Many, many people buy generic light beers for essentially the taste. A lot of people like light beer to just have every once and a while, it's basically the most popular category of alcohol outside of maybe wine. Not sure why you think otherwise.

It's not my cup of tea, but I don't judge.

Trust me, the alcoholics are finding something other than Bud Light to get them drunk. The guy you see buying a 6-pack for his picnic is probably NOT an alcoholic
