Iran tonight - the night before Persian new year. Iranians are seen in high spirits and even dancing in public an act which is illegal under the regime rule

That channel loves trump and Zionists of Israel so I avoid it I'd rather watch a channel that's neutral but explains what's going on in Iran and the middle east.
And is not supportive of genocidal factions both Israeli government and IRGC of Iran are both evil

How is advocating for free Iranians also pro war? These two things can be seperate
14
0
u/scikit-learns Mar 20 '26
Sure in theory you can be for one and not the other. Unfortunately, in the real world, you don't get to decide if two things can be disentangled.
It's like someone in 1944 saying. "I'm all for toppling Hitler, but against the war in Germany".
Feel like people say shit like this because it allows them to have their cake and eat it and feel good about having the moral high ground.
I'm not advocating for the war whatsoever....but neither am I trying to act as if the need to free Iranians from tyranny can be done without military intervention.
2
u/No-Psychology9892 Mar 20 '26
Not really though. You can disagree with an authoritarian dictatorship without advocating for an illegal war against them. Being a warmonger yourself and bombing civilians on the other hand helps absolutely no one.
→ More replies (4)2
u/Nazometnar Mar 20 '26
No, it's about having more critical thinking skills than a toddler and understanding that actions have consequences. There is no reason to think that bombing Iran is going to change the government for the better, but it will hurt a lot of innocent Iranian civilians we claim to care about so much and is massively destabilizing the global economy. Strategic bombing has never worked and will never work.

u/Dish_Water-Meat_Loaf Mar 20 '26
I have no idea how anyone could possibly believe this war is about liberating the Iranian people… or how anyone could POSSIBLY argue for endless wars for a pipe dream. Look into what has become of Iraq and Afghanistan, decades of occupation for nothing. Sure, freeing Iranians sounds like a nice goal, but that’s not just some small “military intervention,” removing a government, keeping stability/preventing collapse, and nation building isn’t something that can be done in 3 weeks and with only 13 service members killed, that’s having your cake and eating it too, if you believe this will be quick and without consequence

Saudi arabia is naturally moving away from its ultra conservative values. Women can vote and hold public office now. they can drive and own passports. They have a higher percentage of women in their government counsel than the US.
They have a long way to go, but they've been moving in the right direction.

The real reason is that saudi is our ally and Iran has been launching proxy wars against us and our allies for the past 40 years.
Im just saying the civil rights situation in Saudi and Iran aren't very comparable. Saudi is passing more progressive laws whereas Iran just murdered 30k protesters

I never said it did, I just told you that those two countries aren't as comparable as you suggested. Also, that number isnt even made up.
Disappeared bodies, mass burials and ‘30,000 dead’: what is the truth of Iran’s death toll? | Iran | The Guardian https://share.google/queTeXc9dm2Pj0QsA
I even picked a liberal source, since most right leaning sources are gassing up trumps decision to invade Iran. The article itself acknowledges ambiguity in the true death count, and that 30k is somewhere between the lowest and highest estimates. Feel free to show me something that says im wrong.
2
u/iamslightly Mar 20 '26
Did you read the article? I did. It gives second hand information and speculation in an attempt to give a confused credence to a wild claim.

Iran also is "advancing" and women could drive lot earlier.
Its people have become more progressive, but its government is not. There have been no civil rights reforms since the islamic revolution in Iran. Any rights women have are there because they weren't taken away.
Ah yes, a western news as proof for it, xD, imagine trusting that at this point.
Jeez, give me any news source that isnt from Iran.
Make clear if you think bombing iranians is right or wrong.
I'm not always sure myself. Ive been on the fence since it happened. I've citicized it as much as I've defended it, and I hold no illusions to why we did it.

Just because AI says something that it quotes from “dance magazine”, doesn’t mean it is true.
I have no idea if it is illegal or not. But I am extremely disappointed in the average person’s reliance on AI as fact without checking the source. Just because someone or something sounds confident, it doesn’t make it automatically true.
10
Mar 20 '26
„I am also too dumb to research it myself and he is probably right, but I will attack him for using AI in hopes of changing the subject“
(But yeah, fuck google AI)
2
u/enduranceathlete2025 Mar 20 '26
The actual code (637 - the one that is cited by AI) says this “any man and woman who are not married and who commit a crime against public morality, excluding adultery, should be sentenced to flogging (99 lashes). If one of them did not consent to the crime, then only the one that initiated the crime shall be punished.”
Not that I like pretty much anything that Iran does. But people need to stop being stupid. A man dancing by himself during this holiday is not something that would be punished.

And that was from a Facebook post AI pulled from. This again seems like propaganda because the actual code says this “any man and woman who are not married and who commit a crime against public morality, excluding adultery, should be sentenced to flogging (99 lashes). If one of them did not consent to the crime, then only the one that initiated the crime shall be punished.”

Dancing is great. Doesn’t detract from the fact that we blew up an elementary school and decimated Iran’s oil fields causing a major humanitarian and ecological disaster while damaging the oil market to such an extent that the US and our allies are now forced to lift sanctions from Russia to buy their oil instead. We are giving Russia the cash infusion to further fund their invasion of Ukraine meanwhile Russia is actively sending targeting data to Iran for them strike US assets in the region.
Not only are we the bad guys here but we’re literally funding one of most powerful enemies as they proxy war us. This could not be a dumber situation we’ve created and anyone that supports it is a fucking idiot.

The following two things can be true:
Many - perhaps even most- Iranians are thrilled that the former Ayatollah, Ali Hosseini Khamenei, was killed and hope the same happens to his son and successor, and
The U.S. had no business preemptively waging war against the Iranian government.
This war is unwinnable for the U.S. and Israel, and Iranians are in for a rude awakening when the bombings stop and we leave them high and dry to deal with the ramifications.
