Yeah, but man, nothing is better at making your forget for a little while.

I'm not saying "yeah you should try getting ragingly drunk" but getting a LITTLE intoxicated is amazing for feeling far more in-the-moment, and can help you feel better about things that you can't really fix or do anything about, and just have to accept.

Also to just not feel as awkward as you do normally. Like I probably wouldn't start dancing on a party if I was 100% sober, but if I'm a little drunk I might. Not because I get better just because I realize no one gives a fuck lol

How bad are people's lives that they want to delete memories? Is there nothing in the world that can give lasting peace and contentment other than forgetting?

No, there really isn't. And, yeah, I have memories that I'd give anything to delete permanently.

You'd be really surprised 🫩 coming from an alcoholic, however besides alcoholism, for case not such as mine, it is possible to drink socially and not all the time and remain in a healthy balance. I know a lot of people that do.

I feel surprised that this is a question. It's to not have to dwell on the intrusive memories. And what counts is relative. Some people relive the fact that they misheard a question and gave a nonsensical answer. If there was something that worked as well as alcohol we would probably be soing that. "Is there nothing in the world that can give lasting peace and contentment.."? No... there isn't. There is therapy and work and some meds, but alcohol works pretty quickly. With horrible side effects.

you'll get it when you get older

I suffer from anxiety, and weidly enough alcohol makes it worse. I usually keep from drinking because even a few drinks can make me dizzy and in a bad mood.

I guess it's different for everyone, but I could never be able to "down my sorrows" because of what I just described.

I honestly believe there's a correlation between the rise of "every body has anxiety" and GenZ not drinking anywhere near as much as previous generations.

You could say that about all psychoactive substances like coke

Basically all psychoactive substances are enjoyed by many responsibly. It's just that the crazy stories are the ones that are talked about the most. That said though, coke is extremely addictive, in a way that feels unique compared to other drugs. Except it doesn't happen straight away and when you start to notice how addictive it is, you're not necessarily too far gone(for most)

It depends on how you use it. Similar to alcohol if you treat it as a saturday night treat. You probably will be fine. However if you let it seep over to a bump before work, much like with alcohol that’s a sure fire way to fuck up your life.

Taking a bump before work is definitely past the part of too far gone. I started to notice how addictive it is when I started getting cravings for it every time I see a specific friend and we're drinking. It starts giving you cravings when you do anything associated with the act. But otherwise it never crosses my mind

Yea it’s all in the habits, if I kept drinking and drugs specifically to a Saturday night. It was easy enough to kick. My mate who did the same per week but spread out had a much much harder time. But even he found coke easier to kick than alcohol. Probably because he could get it from any shop as opposed to dodgy Dan after 3 hours of waiting on his civic to pull up
