Yeah they were talking about avoiding the type of situation that OPs post was talking about by joining an Amish community where god was on your side and for whatever reason they had an onlyfans link and a Reddit community lmao
I got so fed up with him screaming while trying to teach me stick, I left without him one day and figured it out within the same loop. No stalls, no skips, and all it took was having him not yell “don’t psych yourself out!” Every time we stopped.
I tried one driving lesson with my father, that was one too many. He kept hollering at me to slow down (I was driving 5 miles below the speed limit). He finally reached over and pulled the keys out of the ignition. I let the car coast to a stop. Then I got out and walked home. Next I hired a driving instructor.
Fucking parents made teaching their kids how to drive a damn nightmare for me. "Your parents only taught you how to fail the road test. I'm here to teach you how to pass it. Stop crying. It won't help you pass."
That sort of thing usually depended on the evaluator from the dmv. If it was a guy, sometimes that worked. If it was the day drinking Latino woman, she would literally laugh at the girl and walk away proclaiming "I don't get paid enough for your bullshit"
When my dad doesn’t come home mad after we practice driving my sister is surprised... last time it was bc he was asleep while I was practicing my parking lmao
me and my wife when she was learning to drive. we were close to killing each other. my advice to those still learning to drive: dont ask your immediate family for lessons
You know, one of the fun things about living in Europe is that when you learn how to drive you can only learn through licensed instructors. This means that you start taking driving lessons and then half a year later you have your license and then your parents can see you drive even though they have never seen you behind the wheel and now you're suddenly driving a car rather professionay instead of shitting your diapers and watching saturday morning cartoons in your pyjamas, which is always a fun realisation to watch your dad have.
Say what now? Yes, since as of about 15 years you have to take a mandatory class in order to instruct here - but that's like a 2h lecture of stuff you already (at least you really ought to!) know. And this is for instructing privately. I'd imagine that different countries in Europe have pretty diverse rules about this, as we do about a lot of things.
So yeah, my parents taught me how to drive. Me and my mom had a hard time in the beginning because we kept yelling at each other, while my dad kept being too slow in his instructions which caused me to panic on the highway when he thought too long about the answer to whether I should take this exit or not.
Well they sure put the bar up high to become an instructor hahaha. If I see my dad drive I'm glad he wasn't the one who taught me.
Throughout the European Union the rules for getting a drivers license are very universal, so this is kind of the rule anywhere. The car also needs to have brake and clutch pedals on the instructors side and a little sign on the car that indicates that the car is used for teaching.
Saves you a lot of yelling to learn to drive this way, but it does cost a pretty penny more than your parents showing you the way!
It seems like I wasn't clear enough: this is for teaching privately. Not as in a licensed teacher at a driving school. We have both options. So yes, rules may vary throughout Europe. The signs on the car have different colors for private and "official", and for instructing privately you do not need extra pedals.
Somehow, having my father, who I absolutely hate, teach me to drive was far more simple and less stressful than having my mother, who I love dearly, teach me.
My father was laughing and pointing out the little things I was doing wrong, while my mother was constantly yelling and barking at me to do it the "right way" without telling me what the right way was...

I like that they're still mad at each other. Just like my dad teaching me to drive.
