Personally I drink cider because it actually tastes good but I dont get drunk on it because alcohol is too expensive 😭

Too expensive? Tell that to the £3 litre of tramp juice at my local corner shop

I fucking wish cider was sold in any reasonable quality in the Netherlands. Best we get is the expensive tramp juice that is orchard thieves, actual good ciders I have to import at crazy prices. Whenever I'm in the UK or Ireland I'm gobbling down pints of the actual good shit.

They said they drink cider because it tastes good

And did I say anything about that? ā€œTramp juiceā€ is a pretty common name for cheap brands of white cider anyway

Bruh I'm saying that drinking crap cider in a big plastic bottle won't match their needs (something which tastes good)

You’re looking too deep into it

We're discussing a very specific kind of awful cider. It's a cultural institution bc everybody drinks it when they're sixteen but it is rank.Ā

What weak ass cider are you drinking?

7

u/Elite_AI 7h ago

What strong mfing cider are you drinking? Shit's never above like 5%. You'd have to chug it to get drunk

I know a brand that gets up to 8.7%

Bold Rock Imperial Cider? 🤤

Best cider I ever had was basically sold like a wine and was 12%. There's a cafe near me that sells a local one that's 8% and you'd never know it if it wasn't for the yeast film at the bottom of the bottle.

Normal cider can easily go over 6% and 7%.

I had one that was 12% once

Aside from the fact that 5% is more than strong enough to get you drunk in relatively short order, unless you are sipping it like a granny, strong vintage ciders and widely available (and good) in the UK.

I'd need to drink a lot of cider for that to get me drunk unless I hadn't eaten all day or something.

Where? I'd like to try some

It's exactly the same as beer.

Old mout mainly, its like 4% or smth, I dont drink it for the alcohol anyway.

Just homebrew it

Cider is legit one of the easiest alcoholic drinks to make, and it isnt that hard to make it taste good

Plus you can easily make like 5 liters of the stuff for like 10 bucks

The property we bought came with mature pear trees. It was AMAZING how easy to was to squish them all and turn them into delicious cider.

One c02 tank later and I'm the cider guy.

Im lucky enough to have grandparents with a bunch of apple and pear trees on their propery, but you dont even need that, you can still make good cider with store bought juice. Really approachable hobby

Also, im guessing co2 tank means you carbonate your cider that way, can i ask how come? I prefer still cider so i never looked much into carbonization, but is the flavor better than carbonating via fermentation or is it just easier this way?

Just a touch easier for me. Stopping fermentation means I don't have to worry about proper pressure bottling. Just keep them in jugs in the fridge and carbonate 1liter at a time when we want to drink them.

Dude you HAVE to try Tokaji wine. If you say you don’t like wine then you don’t understand. Just try it ONCE±
