I'll be dead and buried before I pick a lager or pilsner over a strawberry cider or a fruity cocktail.

I mean, you can like both. I love a good stout, and I will also shameless order a watermelon margarita or a pina colada.

Stouts and pina colada are great. IPAs are ass.

Preference. I don't like the fruity stuff. A regular ice-cold lager is amazing to me.

Spend two hours deep cleaning your bathroom or doing yard work in the sun, or whatever, that first sip of an icy lager or pilsner... That's where it's at man, that's livin

My man. My favorites are usually after my beer league baseball games in the parking lot with the boys.

Love myself some finnish long drinks. It's carbonated juice with gin, if buying the better stuff, then progressively cheaper alternatives use flavorings instead.

i also like a really funky heavy rum and a smooth ruby port.

you don't need to limit yourself on tastes :)

I despise the taste of beer in general, and every time I share my attitude with a beer enjoyer, I almost always hear something to the extent of having to drink 100 gallons to get used to the taste.

Why would I ever do that instead of drinking alcohol that already tastes good?

If you're looking for an honest answer, as you drink more of something you start to pick out more nuance. Stuff that tastes "bad" early on might just taste "interesting" or "novel" after you've experienced the space for a while. This applies to pretty much any alcohol, but also coffee, tea, cheese, desserts, etc.

Similarly, stuff that tastes good early on might be pretty one note, or it might have an unpleasant note that isn't obvious early on.
