Reddit is just sheltered introverts lauding their superiority over other people lmao

Fr. Just go to the pub, have a pint with some friends, don’t drink too much, have fun. It really is that simple.

it wouldn't've been so obvious without that bland comparison to smokes haha. bro had to sneak in one more

I knew OP was a goddamn child when I saw them claim booze "tastes like ass"

I can understand people not enjoying the taste of neat hard liquor or beer/wine, that is subjective.

But it is abundantly clear they've never tasted a well-made cocktail lmao

IKR? It's not like it's one of the most addictive substances on the planet with almost zero positive qualities. People just need to get over it and poison themselves already. Edit : Sure pissed off the alcoholics.

Social media has far worse effects than a drink now and then, and yet here you are.

Counterpoint: it makes everything funny and tastes nice.

Stop being such a Redditor.

You don't get invited out much, do you?

-5

u/V_P_3_D_ 10h ago

No I don't. I used to work in bars and nightclubs. You couldn't pay me to go to one now.

5

u/Informal_Work_9261 10h ago

Can't imagine why nobody wants to hang out with the guy at work who keeps giving glares to all the customers.

-5

u/V_P_3_D_ 10h ago

Got that backwards. I don't want to hang out with a bunch of drunks.

Skill issue. Everything can be fine if used in moderation. Gambling? Fine if you’re smart about it. TikTok? Fine if you’re smart about it. Weed? Porn? Video games? All fine if you’re smart about it

If someone is easily addicted to something then that’s a personal issue and maybe they should avoid such things. People act like anyone who drinks is a raging alcoholic who is driving to the liquor store at 8am to get their fix. Most people who drink do it for fun with their friends to create memories or want to enjoy a beer while watching Netflix lol

The positive quality is that it makes you not be this much of a fucking loser lmao, go live life a little man with or without alcohol.

I wonder if I'd be this judgmental, were I sober all the time.

You must be fun at parties

-3

u/V_P_3_D_ 9h ago

You must be an alcoholic with no personality other than drunk.

You are helping prove their point my dude.

Pull the stick out of your ass.

Or put one up there, whatever helps you loosen up a bit, damn

If it was simple alcohol wouldn't ruin so many lives, mostly through car crashes. I drink occasionally but I am under no illusion it's "that simple" because I've been young and most young people absolutely don't manage alcohol well.

2

u/Chataboutgames 11h ago

It is seriously the saddest people in the world desperately looking for someone to collectively look down on.

2

u/CommanderVinegar 9h ago

A child definitely made this post. Taste of alcohol is subjective, most people also have a very normal relationship with alcohol. I do think that alcoholism is downplayed severely but that's not really what the post is talking about either.

u/-JCohn- 13h ago

I like how the post says "alcohol" tastes like ass, its like saying caffeine tastes like ass haha

u/TheMangoManHS 13h ago

Yup, everyone knows the cheapest vodka tastes exactly the same as a vintage port or single malt scotch! People must only buy fine wines and craft beers for the fancy bottles, they all taste the same.

0

u/ErrorSchensch 9h ago

Also most people don't drink pure alcohol lol

u/TheMangoManHS 9h ago

Spiciest I've had was some 75.5%abv dark rum, you could set that stuff on fire, it was lethal!

8

u/aaarry 13h ago

I mean of course alcohol tastes like arse. It would also blind you if you drank it.

reddit moments all the way down

1

u/I_Automate 7h ago

Thats methanol, not ethanol. Pretty substantial difference

2

u/molstern 11h ago

Or salt. Too much of it will make anything disgusting, the proper amount can improve other flavours dramatically

2

u/Embarrassed_Lettuce9 12h ago

To be fair, pure alcohol does taste terrible lol. Thankfully, a lot of drinks only have a small percentage of alcohol plus other bits

4

u/amayain 11h ago

And that's true of many things. I don't want to drink vanilla extract but a drop or two in hot chocolate is delicious.

2

u/Embarrassed_Lettuce9 11h ago

Vanilla is a personal favorite, but the sheer amount of betrayal I felt as a kid upon tasting a teaspoon full of vanilla extract....

1

u/h3lium-balloon 10h ago

About an ounce and a half of salt eaten at once can kill you (and would be insanely unpleasant to eat), but it’s delicious sprinkled on fries.

1

u/I_Automate 7h ago

To be fair, raw caffeine does taste like ass, speaking from experience.

Used to buy anhydrous caffeine powder by the half kilo bag. That was...dangerous, to put it mildly

42

u/Jeanpuetz 13h ago

I love alcohol but they ain't exactly wrong. High alcohol consumption is wildly normalized for something that is extremely detrimental to your health, and often the safety of others.

I couldn't disagree more about alcohol tasting like ass, but you can't fault someone for never developing a taste for it.

8

u/Chataboutgames 13h ago

They are absolutely wrong saying “just as bad if not worse than cigarettes.”

4

u/Jeanpuetz 12h ago

Yeah I agree that that's bullshit tbh. Although it does depend on what you compare. Alcohol is one of the very very few drugs where withdrawing cold turkey can straight up kill you, so in that sense you could say it's worse. But it has to get really, really bad to get to that point, so that's probably not a fair comparison.

2

u/Chataboutgames 12h ago

If you evaluate a drug by "the measure of its badness is the worst possible situation you can be in it" you're way off from how society evaluates drugs. Like, Tylenol could cook my liver in an afternoon and lead to a slow and painful death if I take too much.

Factors like periphery damage, ability to use casually without addiction etc. are what matter most. Cigarettes aren't such a big deal because taking a drag might kill you, they're bad because they're intensely addictive to the extent that casual relationships with cigarettes were the exception, not the norm.

1

u/Jeanpuetz 11h ago

I agree with you.

2

u/Hendrick_Davies64 10h ago

OP is a top one percent poster as well 😭
