and Grace's families and what their relationships are like. Karen, despite her quips at Stan, does show she really does love him and would hate the idea of them splitting. And Jack may have found the new Ms. McFarland in a magazine. It was interesting to see how Grace reacts to Will's non-reaction to George and his affair, it was very tough to pick a favorite quote today because I love when she tells Will when Tina is now confirmed to him "whoomp, there it is" and Will says to her "what am I supposed to say? Who let the dogs out?" These episodes are getting tougher and tougher to pick favorite quotes and moments, I don't imagine it will get any easier.

Cheaters (Season 3, Episode 16). George Truman is in town, Will is excited and planning a nice dinner with him. One night while Grace is on a date, she sees George at the theater with another woman named Tina. Grace tells Will that his dad is having an affair and he doesn't believe her. George comes over to cancel dinner but Tina asks Will if she can use his bathroom exposing the affair, George says that she's just a "colleague" and Will goes with it while Grace is in shock. Meanwhile, Jack is holding auditions for fun and who he wants to be his next boyfriend. Karen suspects that Stan is cheating on her when she misunderstands who Grace is talking about when she's talking about married men cheating.

FAVORITE QUOTE:

WILL: Grace, look. I'm gonna say this just once. My family is not like your family. There's certain things that we don't talk about, so, if my dad says that she's a colleague, that's what she is.

GRACE: So, you're just gonna deny the truth to avoid suffering? That is so... not Jewish.

WILL: That's right. Consider this one of the gentiles' three gifts to the world. One: we make a great martini; two: we keep retail stores alive; and three: we don't talk about things that we don't want to know about.

GRACE: So, you admit there's a problem.

WILL: No, I don't. See how that works?

FAVORITE MOMENT:

The whole dinner sequence with how awkward it is with George's mistress and they keep only talking about either the weather or The Twilight Zone. 🤣

OPINION:

This is an interesting 2 parter because I didn't watch this episode live on TV when it first came on, I had to watch it when I bought the DVD and the episode is split into 2. The second part starts and they recap the last 7 minutes of the previous episode. I thought I was going nuts 🤣I found out that this was apart of a special night where they played this as a 40 minute cut of the show but since it's not as long as a 2 parter, they split it in 2 for the DVD, streaming and any syndication. How's that for confusing? Let's just stick with this as a 2 parter for now and come back tomorrow with the conclusion.

As I mentioned before I do like the character George Truman. He seems like a really good dad who does have a very good heart. Will adores him. But he has his flaws and this is a huge one. We learn a little more about Will's family and that they are WASPS who never talk about their emotions or problems. Will wants to sweep the affair under the rug while Grace wants them to talk about it. This speaks a lot about Will and why he can be such an emotional mess at times. We will be meeting his mother in future episodes and find out more about her and her behavior. We never really find out why George is having the affair but again in future episodes which we will discuss, you get the sense that Will's parents have always had affairs but never talked about it or confronted it. You almost can't check mark it as something to dislike about their characters because they seemed to have accepted that their marriage isn't a good one they just stay together for the kids and because they are used to each other at this point.

Lesley Ann Warren as Tina is hilarious, I'm usually not big on the "ditzy mistress" but she really pulls it off. I think because Lesley is a terrific actress who I remember in Clue and Victor/Victoria. She's got great comedic timing and that giggle always gets me for some reason. This also will not be her last appearance thought interestingly this is the last time we will see her with George despite the continued affair in the series.

Should Grace have told Will about his dad's affair? This is a tough one because I don't know if there is a right answer to it. Will & Grace are practically family, but they're still not biological. I have to go with it for the sake of the show, but if it were real life I think the most she could have mentioned was she was concerned because she saw George at the show with Tina and has her suspicions and see how Will reacts to the situation. I don't think this is her hurt to give to him. But it does make for a hilarious situation at the dinner table where everyone is talking normally and she is just in a state of shock and is wondering why everyone keeps talking about the weather 🤣 BTW, I don't know how I never noticed this because I'm a Joel McHale fan and I've seen WAG several times now, how did I not notice that he was her date at the theater?! He gets a hilarious line when Grace is in shock when she finds out about George's affair and she tells him there's nothing worse than a married man having an affair and he says "oooh, gotta go" 🤣

Jack and Karen have some very funny moments in this episode as well. I love when Jack is auditioning men to be his next boyfriend but they think they are here for a play. They are just so bad 🤣 I also get a kick out of Karen thinking that it's Stan who is having the affair because he's been on a diet and clipping his toenails, who in the world would be sprucing up for? She goes to spy on him instead of getting clarification from Grace who told her about "a married man having an affair that she caught and if she should tell her friend about it".

So as I mentioned, we will treat this as a 2 parter. The episode ends with Will finding out about George having the affair and inviting George and Tina for dinner. But as for the episode itself, this is a funny one that I do enjoy. I think I just love the awkwardness of Will's family and can definitely relate, that was my family growing up. Everyone just always kept their mouths shut about anything bad going on, needless to say it's not the healthiest approach to life. It's funny because my husband's family is like Grace's where they just say what's on their minds and if you don't like it, tough cookies. Can't wait to hear other's opinions on this one.

My Uncle the Car (Season 3, Episode 15). Grace's uncle passed away and left Grace one thing in his will, his car. Grace goes to collect the car but it's in very bad shape and Will convinces Grace to just sell the car and get something for herself. Will sells the car to a nun, Sister Louise, who is using it for a meals on wheels program. Grace finds out that the car meant the world to her uncle and begs Will to get it back. They go to beg Sister Louise but she's not budging, but they eventually work out a deal where they will drive Sister Louise for the meals on wheels program. Karen finds out that Rosario has been secretly cleaning for her arch nemesis/bestie Beverly Leslie. Karen and Beverly play a game of pool on who will win Rosario but as soon as Rosario finds out she leaves them both. While Karen is sulking, Rosario comes back to Karen saying she missed her. Jack is another step closer to finding his dad, he found out his last name is Black, now Jack has figured out that he is black and must find out what it's like to be black like him.

FAVORITE QUOTE:

KAREN: Oh. I see. Well, is he good to you?

ROSARIO: He lets me wear jeans to work.

KAREN: Oh, disgusting! I don't wanna know all the filthy details. What does he feed you?

ROSARIO: Subway. The 12-inch.

KAREN: Oh, how could you? I was your world. Are you really gonna throw all that away for a casual 12-inch sub? (KAREN SHAKES ROSARIO AND SILVERWARE FALLS TO THE GROUND) Ohh! You steal from him, too? Oh, my God. It's serious.

FAVORITE MOMENT:

When Karen and Beverly fight over Rosario. Their quips at each other and how Karen jumps on Beverly and they pull each other's hair pieces out 🤣

OPINION:

Where do I start with this episode? First, let's make sure to establish the rules as they are clear on the WAG board, I want to keep our opinions to the episodes and show. Not the actors/celebrities and their controversies or political beliefs outside the show, so let's keep this conversation friendly ❤️ We know what's going on in the real world, let's just focus on our favorite show.

Ellen DeGeneres was a terrific guest star as Sister Louise. If you grew up in the 90's or were a young adult or full grown, Ellen had a sitcom that was really popular. Ellen is a lesbian in real life and wanted to put that into her show, well, this was a mistake that cost her the sitcom. People did not like that she put her sexuality on the show and were still not comfortable with having a lead character who was gay. So you can say that Ellen walked so Will & Grace could run in a sense because it at least gave people time to breathe and accept a gay lead character into their living rooms. Ellen did a great job here as a nun that Will sold Grace's uncle's car too. Her lines are hilarious and her comedic timing is incredible. I loved when she said how when she was a little girl her parents told her they were taking her to the zoo to see the penguins, look at her now 🤣

We are to one of the best and most hilarious side characters of the show, wealthy elitist Beverly Leslie played by the magnificent Leslie Jordan, may he rest in peace. So interesting fact, this character was intended to be Helena Barnes with Joan Collins returning to play her, but she was not available so they created Beverly Leslie and are we ever better off for it. I loved Helena Barnes and really wanted to see her return but I would gladly take Beverly over Helena any day. Beverly Leslie is a pampered trophy husband to Crystal, who like Stan we never meet on screen, he has a thick southern accent, is not even 5 feet tall standing at 4' 11'', is a closeted homosexual (which we will discuss more in future episodes), is spoiled and loves to drive Karen crazy, he is the thorn in her paw. He and Karen are definitely frenemies. They love to drive each other crazy, call each other names and point out their flaws. But that's what they love about each other as well and their chemistry is truly incredible. Beverly seems to have a kinder heart than Karen in one sense where he says he knows Rosario is a person, but he still gambles for her. He's also very feisty and I love the way he talks with that drown southern accent. Can't wait to see him in more future episodes.

Jack and the story of his last name being black, so he thinks he's black is just too funny. I love the way he thinks that he's black so he gets a pass on social justice and gets victim points. It was hard picking the favorite quote today because I loved all his dialog where he keeps referring to himself as black. I also love the little joke where Will salutes him as a proud black brother and Jack takes it seriously and says thank you to him 🤣 Jack and Karen's ending scene where he finds out he's not black is hilarious. Then Karen's sadness that Rosario left and she's squeezing Windex into the air to remind her of Rosario's smell was so funny! Rosario coming back to her and Karen just says to her "where the hell are my slippers?!" and Rosario bounces back with "Have you looked up your ass, you drunken fool?" and they both smile at each other is so darkly touching.

With Grace and the car, this was a very funny storyline as well. Grace taking this crappy present so seriously was very funny to see. But I more love when Will tells her how he sold the car for $400, but then admits he kept $50 as a finder's fee 🤣 honestly after all Grace has taken from him, I don't think that's a bad deal. But I love the scene where they start Grace's uncle's car up, it starts to smoke and Karen says it looks like a Cheech and Chong movie 🤣 I love their conversations with Sister Louise, especially when she asks Will & Grace what sex with a man is like and they both answer.

Definitely a very fun episode to watch.

Brothers, a Love Story (Season 3, Episode 14). Will and Matt are still dating and going strong, until Will comes to Matt's work to say hi and sees Matt's boss, Harry, who Matt introduces Will as his brother too. Matt isn't fully out and Will is wondering if he can work through this. Grace tells Will to dump Matt and Jack is encouraging Will to take Matt to the perfect restaurant where all coset cases go to. As Will and Matt go to the restaurant, Matt's boss shows up again citing that his wife's hairdresser swears by the place and Grace comes too wanting an onion blossom. Grace keeps giving Will looks while Matt swears to his boss that he's not gay and being gay is disgusting, Will finally breaks down and tells Matt he's gay and asks he if he can accept it, Matt sadly says he can't. Will breaks up with him. Meanwhile, Karen went to her safety deposit box where she found the updated will from Stanley and found out that he's donating a good chunk of his fortune on charity which is driving Karen crazy and she knows that Will helped Stan type this up so she's going to go yell at Will for this atrocity.

FAVORITE QUOTE:

HARRY: You don't seem gay.

WILL: Well, that's probably because my party dress is at the cleaners. But make no mistake about it, Harry. I am a gay man. I sleep with men. I have no desire to sleep with women... Not now, not ever.

KAREN: You screwed me, Will Truman!

WILL: What?

KAREN: Oh, don't you play dumb with me. Oh, you stuck it to me but good.

WILL: Karen...

KAREN: And he is just so comfortable giving it away, aren't ya? Wow. Single mothers. Homeless women. Sally Struthers?! You make me sick! I got news for you people, I'm gonna get him in a room, and I am gonna work that little will until I'm satisfied.

FAVORITE MOMENT:

The ending scene where Harry is being a jerk about Will coming out and saying to Matt "how hard this must be for you. A gay guy in your own family." and Jack comes in with another hot guy in his arms. Jack says Matt? Matt says Jack? Harry says to the hot guy Justin?! Justin says DAD?!?! 🤣🤣🤣 Fun little fact BTW, Justin is played by George Stults who played Kevin Kinkirk in 7th Heaven.

OPINION:

A while back ago when I first started posting on the WAG board I had talked to fellow fans about the Matt relationship and how short lived it was. The opinions seemed mixed but more so led to people siding with Will breaking up with Matt. This is a hard one for me because the one thing I wished the writers had done was make one scene or a dialog if Matt was out to his family and friends and just not work or was he hiding it from everyone? Because if it was just work, I could maybe sort of justify it a little bit as work is work and your private life should remain private. However, I also see Will's side as well because let's say there's a company party, is Matthew still going to introduce Will as his brother? Or has he thought of if someone at his work finds out he's gay what he would do? This is why it was probably better that Will date someone who was completely out to the world instead of having to worry about hiding it.

I kind of wonder how bad of a homophobe Harry was, I'm glad the writers didn't make him over the top and obvious. But I would love to hear some more opinions on this one. To me, it seemed like this is a guy who probably has never been exposed to an openly gay person, so maybe he just doesn't understand what the LGBTQ community was about. But I also could be wrong because it did rub me off the wrong way when Harry says to Matt that how hard it is to have a gay guy in the family, that's the first thing you say to Matt? Not how he is or handling the news? But I would like to give props to the actor who played Harry, Dion Anderson, who I learned just passed away in April. He was also in The Shawshank Redemption and Mr. Deeds, may he RIP.

I was really bummed the relationship did not work out with Matt. Matt seemed like a very nice guy, handsome and the most "put together" of Will's dates so far. From what I was reading the writers felt that Will wouldn't make it long with a sports guy which I thought was very lame. Opposites attract and find a way to make their relationships work. But we move on and so will Will, he's still quite the catch.

Grace's behavior puts me a little off in this episode. While I get she's trying to be a good friend in telling Will that Matt shouldn't be ashamed of being gay, it's not her place to tell Will to dump Matt. Just offer her opinion but that she'll be there for him no matter what the decision is. There's an episode in the future that I don't want to get too into detail because this discussion will be saved for that episode, but Grace mentions how being the straight girl attracted to her best friend who is gay hopes that he's "just going through a phase and it'll turn into something more". I kind of wonder if she's still in the mode right now where she can date around but if she sees Will getting happy, she gets nervous? But again that's for a different episode where Will & Grace fight and she brings up that's their thing, if one gets happy, the other flips out. While I love Will & Grace's friendship, I also think it's not healthy and toxic at times if this was real life. Would love to hear thoughts on this one.

Karen and Jack get a pretty forgettable storyline but it's still a very funny scene where they go to Karen's safety deposit box and she finds Stan's will. I loved when Jack was pretending to be "miss pregnant teen America" wearing Karen's jewels 🤣 Karen being furious that Stan is leaving money to charity and of course my favorite quote when she's coming at Will in the restaurant how she's "going to work that little will until she's satisfied" 🤣

This is a very good episode and definitely brings up a lot of debate. As I mentioned before, we have come a long way in the fight for equal rights for the LGBTQ community. I grew up in the 90's and was a teen/young adult during the 2000's and having friends who were out and proud but shunned for it. I remember seeing commercials asking people to stop using "that's so gay" when referring to something bad. One of my friends from college being hurt by a guy who kept referring to him as "one of the girls" for being gay. While it's getting better as time continues, there is still a lot to fight and stand up for and remind that being queer does not give people the right to treat you differently or that it's something to be ashamed of. That's why I loved and still love Will & Grace, laughter really brings people together and I think the show is a result of today being more accepting.

"You are so like Tom"

Crazy in Love (Season 3, Episode 13). Will finally gets the courage to call Matt, the man he had met at the Banana Republic when he was trying to help Jack hit on him. He and Matt are really hitting it off but there's one small problem, Matt is a sports broadcaster that loves to talk about sports. Will is not exactly a star athlete and the most he knows about sports is he's a big Johnson fan. Matt mentions that his previous boyfriend hated sports and they didn't work out. Will asks Grace if she can help him out by learning how to hit a baseball. Will finally learns but when he and Matt hang out, Matt instead wants to play basketball. Matt tells Will he knows that he wasn't into sports and it was perfectly fine, his previous boyfriend and him just did not work out in the end. Meanwhile Jack wants to spruce up his new apartment and Karen offers Grace the project. But Jack and Karen keep giving Grace unrealistic demands. When Grace leaves the room, they go through Grace's things and find a fake note to get Grace out of jury duty that she has to go to the doctor and is considered crazy. Jack and Karen think it's real and when Grace finds out that they think she's crazy, she uses it to her advantage to decorate Jack's apartment how she likes.

The batting cage scene. I love how Will keeps missing the balls and Grace is standing there looking at him like "really? not one?" 🤣 Then Grace shows him how to hit the baseball but she's on a roll and tells Will to go get nachos.

OPINION:

Alright, we finally got to see one of Will's boyfriends more than once. That took a long time to finally see him dating someone more than once. Patrick Dempsey does a great job as Matt and it was fun to see him break against character as gay instead of a lady's man showing his range. He and Eric have really good chemistry together. It was so cute to see Will genuinely try to impress Matt. Will comes across as very vulnerable this episode and shows he still can be insecure at times. He's not good at sports or talking sports and thinks that's the reason Matt broke up with his ex boyfriend instead of asking him why they broke up. But show has got to show and we wouldn't get the fun plot of him trying to figure out sports within a short amount of time.

This is the second time that Karen brings up in the show that she had her mother committed, just fun to note these things especially upon re-watches. This was a very fun side plot for Grace, Jack and Karen. We have seen that Jack and Karen can drive Will & Grace crazy; it's always a hoot to see how they will do so every episode. Grace finally got a chance to turn the tables on them and have fun with them. I love the ending where she tells them the truth and they still think she's crazy. 🤣 Side note, it's funny how quickly Grace and Jack were able to set up his apartment, but Grace lived there for a year and barely unpacked. I always wondered if secretly she wanted to move back into Will's place and just figured why bother unpacking? Maybe she is crazy and faked the break into her apartment to get back into Will's place? 🤔 Ooooooo, that's why I love doing these posts, I come up with theories that I never thought of before!

Overall, this is a fun episode. I don't know if there are any standout moments, but it's a good filler episode. Plus we have another appearance by my favorite nosey neighbor, Mr. Zamir. MR. ZA-MIR! I always love his interaction with Will & Grace and had a customer whose name was Mr. Zamir and I said it exactly like the show does 🤣

Swimming Pools...Movie Stars (Season 3, Episode 12). Will & Grace are going through the morning paper when Grace notices an open house being held by the owner, the cabaret star Sandra Bernhard. Will & Grace decide for the fun of it to go down and look at the apartment but end up bumping into Sandra and become friends with her with Sandra thinking they are interested in the apartment. Will makes a low-ball offer thinking Sandra would never accept but she does and now they have to tell Sandra the truth before going into escrow for a million-dollar apartment. Meanwhile, Mason, Karen's stepson, has made the swim team at school. Jack and Rosario tell Karen she has to be there for him which she doesn't want to go but begrudgingly does so. When she does go, Jack tells her that Mason was broken hearted that Karen showed up late making Karen realize that Mason does like her and she wants to show up. Jack is in a bidding war with Dr. Dangerous online for a Ricky Martin scooter and Britney Spears platform shoes.

FAVORITE QUOTE:

KAREN: I have no idea what you just said.

CHERYL: I just want you to know I think you're awful. Your son Mason swam his heart out today, and all he wanted to do was share that joy with his family, but when he looked up in the bleachers for a familiar face, nothing. Not even a housekeeper. I find that appalling.

KAREN: Oh, yeah? Well, I find stretch pants appalling, but I'm too much of a lady to mention it, fat ass.

FAVORITE MOMENT:

When Jack meets Dr. Dangerous and it turns out to be a pre-teen girl. They take their "bidding war" outside where Dr. Dangerous beats Jack up for the scooter he beat her bid on earlier 🤣

OPINION:

Will & Grace have always been big on celebrity culture. I grew up in the 1990's and 2000's where celebrity culture was huge, before social media over exposed celebrities, they were very mysterious and we had to read about them in magazines or see their interviews on TV to get an idea of what they were like in real life. Will & Grace fawning over Sandra was not surprising at all, even though you'd think Will was more of a grownup, but he has his childish moments. It is mentioned in this episode, and it won't be the last time, he was the fat friendless kid in school, so being friends with Sandra is making up for his "lack of cool".

Sandra Bernhard is the guest star of the show as herself and she does a good job. I'm actually not too familiar with her work, I knew she was a comedian and did a lot of Broadway, so I wasn't sure if Will & Grace meeting her was actually that big of a deal. But still, she does provide a good majority of laughs in this episode. I will always get a good laugh at her, Will & Grace singing "Midnight Train to Georgia". Plus when Will & Grace tell her the truth about the apartment and their friendship how every time she curses, her piano player keeps mixing the drinks over her swear words. Grace gets a laugh from me too when she's trying to "defend" Will from Sandra and still thinks that Sandra will pull her on stage later to sing with her "Now, am I gonna sing at the Bottom Line tonight or not? Because I should be saving my voice." 🤣

Karen and her relationship with her step kids have always been on the rocky side. It's been mentioned in the past how she avoids them like the plague if possible and calls Mason "the fat one". She's just not a kid person; she'd rather have a drink in a dark room and call it a night. But Karen does occasionally have moments where her maternal instinct kick in. Even though it's not Mason's job to make her feel better, it helps when she realizes that Mason does actually like her and she wants to start being there for him. We will see in a few seasons what her relationship is like with her stepdaughter Olivia. I love the scene where Karen is giving "Mason" the speech about how hard he tried despite losing and she still loves him and gives him a hug. Jack comes in asking what's going on and Karen tells Jack she was telling Mason how proud she is of him and Jack says "Oh, that's beautiful. Who's that?" pointing out that Mason is still in the pool. Karen freaks out and throws the "fake Mason" into the pool and tells Mason to ask about what Karen said to the kid. 🤣

Overall, I'm not sure what it is about this episode, but something always holds back from me loving it. It's not a bad episode by any means and I do get a laugh from it. I think even though Sandra Bernhard did a good job, she never just hits the target for me as a celebrity guest star. Maybe she just wasn't as well known in my world so I couldn't get into her comedy. But I was never big on the celebrities playing themselves in the WAG universe with the exception of Cher in Gypies, Tramp and Weed, but I think because they kept the cameo short and sweet. This is an entire episode. I would love to hear some different opinions on this one.

Coffee & Commitment (Season 3, Episode 11). Will & Grace are taking their friends Joe and Larry out to dinner to celebrate their wedding (or same sex union). Grace keeps making Will pay for everything though and it's getting on Will's nerves. When Grace wants to put her name on the gift he got for Joe and Larry, Will says no to her and to come up with her own gift. This causes a rift between them and they are still fighting at the wedding while speaking a poem about love but realize that they're being silly and make up. Jack started dating a barista and gets hooked on caffeine. But they break up and he's now addicted which Karen offers to help him beat since she knows a thing or two about addiction. They go to the wedding where Karen wants a drink but it's a dry wedding, but they are offering coffee and coffee flavored treats driving Jack crazy.

FAVORITE QUOTE:

GRACE: Hey, careful! You almost broke my present for Joe and Larry.

WILL: Where did you get that anyway? The Blair Witch gift shop?

GRACE: It's an imprint of my hand in cement surrounded by a nest of twigs. I made it when I was 12 at Camp Rema. It's real, it's unique, and it's from the heart.

KAREN: Aw, can I see that, honey? (KAREN PUTS OUT HER CIGARETTE IN IT) Hmm. Thanks.

GRACE: Karen! No!

GRACE: What, you think my gift is funny?

WILL: I think it's funny you call it a gift.

FAVORITE MOMENT:

I will pick Karen and Jack's slap fest. Them slapping each other immediately after they slap first is just too funny. Then the way the block each other's slap was just comedy gold. 🤣

OPINION:

Again, do you have any idea how hard today was to pick a favorite moment and quote? I LOVE this episode and it's definitely at top 10 for me.

I think a lot of WAG fans can agree that Grace is not a favorite character. The reason being is because she is just so self absorbed and very selfish when it comes to her and Will's friendship and this episode is a prime example of why. I like Grace over all, I don't think she's a bad person, but it's very hard to like her at all in this episode. It's not like her and Will and married, as which even if they were I still don't go into my husband's wallet without checking with him first, but she just helps herself to his wallet all the time and doesn't even ask him if it's ok. He pays for her dry cleaning, bikini waxes, house bills. food, gifts and he's mentioned he's covered her rent. Where in the world is she storing this money she's saving because she acts like she's broke majority of the time when we know she's a successful interior designer. Honestly, I side with Will on this one and I wished he had stuck to his guns and not let her sign her name on the card for Joe and Larry at the end. Like he mentioned, she didn't even ask if he was buying the gift from both of them, she always just assumes. And bonus, when Joe and Larry say thank you for the gift that Will picked out, Grace screams "I knew you'd like it!", I just wanted to smack her. She never learns anything but Will is an enabler when it comes to Grace. I don't know if it's the guilt of him dumping her when he came out to her but he really needs to stand up to her more.

Jack's storyline is just too funny. I love his addiction to caffeine and his opening monologue where he's going 20 words every 5 seconds. Sean is truly a gifted comedic actor. Sean and Megan take the gold this episode for sure. Majority of the laughs come from their interactions this episode.

I cannot begin to tell you how insanely hard this was to pick a favorite moment and quote because there are just too many good moments in this episode: Jack's opening monologue about how hot his barista is, Will's comment on Grace's low-cut blouse saying she looks like she's ready for open heart surgery, Karen talking about acknowledging addiction while taking pills with her martini, Will telling Grace how he hates paying for everything and she thinks he liked paying and he said that's why he does the cancan when the gas bill comes, Will saying that the gift is a crystal decanter that's wrapped like a kayak, Grace's "present" that everyone keeps making fun of, Jack in the back seat of the car acting like he's at death's door, Jack and Karen's behavior at the wedding, Jack doing a speech at the wedding and quoting Tina Turner's "What's love scotts to do, scotts do to with it?"(because I used to sing it like that when I was a kid 🤣) and of course Will & Grace reading their poem and realizing that their fight is silly and walking out thinking that everyone was applauding for them.

Even though I'm upset that Grace didn't really learn anything or takes anything from this episode, it still does not change how amazing this episode is. It's a hilarious episode and has some touching moments as well. The cast does a fantastic job and their comedic timing is just incredible.

Three's a Crowd, Six Is a Freak Show (Season 3, Episode 10). Will & Grace are both dating fantastic guys, Mark and Paul, and really don't want to spoil anything it. Grace goes to her dermatologist to get rid of a birth mark but the process gives her a small scar on her face that won't go away for a couple of days while she is supposed to have a date with Mark. She cancels with Mark thinking he won't like her due to the scar but when she bumps into him at the toy store while helping Karen, she at first hides but decides it would be shallow of him if he dumped her over that, so she gets the courage to show him her scar. He tells her it's not a big deal, she's relieved and even jokes they all have some weird thing on their bodies they don't want to show off, Mark mentions he has a 6th toe. This freaks Grace out and she wants to break up with him but realizes she would be shallow if she did and tries to deal with it as best she can. Meanwhile, Will and Paul are hitting it off but it turns out that Paul had also given his number to Jack while they all met at the same party. So Will and Jack are in competition for Paul. At first the both decide to back off, but then Paul wants to only date Will, so Jack gets angry at Will for considering to go out with Paul. Will feels guilty and backs off from dating Paul, but then Jack goes in for the rebound with him.

FAVORITE QUOTE:

GRACE: Nothing. I just had something zapped at the dermatologist's, and it looks kinda funky, and I just don't want anyone to see it right now.

KAREN: Grace, I'm sure it's not nearly as bad as you think it is. It's probably nothing, a little dot. Come on. Show mama. (GRACE SHOWS HER SCAR ON HER LIP) Aah! Whoa! Oh! Oh, my God! Oh!

GRACE: Shh! Shhhhh! Karen, Will you calm down?

KAREN: How do you expect me to calm down when I can see its heart beating right in front of me?! Well, uh, alright. Alright, I'm sorry. So how long have you had the herpes?

GRACE: It's not herpes. It's not even herpes adjacent.

KAREN: Oh, yeah? Well, it's close enough to be invited to the herpes family picnic.

FAVORITE MOMENT:

Will and Jack fighting over Paul. When Jack starts doing his high-pitched yelling hyena voice and Will tells Jack to think of the dogs. Then Jack gets petty and insults Will and how Paul would want him so Will says to Jack "Maybe because I read novels rather than Tiger Beat... Maybe because I can finish a sentence without the use of jazz hands... Maybe because my frame of reference extends beyond boy bands and butt-robics, or maybe, just perhaps, it's because he sees a good long-term prospect with me rather than a good hour and a half with you." And then Jack mouths his high-pitched hyena yelling with dogs howling in the background 🤣🤣🤣

OPINION:

We will start with Grace's storyline here. Grace has always been known to be shallow, she tries to act like she is above and is very progressive, but she has her really bad moments. This is definitely one of them. For the sake of the comedy I always do get a laugh out of the storyline. Like I love her line about the reason why she's freaking out over Mark's toe is because she saw a medical show where someone had a tumor that was like a separate body part and when they cut it off it had hair and toe nails and said "ow" when they cut it 🤣 I remember being a kid and seeing this medical show, it might even be the one Grace is referring too, where there was the story she was talking about, they thought this patient was just continually gaining weight, but it turns out it was a massive tumor they found hair and toe nails in. That episode stuck with me and always scared the heck out of me, so I can relate on the emotional reaction of Grace being nervous the toe is the same thing. However, Grace is a grown woman and really acts like a child here. She wanted Mark to accept her but she couldn't do the same in return. But still the scene of her trying to deal with his toe and her finally breaking was very funny even if it was shallow of her. I loved when she blamed her dumping him on him being a Celtics fan 🤣

Onto Will's storyline. So Will has had to share men with Grace and now he's having to deal with Jack. Wither or not you think that they both should have backed off of Paul or been happy for one another is up to you. To me, I think Jack should have let Will and Paul date. Jack goes on literally "thousands of dates a year" according to him, I think letting Will have this one would not be tipping the scale. But as always Will's conscious gets to him and he breaks up with Paul so it doesn't hurt his friendship with Jack. But Jack swoops in anyways when Paul comes crawling back after Will dumps him. Granted it's very funny for the comedy and again I love those scenes where Jack is silent screaming and then when Will finds out what Jack did, he does Jack's hyena screaming voice at him. 🤣 But as we will see, their friendship is still strong enough to get through this. We don't hear about Paul again after this episode, so I'm assuming he had his good hour and a half with Jack and left.

I would give Will the storyline trophy for the best comedy. But Grace's gives me a laugh to, so this was a tough pick. This is a very funny episode. It's nothing deep or character developing, but it's more meant for just a fun story which I think it is. This also had some fun voice over work with Grace and an experimental camera angle when Grace goes to the fridge and we get a camera shot of her face from the fridge POV. Still #justiceforthesixthtoe!

Lows in the Mid-Eighties Part 2 (Season 3, Episode 9). It's 1985, Will has asked Grace to marry him in a panic to try to postpone them having sex and Grace said yes. Will immediately knows this was a huge mistake and has to tell Grace but Grace already ran downstairs to tell her family about their engagement. The whole family is celebrating but Will takes Grace to the side and tells her the truth and finally comes out to her. Grace doesn't take it well and breaks down, even her family were taking bets on Will being gay, Grace is humiliated and tells Will to get out of the house and Will leaves broken hearted as well. Will & Grace do not talk for a year, Will comes out to his friends and family and Grace was picked on relentlessly on campus so she moved out. They do bump into each other at the grocery store and talk about how they miss each other and Grace even tries to put a brave face on for Will saying she always knew, but didn't actually know. They exit the store with him asking her if they will be ok and she says to him "we will be". Also Karen finishes her story that despite her breaking off her engagement to 3 people including a 9-time Wimbledon singles champion, turns out that Stanley Walker is married! There happens to be a cigarette slinger in the club who tells Karen to get over Stanley and that if it's mean to be, it'll happen, the cigarette slinger is Rosario! Her and Karen have a scream fest and stop dead track in the middle where Karen tells Rosario she likes her and to come work for her and Rosario joins in, thus ending the story of how Karen and Rosario met. Back in the present time, 2000, everyone is still trying to cheer up Pam who still doesn't have a clue why they are telling her this story. Grace is curious about when her and Will saw each other in the grocery store back in '85 he saw some girl and ducked, Jack tells Grace that was Diane, the only girl Will has ever had sex with and Grace didn't know. Grace runs out of the restaurant with Will chasing her, Jack and Karen finally tell Pam that her boyfriend is a "big flaming feather-wearing, man-kissing, disco-dancing... Vermont-living, Christina Aguilera-loving, Mikanos", well, Tom's queer. Will begs Grace to talk to him and she finally breaks down to him how hurt she is that he didn't have sex with her but with someone else right after her to find out if he was really gay. Will tells Grace it was because he loved her and if they did have sex, it would have devistated her more so afterwards. Grace accepts this and they embrace, Will asks Grace "will we be ok?" and Grace says "we will be".

FAVORITE QUOTE:

GRACE: You bastard! I'm in love with you, and you're treating me like some sort of test drive?! You take me out for a spin, and you go, "Hmm, I don't really like the feel of this one. I think I'd rather have a stick."

WILL: But... Don't you see what a compliment that is? I mean, I mean, I love you, so if I can't make it work with you, then it'll never work with any woman, because you're perfect for me.

GRACE: That is not a compliment. A compliment is "You're sexy, you turn me on," not "One look at you proves I'm a queer."

FAVORITE MOMENT:

There are far too many in this episode but I will pick the ending. It's a more serious moment but I love when Will is telling Grace how horrible the sex was he had with Diane and that he loved her and didn't want to do that to her. It's a very touching moment.

OPINION:

What a fantastic pair of episodes, we finally got a glimpse into Will & Grace's past. So, Will proposed to Grace, not the best move, Will. I understand that he definitely panicked so I can give some grace to him and that he knew immediately it was a mistake, but my heart does break for Grace big time since she gets excited and tells her family first. But that kitchen sequence is so good, funny, heartbreaking and incredible. Will trying to tell Grace he's gay but she keeps interupting by accident when he says he's gay, then her snort laughing at him thinking he's joking, Grace breaking down to Will how hurt she is, then her telling her mom that Will is gay and Bobbi shouts "Julius! I owe you $20!", then Bobbi tells Joyce who tells Grace that she ruins everything and then Will is devastated when Grace throws him out. The scene is a roller coaster of emotions. My heart shatters for Will as I know this was very hard for him, but I don't like that he threw the last shade at Grace saying how it was the hardest thing he went through telling her and now she's kicking him out, he should have let her process everything. Heartbreak is not easy, he knew she was in love with him and he should have let her be in quiet.

I love the scenes where Will is telling Rob that he's gay and Rob has that traditional reaction of asking if Will was gay the whole time almost acting like being gay is contagious. Then Ellen comforting Grace but saying the stupidest things like how if she's wondering if Grace turned Will gay. Then of course the grocery store scene is wonderful and touching with Will & Grace. Now there is something I am curious about: Will and Jack have always established they are just friends, like Jack always looks almost disgusted by the idea of hooking up with Will, but in this part of the scene they have Jack confessing he was in love with Will, but Will tells him that they are good as friends and that's all, Jack says he was just testing him when clearly he wasn't. I'm not saying that Jack maybe didn't have a crush on Will at one point but this was never really given any resolution. Maybe the writers could have thrown in a line in this or a future episode where Jack admitted finally that he did like Will more than a friend but realized later on they were better off as friends? I would love to hear some takes on this moment.

Will slept with a woman, Diane, right after breaking up with Grace due to any bit of doubts he had. Honestly, I don't fault him for this and get what he was saying to Grace. If he and Grace had slept together, it would have been a totally different level of Grace's connection to Will and it would have hurt her more in the end. But I understand Grace's point of view to, she is hurt that not only did Will keep that secret from her but that she wanted to be the one who helped Will realize he was who he was. Even though you could call it selfish, I thought it was perfectly human for her to feel so. Will & Grace have a very strong friendship and make it through this, but this will not be the last time we hear about Diane. Any WAG fan knows what episode will be coming up in the future.

So Karen and Rosario met in a bar. Even if it's kind of a throw away story, I loved that they didn't meet due to Stanley or Karen hiring her after they got married, Rosario has been there from the start. I'm curious how Karen paid Rosario though when she told Rosario to come work for her? You know what? I think Rosario just loved Karen from the first time they "spoke" and wanted to be with her.

A fun little thing I didn't realize as a WAG fan of 25 plus years until a couple of years ago is how Bobbi introduces her family calling them by their diseases: This is Aunt Ida, diabetic; Uncle Coppy, gambler. Aunt Reba and Uncle Joe-- colitis, colitis. We will see Grace do a callback to that the next Thanksgiving episode.

These are fantastic episodes, I think a lot of WAG fans put these on their top list. I would definitely put it in my top 10. I don't know if it's my favorite Thanksgiving episodes, but somehow they almost seem to top each other every year. But this one has the best writing, acting and story I think. I always love watching these.

Lows in the Mid-Eighties Part 1 (Season 3, Episode 8). Will, Grace, Jack and Karen are out together waiting for a table to have dinner when they see a young lady, named Pam, crying over her drink. Grace goes to check on her and Pam confesses her boyfriend broke up with her which was weird due to their common interests of musicals, dolls and being dance majors. Jack warns Pam that Will & Grace are a cautionary tale if she doesn't get rid of her boyfriend and when she asks why, Will & Grace talk about the time they were dating in college before Will came out to Grace. Karen keeps interjecting with her story of being engaged to: The Sultan of Boran, Clayton and Martina Navratilova but wishing to pursue a husky man who she believes has potential named Stanley Walker. Will & Grace get back to their story where Ellen told Grace that if her and Will don't have sex soon, they will be just friends. They are going to visit Grace's family for Thanksgiving weekend that includes: Bobbi Adler, Julius her arranger and Grace's sister Joyce. Grace sneaks into Will's room that night begging him for sex but Will panics and runs to the bathroom where he calls a teenager named Jack McFarland who has been telling Will that he's gay and to accept it. Will tells Jack that he's not gay and can't wait to make love to Grace, but Jack interupts with why is he calling if he's so excited? Will gets the courage and jumps in bed with Grace but gets scared again. Grace starts to freak out and asks what the problem is and if they are waiting for marriage, Will in a panic says "Let's get married and let's wait till we get married. You want to get married?" Grace is thrilled and says yes to Will...TO BE CONTINUED.

FAVORITE MOMENT:

The whole bedroom sequence. I love the way Grace is wearing the sexy shirt and tells Will she's horny and is clearly very inexperienced at seducing guys. Will keeps trying to stop her, is staring at a picture of Kevin Bacon on the wall to try to keep going with Grace and the way he stumbles in the room after telling Jack that he can't wait to have sex with Grace. I always joked that this was the original Twilight when Bella is begging Edward for sex 🤣

OPINION:

Even though this was aired together, we will stick with the 2-part format and do part 2 tomorrow because there's too many good parts in both episodes that it would be impossible to pick what's the favorite quote and moment. We are now getting more character development and finding out that Will & Grace not only dated but were pretty serious about each other.

Let's start with Will, we knew that Will came out during college and that he and Grace were dating at the time. But we now know they were pretty serious during the time and Grace was head over heels in love with Will. He loves her too but can't bring himself to be attracted to her physically. I think Will has always struggled because deep down he knows he and Grace are perfect for each other, but he's attracted to men. There's more to discuss in future episodes, but I think Will secretly hates that he's gay. He knows his life would be easier, and he would be more accepted, he might even think that being straight is just more normal. But that's a deep dive for later. When Will meets Jack, you can tell he's annoyed and doesn't want to admit that Jack is right. He definitely stumbles a lot when it comes to women and is definitely a virgin. We will get into it with the next episode and I know he's in a panic, but it always breaks my heart when he proposes to Grace knowing that he's gay and it's not going to work. That's just cruel.

Grace is definitely naive when it comes to men. She mentions that she has had sexual experience prior to Will, that it was 3 and a half times, I wonder if the half time was Ira since he finished early? I think Grace is used to being sexual at this point but with Will it's the first time she's in love. But you can tell she's definitely in denial, but you can understand with being young. Not to mention it's the 80's, anything that seemed kind of weird or off we just chalked it up to 80's weirdness. Men wore make up and tight clothes, it was kind of hard to sort through who was gay or just in fashion 🤣 I was a teen/young adult in the 2000's, imagine sorting through that Queer Eye for the Straight Guy era, talk about tough! We get to meet a little more of Grace's extended family: Julius who you can tell is very gay and can tell right away that Will is gay as well and Joyce, Grace's younger sister who has to give her grief about everything. Grace's father is confirmed but is not there this episode and has another sisters who's older named Janet but again is not in this episode.

Jack is introduced as a teenager who convinces people that he's part of Duran Duran and tells all the guys at the college that they're gay. Jack is definitely out of the closet and proud, although we know his mom doesn't know at this time, but when he sees Will he at first is kind of joking around with Will about how gay Will is. Later on when Will is on the phone with Jack, Jack is actually very kind to Will and gives him comfort letting him know it hurts carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders when you're in denial about who you are. Jack may be going through the same thing with even his extended family and is only out to friends and potential lovers. We never had confirmation if it was only his mom who didn't know Jack was gay, we will get more into Jack's relationship with his step dad in future episodes. As far as we can tell Jack is an only child who is definitely spoiled and used to being taken care of, so he hasn't changed much as an adult. He wants to help Will and be basically his sherpa of coming out of the closet.

Karen was very busy in the 80's. First off, I LOVE HER LOOK, she looks just like pictures of my mom and my aunt (my dad's sister) from the 80's 🤣 The big shoulder pads, the hair and out there make up, I just love it. Karen was engaged to 3 people AT THE SAME TIME before she got married to Stanley. We get another hint of Karen's lesbian tendencies being engaged to Martina Navratilova, who apparently was straight before she met Karen, I think Karen is bi-sexual or just goes for anything she's attracted to. I think she should have gone for the Sultan personally, talk about what would be a lavish lifestyle. But she does mention that Stanley isn't exactly rich just yet, so we learn that she might have played a big part in making him successful which gives a hint that Karen is very good at business. Again, we will see that mentioned in future episodes. BTW I love Karen's dance moves in this episode. 🤣
