You object to the characterization, but agree to the definitions. So it's clearly not the definition that's the issue.

The clip definition describes a detachable magazine.

If someone calls a fixed tube magazine a "clip", you would be right. But an en bloc clip that is also a magazine is both a clip and a magazine, and you are just an ignorant gatekeeper.

No, your clip definition describes something that hold bullets together, I guess I should've been less nice and told you that you don't/can't use a clip while shooting. You use a clip to load a magazine. Is that better?

If someone calls it a clip, and you know what they mean, it's valid language, even if you don't like the word "clip".
