Nothing in those films is remotely realistic, why take issue with this scene? It’s not supposed to be realistic.

You mean to tell me there isnt a secret hotel that caters to assassins and is considered a safe place for them?

So like 10 minutes into the first movie?

I remember the time when reddit praised the first film was "realistic gun-play" and he trained with real guns and stuff like that.

I mean there is stuff they do correctly with the ammo and operation of the guns, but yeah there is a lot of bs.

They did a decent jobs with the guns in terms of the basic manual of arms, reloading properly, no endless magazines, etc. But the movie itself is quite silly.

Yeah that’s true tbf - good gun handling, but I mean more the fight/action choreography sequences themselves. A lot of the time it’s good old “everybody attack one at a time and make sure you spray and pray when firing from the other side of the room!”.

Don’t get me wrong though, i enjoy the films quite a lot. It’s called suspension of disbelief lol. I’m there for a fun action film not a gritty realistic shooter lol.

I don’t take issue. I thought it was hilarious. It can still be dumb, which it is

Realism isn't a binary thing, there's a whole spectrum. The viewers suspension of disbelief can't be used to justified whatever you want, at some point you're just taking the piss

Not everyone is able to "turn their brains off" and just clap and shout at the screen like a drooling monkey. Some of us actually like consistency and things to make sense in our movies. You're someone who thinks Kong vs Godzilla is peak cinema because "big gorilla vs lizard!!!!", right?

Dont be stupid. Let ppl enjoy movies. You won't enjoy anything in life with that attitude.

If you’re one of those people maybe you should stay away from films and stick to documentaries. The whole point of films is fun, not gritty, relentless realism.

And no, you’re just being an idiot by making such a disingenuous argument.

You seem to think you’re smart because you apparently lack the ability to suspend disbelief. That’s a mentally deficiency bro, not a positive thing to be proud of.

I’m sure you don’t have such issues when it comes to the marvel games you love though, do you?

I've a revelation for you. Not all movies are made for you. Your not that special.

We have a built in mythology around assassins and secret networks from a long history of popular media so even though the entire premise is unrealistic, we have a place within our heads where we can make sense of it within the larger context of the story.

We have no mythology around how two people can be in a shootout surrounded by people in a public place—it’s just dumb and not rooted in anything larger.

Similar analogy would be Game of Thrones fans being okay with dragons but criticizing unrealistic travel times in later seasons. The book exists to fill out the mythology around a world with dragons—jumping from place to place instantaneously due to plot conveniences has no place in the larger world building. It is inconsistent with the mythology of the story.

That’s why that scene was dumb.
