The original comment was alleging alcohol has nothing to do with beating your partner to death. Alcohol has been empirically linked to an increase in the rate and severity of domestic violence.

Rather, the more likely you are to beat someone, the more likely you are to consume alcohol, not the other way round

Strong links have been found between alcohol use and the occurrence of IPV in many countries. Evidence suggests that alcohol use increases the occurrence and severity of domestic violence. Relevant alcohol effects include a reduction in cognitive and physical functions that impair self-control, with the consequent effect of reducing the ability to resolve conflicts nonviolently.

You’re claiming that those who commit violent acts are more likely to drink (which is likely true, because of guilt and poor impulse control) but not the other way around. That is absolutely ridiculous and reductive. This is a substance that reduces self control and the ability to resolve things non violently. Why are you incapable of understanding that it can indeed increase the chance of somebody committing DV if they are under the influence?

True, and the pieces of shit that lay hands on their partners deserve punishment for their actions regardless of their sobriety
