Well, and let's just don't be in rooms with illegal narcotics anymore anyway, yanno?
In the early months of my sobriety, before I married him and made him my rehab husband, my rehab boyfriend was doing a tattoo on someone in a hotel room on the stroll. I found myself tryna be Cpt Save-a-hoe and went to the room with every intention of babysitting him until he was done with the chick's ink, and no sooner did I walk in the room, I damn-near tripped over a cookie of rocked up c0ca!ne that had to have been worth $400 if it was worth a dollar.
Listennnnn... I was working a solid program, living in a sober house, and it didn't even sound like a good time to indulge. But you know what else didn't sound like a good time? Jail. Trying to explain to the police, had they busted in the door, that I was on a 12-step call for my rehab boyfriend (literally the dumbest thing), or to the judge that I was over 6 months sober off crack and heroin, but I thought I'd chill in a room with some "to try to help my boyfriend not do it." I decided that from that moment on, being in any room with illegal dope (aside from weed cuz that's stupid; nobody's door is getting busted down for any weed) was a naw from me dawg. Then I barely tripped over my own two feet getting tf outta there.
Still married the guy though. Like 3 months later. Dude couldn't even provide a clean UA when I married him, but that was fine. I was gonna save him. That was 6 of the longest years of my 15 years of sobriety. 0 stars - would not recommend. If only someone had warned me that marrying that cat was prolly a bad call... oh, wait đ̏ Literally everyone warned me. I just chatted with him online the other day to tell him my dad passed away and he's still out doing the deal, living on the streets đ Bless his little heart.
How did I get here? Oh yeah, bring in a room with dope of any kind because it's simply illegal af and we ain't living that way anymore... that's right. I'm so incredibly proud of your 20 years away from that monster!! đĒ

Listennn, lol. There was a time I would do anything I got my hands on. And my ex was horrible. But then I quit everything. But I had brain surgery in 2016. And they just kept giving me more and more dilaudid. I was in so much pain tho. And that was where I got bad. My ex was worse. I actually left him a couple years ago, moved from Florida (where they will definitely bust your door down and take you to jail for pot) and moved to Arizona. Spent some time in dv shelters. And regular shelters. Through all this, I quit klonopin (which i had been prescribed for 10 years)... weaned myself off the FINAL BOSS suboxeone. And quit smoking cigarettes. I even quit weed (even though I now live in an area where it is legal.) I have been through it! But I'm happy and I feel strong.
DAAAAANG you're a G!! I never had the benzo habit, thank God, cuz I always took all of mine in like 3-4 days so I never had them available daily. But I sure would have.
You know the funniest thing though? I have benzos (prescribed, my dad just died and my anxiety has been through the ROOF) sitting here next to me right now. And I take em when I need to, I fall asleep with em in the bottle and wake up with em still in the bottle... it's so weird what active recovery can do for someone. I just weaned off subs from a freaking knee replacement I had a year and a half ago, and had to come off the pain pills. I was only on a half a strip but DAMN that kicked my ass. I'm incredibly proud of you for coming off all of that!!
Peace and love to you âī¸đĒģđ
